Geraldine Leigh Chaplin was born in Santa Monica, California, to Oona Chaplin (née O'Neill) and legendary entertainer Charles Chaplin (A.K.A. Charlie Chaplin). She is a granddaughter of playwright Eugene O'Neill and a great-granddaughter of stage actor James O'Neill. She attended the Royal Ballet Academy in London. She was discovered by David Lean when she was dancing in Paris, which led to her role in Doctor Zhivago (1965). She has two children, Shane and Oona Chaplin.

Oh damn her accent is mixed. I'd never heard her speak before and I didn't know what it was since she was born in America but is also British yet lives in Spain and her voice sounds like all of it.

British father, American mother, she really didn’t live in America, she was educated in England and France, and then she moved to Spain and she also lived part time in Switzerland. She’s had two long time relationships with Spanish speaking men. So she’s acquired accents from all those places.

What a loveable, intelligent, warm-hearted and beautiful women she is! Just the right amount of charming crazyness (at least in her dressing style). She touches me. And she is in my private gallery of great women I like to follow since my teen days.

I love the fact that she was at Michael Moore’s film festival.... both Moore and Geraldine’s father have tried to make the world better through the use of cinema.

I enjoyed her portrayal as Aunt Gladys in Home for the Holidays. Her character was funny, pathetic, thoughtful, and loving. All the while, her character was mentally leaving the family via dementia. Brilliant!

Any one know if there are any interveiws she talks about Carlos Saura and their relationship? I know they were partners and she stared in many of his movies in which she is great!
