I was on my way to work at the nursing home where I was a social worker when KPRS 103.3 Historically owned Black radio station announced Gerald LaVert died. There was no time to process it. The tears just rolled down my face. I's the youngest of 4. and played music all the time at home. My sister especially loved the Mighty O'Jays. And Gerald had that robust Man voice just like his Dad. And his songs often gave us a glimpse at his sincere vulnerability.

But, he eventually came around & supported them N EVERYTHING that they wanted 2 do. When they would sing, "The Wind Beneath my Wing's" . Eddie would b almost N tears 🥲. But.... they were happy tears. He was sooooo proud 2 b his son's idol. I believe that the over exerted himself on stage bcuz he DEFINITELY gave u your 💵 💵 💵's worth 🗣️🎙️ & then some 💯... And a lotta times they DON'T go 2 the doctor like they REALLY should bcuz they DON'T feel BAAAD! THAT blood pressure & diabetes is at the top of the line of silent killer's among African American Men! Bcuz that was REALLY a shock ⚡
My mom got her wish. She loved Gerald Levert so much. She finally got to hug her teddy bear December 4th 2017. May him and my mom rest in eternal and godly peace ❤️
It's 2024 still listening to it reminds me of my sister who is deceased now she use to jam this song all day and every day when I was about 9 years old now I'm jamming it in 2024 rest in peace my family and the Levert brothers 😢😢❤❤❤

I got to see Gerald in Biloxi Mississippi and he held my hand and sang this song 🎼 🎶 My My I felt like I was in heaven 💗. I didn't want to turn his hand loose and I looked over to the right side and saw his bodyguard coming my way.. had to let him go 😥
