True childhood sweethearts are a rarity, and I felt truly blessed to capture the special day of Georgie and Cory who have known each other since they were 11 years old. From getting to know their family and friends and hearing the love story, it is evident that everyone predicted this marriage from the very beginning. Everyone, that is, except the bride and groom. After years of “Will they? Won’t they?” Georgie and Cory finally made it official and I couldn’t have been happier that they trusted me with their wedding film. So, on a sweltering August day in 2022, I headed to Dodmoor House in Northamptonshire.
I love, love, love this venue. It’s a home away from home for me and I’m there so often that I should be their recommended wedding filmmaker (hint hint, Dodmoor! I’ll fetch the drone!). At the centre of the venue is a stunning courtyard, surrounded by gorgeous historic barns and sprawling lawns. A real stand-out feature of this venue is its adaptability for outdoor ceremonies. Dodmoor House offers four different outdoor ceremony locations: The Courtyard, The Drive, The Front Lawn and the Catesby Lawn. So, if you’ve got your heart set on tying the knot outdoors, then you’re really spoilt for choice at Dodmoor. Receptions are held in The Catesby Barn: a Grade II listed double-height building with an elegant mezzanine level overlooking the main reception space and a cosy bar tucked away at the top for those who prefer a late-night chat to throwing some shapes on the dancefloor. I don’t blame you if your moves are anything like Cory’s on that stag do.
