I play Tenor Horn in a Brass Band and the fact is that they always seem to be over looked. They have a great versatility, a sweet high register as well as a brilliantly sounding lower section. This is a really great solo from one!
Wow, this was beautiful. Makes me wish we had the brass band culture here in the states. Vicki was absolutely amazing. Can you get a crush on a girl from hearing her play the tenor horn?
I keep coming back to this video over and over. I am in love with this arrangement and performance. I wish I could get the audio without the dialogue over it.
I was debating whether to start the trumpet, the trombone, or the tenor horn. After this video, I am totally going for the tenor horn! What an inspiration!
In English speaking they are called tenorhorns in Eb , its a Alto in Germany. There a tenor horn is in Bb , and in English that would be a Barytone, same Bb as a Euphonium. bit confusing.
There is still people reflected in this picture in somewhere in earth. With that alone I am impressed whether there is that I thought about such a thing.
Vickie, it's probably been a while since this was posted. I hope you are still playing the tenor horn. Not because it is a tenor horn, but because you play with a lot of sincerity. Nothing else matters -- nothing -- when you are able to play with real sincerity. The camera work and editing was as good as your performance, and it took all of you to put this over with the equipment you had. This was an absolutely world-class job, and I hope you are inspired to do a few more vids like this.
This is a classic arrangment for brass band, the solo part comes in both Eb tenor horn and Bb trombone version. I would expect you would have no problems ordering it at any music shop. Does anyone out there know the publisher?
@trumpetmano okay.. let's make it clear.. those instrument tuned to Eb are in the register of alto treble, no matter what kind of instrument they are.. for instance that sax tuned to Eb called alto sax ( one octave lower> bariton sax ) .. the expression of ,,alto tenor'' itself doesen't make sense.. alto and tenor are different things... alto is above tenor... right? other examples> alto trombone is in Eb .. it is not tenor tormbone.. alt sax is not tenor sax.. alt horn is not tenor horn :)
what horn do you use?!!?!?! your freaking amazing and i have been searching for an alto horn for days and i cant find any with a good reputation that is obvious
BRASS RULES. I'm a Trumpet player but I just started learning Euphonium and I LOVE IT! I wish I could join your group. You seem like a great bunch. Sending you love from America. :) Marcus
I play cornet but my brass teacher says if i want to i can change and do tenor horn instead because the mouthpiece is bigger and I am not fitting my whole mouth into the mouthpiece or something :)
That was really nice, but why do so many players hold their horns in the laziest way possible? It's not like it weighs 30lbs. You've got two hands for a reason. Hold it up.
Nope, puffing cheeks is forbidden! But, it's better to continue with it if you have been doing so .. since you started. It's just unnecessary cuz you have to train some muscler just for nothing (I think xD).
