Did I count THREE WHALE SHARKS? That's crazy! And those manta rays, too. This is so amazing. I really want to visit the Georgia Aquarium, omg. Those animals are so majestic. This tank must be ENORMOUS. I can literally stare at this for hours.
I always try to help people take good pictures of their vacation. The truth is a lot of people don't know how to turn the flash off. They suffer from "MPS" Minimum Photography Skills. I work on the So. Cal. Coastline, so people would ask me to take their pic with the ocean in the background. In the days of real film, I would always say "One more just in case" then cut their heads off. I always imagined them saying when they got the prints back. "Good thing he took another one"'
What an excellent video. I was in Atlanta visiting my girlfriend who lives in Marietta last week and we went to the Aquarium. Seeing those Whale Sharks just blew me away an amazing sight. Thank you for bringing the memories back....I Love Atlanta
They're fed, away from boaters and poachers, away from fishing nets, away from a lot of the things that would kill them and there's enough space for all of them. I'm more than certain this isn't cruel. Just look at them, guys. They're fine!
Gives me anxiety knowing they're swimming in circles not in the ocean which only 5% has been explored by humans but we are stealing animals out of their natural environment for our own selfish greed. So fkd up
+Vegan Moll they were brought in as babies and the tanks have currents fir them to swim in. btw fish have been SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN TO have low intelligence not all species but most.
Max Bensly So that means they don't know shit? Fish are actually very intelligent beings in their own ways, Obviously not in there swimming round & round
Nice video! My wife and I just went diving in that exhibit last Friday. Awesome experience and a lot less people under water than there are at the window :)
Very Interesting video I live in Las Vegas right now. And I have visited the Shark Reef Aquarium inside the Mandalay Bay. Its a pretty huge Aquarium actually one of the largest in North America. But looking at the Georgia Aquarium on internet through me off makes Vegas's aquarium look like a box lol. But me and my are relocating to Atlanta, Georgia real soon well the city's suburb to be exact we def plan on visiting the Georgia Aquarium once we move there. And I have also visited the one in Long Beach, California. I that city had a nice aquarium well me being from L.A. I say everything is nice in So Cal. Even tho its kinda funny to see how this states aquarium is located in its state capital Atlanta. I'm surprised its not located near the states coastal area like Savannah, GA.
After a while that I get to be mesmerized by their beauty, I begin to wonder - which of these different fish personalities am I most fascinated about?! (^-^)
Take the "Behind the Scenes Tour" if you want to be amazed at the inner workings of this facility. It is extra in cost but I found it very educational. From food storage, biology labs, vets to a morgue to determine cause of death and prevent spread of outbreaks in the aquarium. There was a story where a catfish had part of its jaw bitten and they performed plastic surgery on it and it got so big in isolation during recover nothing messed with it after it was returned to the aquarium.
This may not be 100% morally correct but it's much more tame than what Seaworld does. The whale sharks in this video don't look sick and aren't showing obvious signs of anxiety or depression, unlike the poor Orcas at Seaworld, who had sagging fins, wound marks around their mouths (from bumping into the tank walls), and would pace back and forth tirelessly.
Was there yesterday..... Fantastic, well worth the price! Tank is made of Acrylic (17 times stronger than glass) and is 24 inches thick, they had a sample/cross-section of it at the base of the tank. Warning "Don't go in there hungry, spent $61.00 for lunch for 3 (2 Burgers with fries, Polish Sausage, 1 water, 2 bottled Sodas 20oz).... Oh almost forgot, add: 2 Brownies and a mini Cheesecake. Food was OK, prices are ridiculously EXPENSIVE!
people comparing this to sea world are so off base. it's a 6 million gallon aquarium and more than likely the whale sharks are juveniles being rehabilitated...
+Rhubiarb again more than likely for rehab, and I'm not defending keeping whales or sharks in captivity but in the context of rehabilitation if it's proven successful I see no problem
If your looking for a fun road trip to Atlanta then I would say yes, the Georgia Aquarium is worth the drive. I would see the World of Coke and GA Aquarium on the same day with a combo pass to see both. then, visit Stone Mountain the next day. If your still not satisfied yet make the 1.5 hour drive north to Chattanooga to see the Tennessee Aquarium which is maybe better than the Ga Aquarium. It has more to do and better restaurants near by.
SomethingClever SomethingDorky The sharks are fed by the trainers. I think they already removed the Hammerheads recently, which is a shame tho. I loved the Hammerheads
That's the largest window in the ocean voyager gallery. But first , after getting to that window , you have to pass a tunnel , next it says that there are two more spots after getting to that window. It says that the largest window in the whale shark exhibit ( ocean voyager gallery ) is 23 feet tall , 61 feet wide and 2 feet thick
lucky! I got to sleep next to the lion exhibit at the zoo actually, it wasn't that relaxing though... especially since I woke up twice too see one of the female lions walking right past me and starring....
Anybody can dive if you are certified. We even received a whale shark specialty designation from PADI and had an amazing behind the scenes experience of the entire aquarium as well as watching how the whale sharks are fed. Check out their website and you can see how you can dive too. We also got into the water with the beluga whales the next day. I have the video of our dive on my RU-vid page.
That's all they've got in the biggest aquarium in the world ? Thousands of fishes in a huge tank and people just keep staring at it ? No dolphin shows ? Penguin dance ? Water diving ? Dome shaped aquarium pathway ?
+Vegan Moll worse happens in the wild m8 xD xD xD these animals are safer in the aquarium then they ever would have been in the wild...Mother Nature is cruel...I remember catching a fish and letting it go, only for it to be eaten by a barracuda 10 seconds later
