The Moz7 is the latest 7.5 long-range quad from ‪@geprc‬ It's beautifully designed, it flies super smooth, and with the right batteries you can get up to 30 minutes of flight time!

I built mine up using ‪@EMAXUSA‬ EcoII 2807 1300kv motors. I chose these motors for this long-range build because I was looking for a balance between power & efficiency, and these 2807's are quite a bit lighter than GepRC's 2809's.
Here is is on GetFPV: bit.ly/GetMoz7
I also included a chapter on how I setup and use GPS in my drone - Yes, I have lost long-range drone before 😭. But never again since now I log GPS telemetry data in my radio in two ways 😀

Thanks a lot for watching! I did cover the gist at 24:11, but the video just got too long to to a proper tutorial. I will try to do that soon, but in the meantime, here is Oscar Liang's excellent blog post on how to set up telemetry logging in your radio, i.e., saving GPS coordinates on to an SD card. oscarliang.com/log-telemetry/ I also recommend displaying GPS coordinates on a screen in your radio, that way you have it available immediately when you are on top of a mountain with no computer!

I would highly recommend logging GPS telemetry data to your SD card, and ideally displaying it on a screen in your radio... I learned that lesson the hard way when my quad went down... I only had GPS in my OSD but the quad had drifted a ways from the moment I lost video so I never did find it : ( Like I mentioned in the video, now I literally do lost drone drills... I just grap the GPS from my radio and type it into Google Maps to make sure all is good, because if I ever do need them, I will probably be far from a computer and in a bad way! @@lomtikster

Another good video would be about installing GPS units on other pre-built drones that dont have these out of the box like Cinebot etc. I carry Cinebot as a backup drone but hesitant to send it out further or over the water. There are not many easy instructional videos out there, like which 3D printed GPS holder options exist that you can adapt, etc.
@colibrifpv
@colibrifpv 7 месяцев назад
Great idea, I also like to have GPS units on just about all my quads. They are cheap and easy to setup so why not??? If you failsafe over water that would be the difference between an easy recovery or losing your drone. GPS installation on the cinebot is very easy, you just need a spare UART and 5v pad on your FC and then set it up in Betaflight. I recommend the GEPRC M10 GPS units, they work great and are not too expensive bit.ly/GEPM10 The iFlight GPS units are also great but they are much more $$.

The o3 air unit only uses 1 antenna, but this kit uses two. Where does the other antenna hook up too? If you pointed this out in the video, sorry i didnt see it. I ordered this frame and cant wait to build it! Im also going to be using a mamba stack, and i already have the same emax motors that you are using, but i decided to go with the fpvcycle 2809 1300kv, since they almost weigh the same!! I dont know how they did it. Going to be using a gopro 10 bones, and 7 inch props. I ordered the gemfan 7035 carbon nylon props that are favorited right now or was. Hope they work ok as a 7.5. MOZ7 (original one) is a very good machine however, the "Black Spot " and very important if you want to make LR is the FC +ESC ... They OVERHEAT after 7 to 10 min after you powered on... They need a constant air breeze to cooled down wich is not a problem in flight but wich is a bit ennoying if you land unexpectedly a bit far ... roasted FC 😢 More over when you connect it to computer to make some adjustments this will bother a bit cause you'll have ~7 min to set up your FC if you don't have a constant fans on it ... About VTX you need to rework the side plate if you use a Walksnail (a little bit too large ) but ok 2809 MOTOR very good ! Powerfull responsive heavy but they have no O-ring to protect bearing... wich is on they commercial... (if my memory good enough)

Hey Gregory, thanks for watching! Side panels are a pretty new thing, most drones have not had them so those hot electronics are free to breathe. With the trend towards side panels to make drones look cleaner (and more durable), air ducts are definitely required to allow those hot VTX's to breathe!

Hey Chris, Aloha from the Ecuadorian Andes! I have a Lumenier "AXII Duality" antenna on the way, they were on backorder for forever but now are in stock, here's a link if you want to check them out bit.ly/LumO3 If you want to try one, grab it quick, GetFPV told me they are likely to be out of stock again soon. To clarify, the stock antennas do give you some very impressive range with the O3 system, it's not like it's unflyable or anything, it just isn't as good as it COULD be with antennas made specifically for the O3....Also, if you are using older goggles (V1 or V2) then just stick to the stock antennas, but these should give you better range with Goggles Integra or Goggles 2. If you do try them, let me know how it goes. I will be testing them myself, but they won't get to me here in Ecuador for another few weeks....

@colibrifpv

That's a tough decision because they are all great, but I would go Croc7 BNF. It is a tad lighter and more efficient than the Moz7 and has slightly smaller motors but will still have loads of power and longer flight times. The Chimera is also a solid choice, but my opinion is that GepRC's electronics are higher quality and have a lower failure rate.

really great video. But there is a small error in it. When you indicate that a 15cm replacement O3 coaxial cable should be enough, this is incorrect. The standard O3 coaxial cable listed as 115mm in the DJI specs is actually what they sell as a 15cm cable when measured stretched tip-to-tip. So you need to get either the 17cm or the 20cm replacement cable. I found out the hard way, when I ordered a replacement 15cm cable.
@colibrifpv
@colibrifpv 6 месяцев назад
Hi, thanks a lot for point that out, I'm really sorry if I got that wrong and it caused you to buy the wrong cable! I didn't know that the length includes the connectors.... hopefully that 15cm (or 115mm) cable will be useful in another build? I had bought a pair of the 20cm cables to have on hand (I live in South America and shipping takes a month) and there is plenty of extra so I assumed the shorter one would fit. Nothing worse than sitting down to build and finding out your components aren't compatible. Hope your build is going well, aside from that!

I think those motors would do great but you would probably want to go a tad higher in KV for 4s (these also come in 1500kv and 1700kv). I suppose 1300kv would work on 4s, especially if you could manage 7.5" props, and if your build is super lightweight, but I would still go 1500kv. @colibrifpv
@colibrifpv 3 месяца назад
Yes, there definitely is. You could easily install the original air unit with double-sided tape and zip ties. However, you would have to remove the side plates because the original Air Unit is wider than the O3, so you have to decided how important those are to you. They do look very cool, any maybe they do keep your electronics cleaner, but from a performance perspective the drone will fly without that weight and they are not necessary at all.

Hey, no worries, I'm happy to have the feedback... re: Starship, yeah, I was being sarcastic 😁 Yes, it's a bunch of marketing BS, but it hardly looks like other 7" frames... GepRC is competing with the Chimera7, which also looks pretty badass. Did you see at 6:45 I compared the Moz7 with the Chimera 7, and mentioned you can leave out 60g worth of unnecessary parts like the feet and side-plates? You are right about the range tests... but I did include range/flight time tests in a later review on li-ion batteries: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qdu24dkpwbQ.html I also upgraded the stock antennas with Lumenier Dualitiy antennas, which are much better, but I haven't had a chance to finish editing that one. This is not the best frame for maximum range or flight times unless you strip it down - it's just too heavy. If you want maximum flight times or range, consider the Foxeer Aura frame, or the new Johnny FPV 7" bit.ly/QAVFPV7, or if you are on a budget, the SourceOne 7". As for perfect reception, get yourself some Crossfire or ELRS and a DJI O3 and I highly recommend upgrading to the Lumenier Duality antennas... bit.ly/LumO3. They DO make a difference, and I will have a video up whenever I get the chance to finish editing it... This is a 30 minute video with loads of honest criticism, build tips, tips on setting up GPS, etc. I did receive the frame free (which I said) but I paid for over 80% of the build). Did u connect the gps to the gps mate??
@colibrifpv
@colibrifpv 3 месяца назад
Yes I did! Honestly, gps mate isn't so necessary with m10 gps because they get sats so quickly, but the integrated battery powered buzzer is nice to have too. Cool little gadget!

What FC/ESC did you run with this setup

Hey 👋 I used a Diatone Mamba MK4 with a 65a ESC

@@colibrifpv thanks! I guess that Emax does take a lot of amps
@colibrifpv

Those motors are actually pretty efficient, especially the way I fly, nice and gentle for long flights with li-ion batteries, and a 50-55a would be plenty, but I has the 65a ESC around from last year's Black Friday from RDQ, so I used it! @@houdhoud313

if i were to use 2 6s 1300 mah batterys making it a 2600 mah battery then it should be ok to use
@colibrifpv
@colibrifpv 7 месяцев назад
Yes, a 2600 6s would be a great match for a 7" long-range drone! YOu might also want to consider some of GEPRC's huge li-ion packs, they are a bit expensive but you will get much linger flight times!

if i choose to use the v2 goggles will i need to plug in my phone
@colibrifpv
@colibrifpv 7 месяцев назад
No, that is something that DJI did with the Avata drone, FPC drones like this one will work without plugging in to your phone.

long range ...... hom many km ?
@colibrifpv
@colibrifpv 3 месяца назад
With the right batteries you can fly this drone out several km without any problems. I changed the antenas to Lumenier diversity and I can easily get out 3km, I have no need to go further than that but the drone definitely could go further. Over a certain distance and you'll want a lighter drone for better efficiency I think.

couldn't you just put an air tag on it
@colibrifpv
@colibrifpv 3 месяца назад
No, not really. Seems like you could though, right? Problem is airtags use the network of iphones that are present in any given area to communicate their location, at least as far as I understand that tech. Any place you would be flying and crashing this drone wouldn't have all those bluetooth connections available, unless you lost your drone in a mall...

stealth ? these motors are screaming when I fly over 40km/h

Right, a quad this heavy is always going to make a good amount of noise, I just meant the LED's attract even more attention, which some people may not want.
@Spacecazeka

@@colibrifpv but it is still less noisy than a 5 inch right?
@colibrifpv
@colibrifpv 5 месяцев назад
Yes, in general larger props are less noisy, with a deeper pitch, than smaller ones, but it does depend alot on the weight and how you fly. With a massive battery, this thing does make some noise! @@Spacecazeka
