I've read a couple of takes from them, I see either sympathy but it wasn't assault or pure vitriol from people that think she's basically spitting on them with this. I had a close friend I thought I trusted. Both of us are in the lgbtcommunity. I had a troubled unstable life at the time and he offered for me to stay the weekend at his house in Boston. He had a boyfriend, I thought it was safe. We were friends for most of my life. Two days in, woke up in the middle of the night to my "friend" standing over me and forcing his hands down my sweatpants and aggressively grabbing etc. He left no stone unturned. I said "What are you doing?" and he kinda just left the room. The next day he told me he was actually "sleep walking". I guess he's done it to others in the past too and has a reputation. It's been 3 years and only now do I admit to myself what happened. I can't imagine doing what this girl did.

Tbf, I don't think that's the case. She would have made it harder to believe victims if she said she was gRaped when she wasn't, for example. But she was technically honest with what happened, just used certain language to make it _sound_ much worse than it actually was and claim it was much worse than it actually was.
The way she’s adopting language from real survivor stories that doesn’t belong to her and is applying it to her situation is appalling. She’s lucky that all that happened to her was she got groped a bit at a party. If she truly has this strong of feelings then she should get off the internet and go to therapy, not try to ruin some guy’s life because he got a bit grabby. Claiming you were sexually assaulted is such a weird flex by people online. I’ve been with my husband for 7 years and only three years ago I told him about my assault past. Only he and my therapist knows this. Assault harbors so much shame and no matter how much therapy I could have, I would NEVER go online about assault, in detail like this, because that shame really never goes away. Just thinking about details of my assault sends me spiraling. Hell, I’ve yet to fully remember the full thing because my brain will not allow me to, for good reason too. Almost like I have ptsd 🤪 weird.

Assault happens a lot because people live a long time, you’ll meet on average 10,000 individual people in your lifetime, it only takes one bad person to ruin that life. This will be long, but I have been unhealthy invested in this whole thing unfolding. (I am also only 37 minutes into the video as of typing this) I think I'm so invested because I feel now, like what you've said in the video so far, that it diminishes the experiences I've had in the past, it makes me feel invalidated and the opposite of seen and supported. Especially when it comes to the more recent assault I have experienced. I was living in fear of seeing the person who did that to me, feared that they would find me, had debilitating reactions when remembering, had constant dissociation and still do. I feared for my life in the moment that it happened. I feared even moving due to remembering things so vividly afterwards that if I did move I would be right back in that room, right back to when it happened. (But I also understand that trauma takes many forms and this is just what mine manifested as) So hearing her talk about this in a "glorified" light and on such a public platform and scale is so confusing, disheartening, and damaging especially to survivors of such horrid acts. It's terrifying to come forward, there are so many checks and balances that come with reporting and her just being able to do it so publicly, "easily", and with disregard to the actual processes that need to happen to report something like assault is horrible. I kinda get wanting to shed light on things but without a concrete criminal investigation to back you up situations and accusations like these (especially on such a public scale) can get confused and blown out of proportion and could ruin lives, evidence is needed especially if you want to make such a big accusation towards someone. I would understand if this situation was predatory and or a blatant disregard of consent which would warrant a criminal report and maybe after it comes to fruition a public statement on it to genuinely make your voice heard and foster the support of real survivors but with the other videos I've seen on this, it seems more like miscommunication and a plethora of other things on both sides. I'm grateful that other people on the youtube platform are talking about this and your points are the best I've seen and gives me more of a voice than her statement ever could, shout out to @Breone as well for talking about this matter in a critical light and also making me feel more comfortable to comment somewhere. (this is not to disregard her feelings, I get some of the aspects but it's also so muddled down by everything else so my sympathy isn't fully there) All in all, the education of consent needs to be there for everyone. I hate this. So much. Unfortunately, (I’m 34 now, so let’s begin with that), I lost my virginity to being *insert R word*. Locked in a room with two men while my friends were outside and heard me screaming for help for over 30 mins. I was 16 years old, locked in a room unable to escape. Sober. It messed me up for a long time. I went through years and years and years of therapy. I still suffer from CPTSD nightmares all these years later. Sure him crossing boundaries sucks, it isn’t great but this response? ….actually insane. The internet will not help with any of these types of things, seek therapy.

Our legal drinking age here in Canda is 19, hell I live on a border city. The Americans in the city across the bridge come here every weekend to legally be able to drink at that age.

It could've been something they both learned from: better communication skills, speaking up if you're uncomforable in the moment, & being more careful when you have a lot of eyes on you, waiting for you to make any slight misstep. Papa makes a good point about being 18 and drinking. 18 is supposed to be the age at which a person is a legal adult and able to make their own decisions. As someone who was SA when I was a kid, I hate this girl. She made a mockery of true victims like me. When I saw her video and the way she stated what happened with her cheesy script she was reading from and the insensitive, stupid poetry she threw in there, it made me so angry because I’m sure she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Just because she chose to drink underage and went to a stranger’s room who only tickled her (she was lucky nothing more happened) and then blamed the whole thing on him even though he was drunk too! Most victims are not thoughtless like her; most people, before getting SA, take actions to make sure they’re safe and don’t trust strangers, unlike her. The sad truth is, victims get SA by people they have known for YEARS: friend, family member, partner. They deserve justice, but instead, awful people like her get the most attention, and it’s frustrating. I will never forgive this woman for taking advantage of the situation just to get revenge without considering how it would affect real victims. We’re already never believed, and when we are, none stand by us, and most people support the assaulter.

Trauma is something that comes in all shapes and sizes and everyone handles it differently. Something may feel traumatic without being something overall an actual traumatic experience. It’s why we say certain things traumatize us without claiming it is traumatic. If I watch alien as a four year old I will feel traumatized. However, watching a movie is not a traumatic experience. Any limitation pushed extremely feels traumatic. This is truly just an experience that is overthought and over victimized. If she truly feels this way then I feel sorry that she has been so sheltered and made to believe that this is traumatic. This is isn’t a scenario of assault. Rather another example of how victimizing has become a poison and mockery of those SA’d and graped. GET OFF THE INTERNET! Go learn the realities of life and learn how to deal with inconveniences.

And by all accounts that I'm reading she may have been pressured into this by people who don't necessarily like George/Dream/that group which is super shady. The age gap perspective these people have is insane. I saw a video a minute back, where the entire video is spent infantilizing a 26 year old woman because she was dating a like 60 year old. And it’s just so weird honestly, it just never stops being brought up. “This guy had a full career before she was even born” like she isn’t old enough to make her choices in life. It’s just fucking cringe honestly, like I can’t fathom these are being taken seriously on tiktok and I say Shelby calling herself a survivor is an insult to real survivors and I’m bad guy. Okay so, I don’t know anything about these people or the situation. 5 minutes into the video and I’m questioning if she’s genuine because her whole demeanor while talking feels so fake. The minute she started crying I was wondering if she was being ironic or joking because it just felt so false. Now reading the comments I’m fuming. I don’t want to completely disregard her story and experiences, but all of these presumably wrong/exaggerated stories make it so much harder to believe actual victims. I was once „mildly“ assaulted by my then bf and I would never paint that as „I was basically raped while sleeping and life is now so hard and I’m so traumatized by it“ story. This shit is wild… and now after hearing all her I’m so sad and damaged and haunted bullshit I’m actually double fuming. “I had to stand up for it to stop” implies that she was saying no and only physically moving made it stop. This sounds like a misunderstanding. He couldn’t understand her body language, and she couldn’t set a boundary due to her perception of the situation
