We found this paper back copy of pick up lines at a thrift store, that we still have to this day. This was when country was pure and country was country. A lot of memories come from these songs. More modern country is not really country. Its become toxic when they mixed other styles of music to it and that many great singers have died or stopped singing for whatever reasons. If you want true country you will have to listen to older country.

I remember seeing George when it was early in his career and Garth Brooks was the opening act, before he became well known. What a night! There’s no one to compare to George Strait. He’s as great live as he is on his records. Wonderful guy in general !!!!

My daughter and her best friend use to sing this song and do a little skit with it. They were so young about 8-9 . It was adorable, Unfortunately the friend, became a teacher, fought with depression and committed suicide. My daughter still treasures this song and happier memories.🙏💙😢

I miss my father also. He passed away in 2012. He was born in Piersall Texas and so was I I was born the same year in the same hospital as George strait. He was very good friends with my cousin Carlos. George strait father was a I believe math teacher in Piersall Texas at the high school. Home of the Mavericks. The first time I heard George was at this place in Piersall Texas called the Wishingwell. He was great, but he wasn’t famous then. My uncle Frank has pictures of George great and him tossing watermelon into a big truck. We moved to Wisconsin when I was only one year old so I never really went to school or anything like that but I love him his music and my dad. My grandfather hated the new style of country of today, didn’t much care for much of the 90’s he loved old country music. The 40’s-80’s country. He was a huge George Jones fan. HOWEVER, the only country singer he did like of the 90’s thru 2010’s was George Straight. George Straight always had that old country vibe to it. Especially his early stuff in the late 80’s and 90’s.
