The Taran empire was based largely on the Roman empire. Don't forget no TV no internet This was entertainment back in those days so you had to make it good.
Dictatorships tend to have GREAT graphic design - the Propaganda Ministry finds the best designers, and gives them jobs. They can also produce some pretty good music, for an opposite reason: Instrumental music is, ultimately, abstract. It doesn't "mean" anything. It can tell a story in notes - but WHAT story? If it isn't an opera, no one can really tell. Note that Shostakovich only ran afoul of Stalin after producing an opera: "Lady Macbeth of Mtensk."
yeah, i noticed it too, as if her crown was meant to be placed exactly around the ball of fire with its radiating design. it really compliments each another......i think the film crew must've noticed it too and purposely shot that scene at that particular angle .....it was briliant
@@commenter4898 yes, i believe it is meant to align with her crown. After that, the new mother ship is meant to signify her her place and status in the universe. So in a way, perhaps the crown and balls of fire were intended to be as one
Interestingly, politicians do this intentionally. Just look at how certain photos of Joe Biden are set up to have the presidential seal or some other circular object behind his head, implying divinity.
I thought she was amazing as Captain Georgiou, but the moment she was revealed as the Terran Emperor in DIS Season 1, I fell in love with her more!!! And now she has this shot of an amazing crown with the Charon's core shining behind her. Uggh! She is so extra and I live live live!!!
@@andytay5507 My point is more that we've seen two versions of Mirror Stamets so far, and both have had all of 5 seconds of screentime before being suddenly and brutally killed
The Cirque Soeil thing is interesting. Guess the producers got the idea from Hamlet. He wrote a play which was performed in front of his uncle to prove to himself that he is the one who killed his father. It was performed exactly how his father described his own murder.
Star Wars has Emperor Palpatine ----- Star Trek has The Mother of the Fatherland, Overlord of Vulcan, Dominus of Qo' Nos, Regina Andor, All Hail the Emperor Philippa Georgiou Augustus Iaponius Centarius, Long Live The Empire.
I’ve been critical of STD but they really nailed it with the mirror universe episodes. The mirror universe storyline at the end of season 1 I think really saved that season. This is really enjoyable stuff. The prime character seems so boring after watching them like this.
@@IronSpyder-ky2lkNot sure if I’d prefer that but I would definitely wished there was more of it, a whole lot more! 50/50 would work for me or something along those lines, perhaps 60/40 or at least 70/30 would have already made a huge difference to me.
I smell a new terran expansion for Star Trek Online federation vs terrain empire endgame taking place after Klingon civil war endgame arc hoping each gives players the choice of your destiny leads
Mirror Universe-Tilly was such an amazing change from Prime-Tilly, always wondered if the writers overdid Prime-Tilly's insecurity and meekness early on in the series because they knew the Mirror Universe version was coming, and they wanted the differences to hit even harder.
About as good as when the TOS era Defiant ended up in the Enterprise era. The Terran empire was on the verge of being defeated by a Vulcan / Andorian / Tellarite alliance before Archer came to the rescue. One thing I quite like, though, is how in the 24th century we see that the Terrans have been overthrown, made into slaves, and for a second time find salvation in the form of a technologically superior prime universe ship named Defiant.
I think the Q or "carl" removed all of that technology only what she saw or remembered is the only thing left for her to give unless she analyze the 32nd century technology thoroughly
I love how the more clips I stumble across the less I like the look of this show but then again prefer a film where I can get the story concluded in 1 sitting
When going over her titles it would have been awesome if there was the phrase ," Daughter of Heaven", as a reference to Imperial China, to go with "daughter of Rome".
Stamet was working in Charon back in Season 1 but now he is trying to kill the emperor…if he succeeded doing so how can still be a scientist on board the Charon? Even the emperor survived Stamet assassination attempt, he would’ve been executed at that time?
Mirror universe with Emperor Georgiou are only parts worth watching. Now the reason why she stayed in the prime universe is revealed. The Terran Empire is falling apart, there are very little places left to conquer and the number of rebellions are doubling every year. The federation gave the emperor another perspective of how the Terran Empire can be saved.
@@johntrevy1 I think it really depends on the broad morality from the poeple in the society & the how the goverment generally sets out to conduct itself. The more dictatorial the higher chance. The 1930s was a highpoint for things like that in the 3 major dictatorships. Japan for example pretty much had a "goverment by assasination" then.
When I say this I'm not drawing into question the actor's abilities, but it gave me such a bad vibe to see Stammitz get stabbed here because he seemed like the exact same one from the real world
with those behaviour I can't imagine how terran empire able to survive that long or build a ship like what starfleet has, even if they're comfortable with hostile working environment, killing their superior for the rank or position is a waste of talent.
hi, i'm dude that clicked on this video randomly but i have a question, is their hand gesture suppose to be a "subtle" indication that they're like nazis or is it one of those shows that beat you over the head with it?
This is either a simulation or an alternate reality of the mirror reality. It's also possible that he was revived and placed in a coma, by the time Discovery crossed over to the Mirror universe, seeing as how he was the engineer behind the Super-mycelial reactor.
In the original timeline, Lorca's plot was discovered and Burnham ran off when he was found out, so Stamets never tried to assassinate the Emperor and he stayed on the ship. That's why when Burnham returned she was received cordially, because originally no proof of her involvement was known outside. Remember, originally Lorca's disappearance made it impossible for Georgiou to ascertain the extent of the plot. This time she arrived already in full knowledge of how EVERYTHING was going to pan out.
@@Stranglars1 If this is real I think it is her original universe just back in time considering she would need to return to the original universe to survive. She went back in time so presumably can alter events.
It’s worth noting that Spock was half-Terran. Prior to Discovery the mirror universe appeared in TOS, DS9, and ENT; Vulcans served in the Terran Starfleet alongside Andorians, Denobulans, Orions, and Tellarites. Spock was the first officer of the mirror enterprise; in ENT I think there was both an Andorian and Vulcan bridge officer. In canon it isn’t clear what the relationship between say a Vulcan and his or her human subordinate might have been, but it didn’t look positions in starfleet depended entirely on species. It is clear, however, that non-Terrans were just as dedicated to the Empire as their human counterparts.
There are non-canon books which talk about how Vulcans achieved a “first among the aliens” status where an Empress took an andorian consort and found herself saved by a Vulcan who was a former adversary. This would explain why Spock was first officer of the ISS Enterprise, but not why Archer was willing to give that position to T’Pal.
