We are discovering more all the time, especially from DNA analysis, a majority of the worlds population seems to contain genes from human side branch species like Neanderthals or Denisovans, so there was a bit of mixing going on back then (40k + years ago). The discovery of homo Florensis (a dwarf island species of human) shows that humans evolve to their environment just like any other animal.

@@olumorganjoe Why should I share your belief in hell or even the concept of sin? Do you have any reason to believe in these things other than having been taught to believe in them? As far as I'm concerned, there is zero evidence that hell is real, let alone that Christ is real. Considering that the earliest non-Christian accounts of Jesus were written six decades after his alleged crucifixion, I'm not fully convinced that Jesus was even a historical figure. So I don't see why I would need someone who's either entirely fictional or at the very least has been dead for 2,000 years.

@John57945 5 лет назад
@Brabdson Marlow, you are really missing the point. It's not about taxing charitable functions or donated funds used to help homeless people or anything that is for charity. I believe what the original writer meant are the abuses by people who cloak themselves under the church 501 (c)(3) exemption and avoid tax expenditures on items for their own personal use.For example, in a number of states churches buy things and don't have to pay sales tax in quite a few states if the church has also applied to a particular State's Dept. of Revenue, as a 501(c)(3) Charitable Corporation. Even though the 501(c)(3) is a Federal exemption, there are a number of states that will also allow state exemptions from states sales taxes on the purchase of goods. I have witnessed numerous occasions as a tax accountant where the clergy or other employees of a church buy things such as LCD TV's, computer equipment, furniture, and escape taxes on those items because the church clergy or employee used their church's exemption 501(c)(3) charitable corporation to buy the goods at a retail location without sales tax. The exemption was applicable if it was paid for on a check or a CC issued by or paid for with church funds but not for an individuals' personal use. A lot of times, these items were paid with personal funds or cash by the clergy. In other words, the clergy would use their church's tax exempt status to buy things for themselves, TAX FREE. I myself called some of these pastors or employees of a church and told them they can not use their personal funds to buy things tax free and be allowed the church's exemption since the transactions would show personal funds were used. They would act like they didn't know any better or say they would stop, but they usually kept doing it because they were getting away with it.In addition, luxury items like planes, cars and boats have FLET (Federal Luxury Excise Tax), however some of the tele-evangelists avoid these taxes on luxury items claiming that these luxury item purchases are necessary for spiritual retreats and other BS necessities for their church. I am sure their are many abuses by the church but these are one's I have witnessed personally as a tax person for many years.

All these things show *intelligent design,* right? Whoever created these things planned their functionality, right? Now, look at a person: we're mostly symmetrical, we have eyes to see, ears to hear, a nose to smell, skin to feel, a lot of organs that help us eat & digest, grow, heal from injuries, reproduce, etc. Who do you think created us, "something" so complex? Do you think we came out of nowhere? Or did something/someone created us, beings of intelligent design?

@liviwynn9831
@liviwynn9831 6 лет назад
Matter of the fact is that evolution is a theory and like all legitimate theories they aren't factual. You can have a theory and believe in that as a belief, but it doesn't make it true. The deception behind all of this is that evolution was told to be true by scientists, as a counter argument against the existence of a God, even though logically the fact that a divine being created us is more evident, than a theory with a basis off of that everything that comes from nothing and it happens by chance is more ridiculous, than the belief of a God.
@quattordicimontenapoleone3113
@quattordicimontenapoleone3113 6 лет назад
There is no logic in creation by divine being or intelligent design, and further more, there is absolutely no evidence of it. Contrary to this, evolution is backed by an abundance of evidence. You state that everything came from nothing by chance, but where would God have come from? And what God? There have been thousands of religions (none exactly like the other, one might add). The major difference between faith and science: In science people arrive at the same conclusion independently, which have happened on numerous occasions. When people disagree, they feud it out with more research. In faith, every religion is different from the other and differences are solved with war. Not once have two religions isolated from each other been exactly identical. That's rather peculiar, don't you think?
@liviwynn9831
@liviwynn9831 6 лет назад
Religion and Scientists are different things. One is a set of beliefs and principals, while the other is a researcher of the truth. The difference between an scientist and a Religious individual is that the Religious person already knows the truth of the world (depending on religion), while a scientist make up conclusions to learn that truth, but some scientists do this while having an understanding of a divine creator. I say all of this but I couldn't actually tell you to believe in a God and you'll believe in one. There is a reason the saying, "Have faith in God" exists. I'm saying evolution is the science communities out look on the current world, but it doesn't make evolution real. To be more exact Atheism is like a religion too, having a set of beliefs and a out look on the world. You may say there is no evidence of God, but there is. You can look at everything in the Bible, and it dates back far in history as the oldest book in the world. It hasn't been proven wrong with actual facts to this day. Jesus Christ is a good example through his existence alone, but I'll say there are plenty of evidence to back up evolution if you can twist truth in ways it sounds reasonable, but that also means there are plenty of holes in the theory itself that not even science can back up.
@quattordicimontenapoleone3113
@quattordicimontenapoleone3113 6 лет назад
So basically what you are saying is that you believe want you want to believe and will try to nonsense-talk until it makes sense to you again? So very much of what you just wrote simply does not make sense, are plainly intentional lies, or completely deluded. Let me just give you a few: Again, evolution has been proven without twisting any facts by a large group of individuals working independently. The Bible is not the oldest text in existence, is completely full of disproven statements and "facts", is not corroborated by any other contemporary texts (no Jesus probably is not a historical person and there is no, none, zero evidence for his existence). Since you mention Jesus, I assume the religion you are talking about is Christianity. But Judaism is clearly older since Christianity is based upon it. Why are you then a Christian and not a Jew? Or why not a Muslim? Then there are numerous other much older religions with a much larger following. Why are you not following the faith of Hinduism? Finally you make the major error of assuming that just because we have not got all the information, that it somehow proves something wrong. If that is your stance, then you seriously cannot trust anything, and certainly not religions. You should not eat, because we do not understand everything about food yet. You should not vote, because you have never met the president. So far, no one has provided serious evidence against the theory of evolution, while there exist an enormous body of evidence for it. So you have to make a choice, because you cannot judge one core belief on one set of merits and another on a completely different set. It would be like treating each of your children completely differently, blindly trusting one while requiring massive amounts of proof from the other, just because you feel like it. How would you convict someone of a crime if the judge did not witness it in person? There will always be a lack of evidence. Where do you draw the line when you have enough evidence? If you want to live in a world long gone, no one is going to stop you. But if you want to go on a mission, judge your own view of the would by the same set of standards as you judge that of others. Otherwise leave it be. Or join us who can do good, have morals, love and care without being threatened with an imaginary hell, envisioned by people who want to control us and take advantage of us.

We observe ...I'm sure if i knew more biology, i'd learn about more evidence. Darwin's theory which has evolved is a theory becuse its a derived body of knowledge rather than a single observation. Edgehead10075 evolution is a theory or rather “the theory of evolution”...it is not an established fact. It’s a well established theory however. There is plenty of evidence to support this theory but there is not enough to say conclusively that this is a fact. Science has many requirements for something to be called a fact and not just a theory and evolution unfortunately does not yet qualify. It is however the generally accepted model for how life has evolved and it is a far better theory than any other suggested theory on the same matter such as the creationist god created everything theory which is dumb and has no evidence to support it whatsoever. There are several other possible theories and none have conclusively been proven to be correct. Evolution is simply the accepted theory among scientists today just like the Big Bang theory

+halladall1 To be fair no clergy in the US would wear such a getup, Lutherans included. That having been said, YES the church venue is a dead giveaway. Both poles are appalling in their ignorance. Of course Parliament tells the church what to do as Denmark provides a STATE CHURCH! OF course the other question is why didn't the host of this video watch enough of the YLE programme to speak competently? Ja Ja Ja! The Lutheran priests were worth watching repeatedly. For a while I thought they they weren't even grasping how out there the Georgian was, until the one Priest said he was Born Again - at his baptism - which is the orthodox Christian understanding. It was a perfect and concise refutation to the novelty of American Evangelical improvisational notions. (I think that part was in the full YLE programme rather than the snippets in this video)
@halladall1
@halladall1 8 лет назад
kitiowa Yea the state church think is somthing that the American pastor is not really grasping here, which is probably something he has a hard time even belive could happen, as he is used to the "Seperation of church and state" meaning in his mind, he belives that a chuch can do everything it want. In Denmark we have a tight leash on the church, which I think is a good thing... that way we can prevent it from activly infecting our sociaty and imposing religeous dogma on the rest of us. We even have to pay taxes to the church, which I will gladly do, if it can keep it out of my life. I think what the paster is mostly astonished by, is how the male priest sounds like he supports gay marrige, even if it wasn't mandated by the state. The "Wow" sound he makes, is actually just the sound of a man getting his conciousness raised, and his mind blown at the same time... I really hope he comes home a better man with a lot of new baggage and ideas.
@kitiowa
@kitiowa 8 лет назад
+halladall1 I watched the whole YLE program (Norden). Counting how many times he said 'wow' is a busy task. You have hit on the insidiousness of American "Evangelicalism". They don't truly believe in separation of Church and State. They want the State subservient to the Church. They (the Churches) are exempt from laws which protect civil rights. I have the great fortune to be from a county where Lutherans are the majority Church (many Norwegians as well as other Nordic and German populations). Lutherans here also offer themselves to whomever is interested and don't try to force their religion on the whole of society. It would be better for us if the Southern states were expelled from the US. Those like the Georgian pastor are an anchor holding back the whole of the American Society.

Anthony Potamitis I really don’t understand why everyone is freaking out about this video, first of all the country is going against freedom of religion by forcing a Catholic Church to preform gay marriages like wtf, and most people their are atheists since it’s fucking Europe and honestly I can say that things haven’t been doing so well their lately, most atheists see themselves as being a higher standard and smarter than a Christian, but it is so dumb, an atheist who denies the existence in god is stupid, so of the well known scientist out their (the smart ones) when asked do you think god is real they respond with, “well is god good” mainly b cause they know this claim isn’t outrageous, many things in science on how the universe began is said in the Bible, I do understand the fact that in time science will come up to an answer like it had before, but the further and further we understand how life is created as a whole I find the people who deny god immediately to be idiots and not true to science, their is still no understanding to how life was created to begin with (besides the experiment were amino acids were created by other surrounding chemicals), people always use this experiment to confirm how life began and it makes no sense, you would just have a bunch of ammino acids, then you take into account of evolution which doesn’t seem to make sense at all when you really think about it, I find it to be an excuse for how things are so they back it up with a couple of millions of years, people tell me we came from apes right? So your saying evolution (better adapting me to the world basically) has let me lose all my hair, jaw strength, arm strength, leg strength, sent etc, under what example would the mutation of me losing my jaw strength better help me in my environment. There is also the example of dinosaur bones contains tissue, if you don’t know what I’m talking about look into it, tissue doesn’t last a million years , only around 10000 years, strange right, but what scientists did was this experiment were the tissue was perfectly contained with no changes over a 2 year period, how does that relate to a million years?! They probably won’t go back to the experiment since it would bring so many questions to everything. The way we date Dino bones is from rock layers, so if said dino has tissue which only last a couple thousand years wouldn’t that mean our rock layers are dated incorrectly, shit no point in saying anything cause no one listens to another point in view it’s just fact,

@@mrpipper7271 - you seem confused about a number of topics, but to clarify on the State forcing the Church to perform marriages for all, they didn't. MrPipper Are you aware of how complex this universe is, how complex life is? Life itself could be a symptom of universe. Just because you don't understand it with your earthbound mind doesn't mean you should jump to your egoic conclusion that god made everything and assume that heaven and hell are real. I recommend you watch carl sagon: heaven and hell.. It shows how people throughout the past created their own truths of particular events because they didn't understand it. That exactly how religion works.

@@mrpipper7271 This comment is a shitstorm, let me break it down. 1. Freedom of religion doesn't mean allowing religious people to do anything they want because of their religion, it's about freedom of belief. The government is allowed to make restrictions and exceptions on any public place, and churches aren't an exception. And no they didn't force churches to perform same sex marriages, do your research. 2. The claim that atheists (almost) inherently view themselves as higher than religious people is just outrageous, and not based in any evidence. 3. An atheist is not stupid for denying the existence of god, there's simply no evidence for god. 4. No not every smart scientist would respond "well is god good?" And no it's not outrageous to claim god doesn't exist. 5. "Many things in science on how the universe began is said in the Bible," First, stop trying to push science in your direction, because the bible isn't science, it's the farthest thing from it. And sure you could say that the bible does have some verses that could be interpreted at things we know as true, but that doesn't make the bible scientific. The only way you could say the bible is scientific is by being incredibly deceptive, making some extreme assumptions, and of course cherry-picking. 6. None uses that experiment to confirm how life began. 7. You can't be against evolution once you understand it. Evolution doesn't only benefit, to put it simply, it adapts our needs. If we lose the need for hair, and say theres a mutation in the gene pool for someone to lose hair, and it carries on, then voila you have a new generation that most likely loses hair. 8. I don't know much about the dinosaur bones, but I do know under the right conditions (that are repeatable by anyone) almost any substance you can think of, including tissue can last indefinitely given a stable place (Also you pulled the 10000 number out of your ass.) Instead of actually addressing anything scientists say, you try to tarnish their reputation.

As a Swede myself, I can say that most people (my generation, 90s, and decades older than that) were brought up in a household and society completely free of any religion, so most of us never had that "aha" moment where we became atheist, we just always were and stuck with it as we got older. So if someone were to come up to me and ask if I believe in god, my reaction would be pretty much exactly the same as the people he asked, it’s sort of a sense of "of course not, why would I?" And if someone were to genuinely ask me why I became an atheist or what traumatic event caused me to become one, I would have no idea how to reply. I was just born and raised that way. I think it's mostly a religious objection. Many seem to believe that accepting evolution means denying the word of God. Or the Bible, as it were. There's also a huge religious propaganda market and very little pro-science advertising. People like Ken Ham or Ray Comfort make millions lying about evolution, releasing movies, doing interviews, etc. The religious give them a stage as long as they keep hearing things that deny evolution. But that's just how I see the situation. I'm sure there are other factors.

Even the priest said, "God has created love, not to make new generations, but to unite people". That sounds pretty sensible and straight forward to me. It's about time that the government superseded the church instead of the other way around. If you're religious, fine, but you have no right to create laws governing others who don't believe as you do, but rather by what is best for everyone and what everyone wants and, in this case, everyone falls more into the atheist sphere, not the religious sphere. If you want a theocracy, try Iran. How would you enjoy living there?

Anyway all the best with your religious dogma, it'll probably serve you very well in the bible belt and the south....but should you ever leave the eighteenth century you might want to go to a real school and get an education.

+frogstamper its not that all scientists are bad, but the fact that they have faith in atheism and christians have faith in God. Nobody on earth living right now was there at the beginning of the world. Therefore we must accept the fact that it will never be proven. Hint big bang THEORY, and theres a reason why its a theory.
@mrcrazyforever1900
@mrcrazyforever1900 9 лет назад
+Noah Castellon I won't be condescending in any way explaining this to you, but a "theory" in the scientific sense is completely different from the meaning the word has in an everyday situation. "The Big Bang Theory"; is called a theory, as most rational people acknowledge the fact that nothing can be absolutely proven, i.e. there will always be a slight possibility that what we regard as true, might actually be wrong. Thus, for a SCIENTIFIC hypothesis to be regarded as a theory, it must have been tested innumerable times in various ways and must still not have been disproven. As none of the test that have been performed have shown any indication of the Big Bang Theory being wrong, it becomes more and more likely to be correct (see: Karl Popper) Therefore, the word "theory" in science, is not a word you can use to discredit the likeliness of e.g. the Big Bang. Actually, the mere fact that it is indeed a "theory"; only strengthens the possibility of it being correct. Also, there is no "missing link", there are lots - and many of them have been discovered long ago. Some examples are: Homo floresiensis, Homo ergaster, Homo erectus, Australopiethecus africanus and Homo neanderthalensis. Just look it up.
@whalebait6155
@whalebait6155 9 лет назад

+Åsa S theres a difference between a murder case and the beginning of time. And faith in its general definition, only points out you having a strong belief in something. Bless you my beloved. The moment I went through my comments, I saw a revelation concerned you, your family and things around you. My dear, I saw God's favour, success, joy, breakthrough. Behind that, I saw more spiritual attack's from the enemies, working on holding such blessings, causing your set back, but you are lifted above any spiritual tower. So the Lord is instructing you to sow a seed of faith into a motherless babies home. (Orphanage), this is going to be a covenant seed between you and God. The Lord ask me to tell you before the end of (3) three days, you should try as much as possible to sow the seed into Godstime motherless babies home (orphanage) located in somewhere in Nigeria to bring spiritual and divine breakthrough in your life and that of your family because there is power in sowing of seed. Contact the orphanage home management or you can also whatsapp them on this number: +2348154975597. if you are through with this let me know so I give you guide lines on how you should pray. "Do you believe in god?" "No, i havent seen him" Most simple but logical answer
@TurtleTimeVoiceOvers

I was raised in a southern Baptist home. As a child I was never satisfied with answers my parents gave on things. Things that make even less sense as an adult. I haven’t gone to church on a regular basis since I was in high school. I got a job as quickly as I could that required me to work on Sundays. Since trump was elected, the last clinging of my belief in god and religion was totally destroyed as I watched every day religious people (like my parents) and evangelists defend trump. No matter what he did. Same people who were disgusted about Bill Clinton. I felt I could no longer look towards the “light house people” and institutions for spiritual and moral clarity. At that point, my disappointment in their obvious hypocrisy made the last bits of belief fade away. Now I’m agnostic with atheistic leanings.

Good for you. I love reading "success" stories. To brainwash children into ANY religion constitutes child abuse as far as I'm concerned. Especially those religions that preach that their way is the only true way, etc. etc. THAT IS A LIE and pounding lies into young heads is MUCH WORSE than other forms of physical and emotional abuse.

BeachGirl3031876 Same here man. Both my parents were Christians as I grew up (my mom more so than my dad). Growing up, nothing I learned from religion ever made sense to me. Here I am present day and both myself and my father are agnostic/spiritual atheists. We believe in the supernatural but we don't believe in an all mighty god who "made the earth in 7 days" and somehow created the entire human race with only 2 people and incest.

As a Christian i used to struggle to defend myself against legitimate questions even from people of different religions let alone atheists. Since becoming atheist and just accepting scientific fact i find that I've never "lost" a debate and I'm no where near as fluent in science as i was in the bible. Not that it's impressive or something to be proud of but it's interesting the mental acrobats religious people have to perform to explain against basic logical questions against their holy texts.

You'll have to look this up for further information, but I seem to recall some NPR podcast which fleshed out the relationship between Poland, the USSR, and the Catholic church. Evidently there was no simple way for the state to uproot or intimidate the Catholic church, being that the branches of the church all run back to the trunk, tucked safely away in Vatican City. So, the story goes that Catholicism was used as a substrate for ideological resistance, communal identity, and in some ways, personal freedom. I may have gotten some of that wrong, but I remember the story being quite compelling. You should read up on it, if you get a chance.

+Todd Stevens No. The title one recieves when becoming clergy in denmark is "Præst". It comes from the greek word "presbytos" meaning Elder, and is the same word that gave us "Priest". Whatever branch of christianity one hails to make no matter; the one leading the sermon; is considered the local church elder, hence the word "priest". They are very much priests
