So informative thank you! Could you give an example of what a progress report looks like?
@kindletogetherness
@kindletogetherness 8 месяцев назад
I’ll try and do this in the future. It’s pretty simple. Just state what your child worked on in each subject area and I usually also say if they are progressing or not progressing.

Thank you for making this video😊 I wouldve loved to have had this when I started our first year homeschooling. I have friends that will be starting their 1st years and will glady share it with them. GOD BLESS YOU for making a video to help! I am interested in how you made your progress report and what info you put info in it.

Thanks for helping out others with the details. It really can be overwhelming to opt out the public school system and choose a different route. I’ll try and think of the best format for sharing about progress reporting. I keep ours very low key.

One more question: the declaration of intent is the only thing that says we homeschool? We currently pay for what is called an accountability group and they are what "covers" us in our state. They give us a card that states we are registered homeschoolers. Is the declaration of intent the same idea except I don't have to pay for it?
@kindletogetherness
@kindletogetherness Год назад
Well, we don’t get an ID card (I make ours annually) but the DOI is how we tell the state Dept of Ed that our children are in compulsory schooling (which is the law). We keep a copy of our DOI for things like driver permits/licensing, etc. It’s not an ID though.

I saw the Cat testing has timed or not timed. Does it matter which one my kid takes?
@kindletogetherness
@kindletogetherness 3 месяца назад
It doesn't. Just personal preference. We liked the online, untimed version so we could just do pieces as we wished.

Hello, we are relocating to Georgia next month from South Florida. My child is 4yrs was diagnosed with ASD at 3yrs old and has been going to public school for ASD (PreK). In Georgia Lawrenceville has a similar program but doesn't allow ABA therapist to the schools. I don't trust that since they are my eyes and ears for my nonverbal son. So, I decided to homeschool him when I get to Georgia. Since his already in the system in Florida do, I still need to do the Letter of intent for Georgia even though it's not required until his 6?

Since you aren't legally required to enroll your student (even in Florida) at 3 years old, you should be fine. I would formally unenroll your child from the Florida public school system. In the event you do register your kiddo in a GA Public or Private school, or they turn 6, you would need to file the DOI as stated on the GA DOE website.

Hi! We are considering a move to GA and I was on here learning the requirements since we currently homeschool. To be clear, I do not have to submit the scores from the standardized test I am required to give my students? I proctor it in my own home and even have freedom to choose the test? Just wanted to be sure I was hearing you correctly. We currently live in a state that requires zero testing so all of that is new to me. Thanks!
@kindletogetherness
@kindletogetherness Год назад
Hi! Yes, you understand correctly. We turn nothing in and share nothing with anyone except for our annual DOI. We are required to do the other things, but we simply keep those records in our home. That’s it. As to the standardized test, it must be standardized in order to meet the requirement. Interestingly, the test they give in the schools themselves doesn’t qualify. 🤷🏻‍♀️

If we are beginning in 9th would we have to test this year? This is my first year homeschooling 4th, 7th, & 9th
@kindletogetherness
@kindletogetherness Год назад
Hi Jamie, yes. 9th grade is a testing year in GA. Just do it before your Declaration of Intent dates are through. So I set mine up for Sept 1, 2023 - Aug 31, 2024. I’d make sure the testing was finished by August 31, 2024.

I think you’re right. I’m so glad Ga is so simple and straightforward. I don’t even think about our laws after I turn in our online Declaration of Intent annually. So simple.

If my child has been in public high school since September. How do I write up the declaration of intent? We are in Georgia. What dates would I use. Do I include the date he started public school this year? Will he get those hours?
@kindletogetherness
@kindletogetherness 8 месяцев назад
Hi! You have 30 days from the date you pull your child from a public or private formal education program to put in your DOI. I would begin your dates as soon as you pull your student and I would be certain you have your student complete their courses of study for this semester so you can include those particular courses on their transcript. High School is a bit different, in that you will want to have a transcript ready for your student. As a home educator, you can create it yourself. Just keep copious documentation in case your student desires to attend University or a secondary program of some sort.

Can you decide to homeschool your child in the middle of the school year if they are already in public school?
@kindletogetherness
@kindletogetherness 10 месяцев назад
Hello, yes you can. I’m GA you may withdraw your student any time from a public school or private school system and then you have 30 days to submit your DOI.

I already put my 5 year old on the declaration of intent thinking I had to since his birthday is on September 19th. Am I too late to cancel it if I’m even allowed? Or should I just leave it the way it is?
@kindletogetherness
@kindletogetherness 11 месяцев назад
To be honest, I don’t think it can really be changed. They are technically now registered for school. When a parent uses the public or private school system at 5 for a few months and then pulls the child to homeschool, they must register. I think you technically registered them and will just carry on from here. 💕
