In a sence thats the element of MCR that I DO hear in this, and that's the concept of sounding different on every record and project. Gerard is a wonderful artist who changed his sound yet again... it's really inspiring, and I'm stoked to see what's next.

Well you're forgetting Ray, who undoubtedly is the most technically proficient in the band (especially considering Frank doesn't even know how to play scales). Ray also seems to have the most production knowledge of the bunch which would contribute heavily to the sound on the finished albums.
Im sorry but people need to accept that this is a Gerard Way album, not an MCR one so they should stop comparing it. Personally, I like it. It's refreshing :)
I went into an alleyway and met a woman called Maya the Psychic. She gave me a Bureau which contained some tickets and Drugstore Perfume. The tickets were worth Millions, so I took my Brother to see the concert but found out that there were No Shows.
I just listened to danger days and it has similarities to this stuff. That's why I don't understand all the hate for his new music. Plus it's amazing. DO ME A FAVOR: if you don't like it now, come back to it later when you're cleaning house or something. It grows on you. When I first heard this album, I only had a few favorites, now I'm like "THIS IS THE BEST MUSIC WHAT WAS I THINKING??!!!!"

I just giggled, but like I listened to MCR and wore brightish colors, I loved drawing evil things but I draw my comics with mostly contrast with bright colors and black :) so its interesting with all these people saying they wore all black and dressed emo, because to me, emo is a weird music that doesnt exist ( if you get what im saying. I just dont consider it a good genre to put MCR and Green Day because they dont fit with the rest?) and also I dont get this aversion to color, I love color but then again I do art and I have a weird relationship with color.How do people choose a fave color anyways? first of all: this album is beyond awesome. I found MCR after they broke up and I really started to love their music and got so sad to find out they're not a band anymore. It made me really depressive since they're my favorite band. Now that i've found this album all my sadness is gone. Hearing Gerard making music again is so refreshing and beautiful I can't really put it in words. I think it will help me to get over the break up of mcr
To everyone who is giving this hate, I'm sorry that you only like Sleeping With Sirens, Pierce The Veil, Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Black Veil Brides, Falling In Rev,erse, The Used, Bring Me The Horizon, Fallout Boy, and Panic At The Disco but some people like more than one kind of music, so how about let Gerard play what he likes, if you don't like it don't listen to it, if you like it check out 80s synth pop The Cure, Duran Duran, and Depeche Mode if you haven't given those bands a listen already and if for some reason you haven't checked out David Bowie fans of this will probably enjoy Bowie

He says just that on a letter he wrote a few days after the breakup " I hollowed out, stopped listening to music, never picked up a pencil, started slipping into old habits. All of the vibrancy I used to see became de-saturated. Lost. I used to see art or magic in everything, especially the mundane- the ability was buried under wreckage. " do you really wanted him to continue like that? it was THEIR OWN CHOICE. for THEIR OWN GOOD. they dont owe you anything. they decided to end it, they are good with it. if you don't like it, it's your own problem. but would you really like Gerard to return to alcoholism? do you? if you want him to be in that state just so MCR will still exist, thats FUCKED UP Gerard is happy now, Frank is happy, Mikey is happy, Ray is happy. they made their choice. you are not the one to change it. don't like their new music? so dont listen to it, just like that.
omg thank you for saying all that... if they hadn't disbanded, mcr would've still died. they'd still be together, but just a shell of their old music and success, unable to continue or make new music. nothing ever lasts, and sometimes its better to just break it off than keep living unhappily. They left us with amazing music to remember them by, and they still live on when we play their music. Like they said, my chemical romance was just an idea, an idea that will live on forever as long as we keep it in our hearts. their music was immortal. but they arent immortal. they are humans, they change, they develop, and you can't expect them to be stuck in one period of their lives forever.

Nearly every comment is about missing MCR. Yes I miss them but this is JUST Gee this is the real him. MCR broke up but that was a year ago nearly 2 now. Just try his new style. If you hate it, fair enough but don't compare to the band because Gee is not a whole band himself.
So we're not allowed to miss them? I agree, Gerard needs recognition for his doing his own thing. But we all know the only reason about 50% of his current fans (maybe more) listen to him now is because he WAS the MCR frontman for 12 years, although I personally think this music is amazing.
I personally like MCR's music better, but Gerard's new music is still super awesome! I'm so happy he continued making music because I absolutely adore his gorgeous as hell voice.

I think that you don't understand. MCR saved so many lives and fans were really attached to the band and the lyrics they had. It's not that easy to move on from what was the reason why you wouldn't commit suicide or self-harm, etc. I agree, they don't need to comment about it EVERYWHERE but if they are having a hard time moving on, I guess it would be nicer from you to help them instead of judge them.

I am very happy that Gerard has moved on and created this album. For myself, I am not a big fan of this genre but I am very proud of him and I hope he continues on this path for years to come. Not my preferred taste, but I will continue to support Gerard and the others whether I like what they are producing or not. :-)

It's funny reading comments such as 'Gerard has lost a fan' or 'This is terrible'. Each to their own of course. I'm probably an outsider commenting on this video because personally i'm not into My Chemical Romance, it's just not my bag at all other than the odd song here and there but I do like this record. From what little I know of Gerard Way he also seems a really down to earth bloke.....ultimately he's making music that he likes and he should be applauded for that. Variety is the spice of life and all that :)
I haven't listened to Mikey's (Electric century, right?) YET, and I've heard only one of Ray's singles and it further convinced me that yes, he is in fact a ray of sunshine. So far, its mainly been Frank's and Gerard's work outside of MCR that I am probably going to follow, of course buying ray's singles as well. I just figured since I haven't listened completely to Ray's work and at all to Mikey's yet, I cannot formulate an opinion.

It's great watching Gerard become more confident about himself and its great watching Frank and Ray and Mikey voice their thoughts and feelings as individuals. It's also amazing because you can see in their individual work just what parts of MCR they influenced.

"his music isn't the same!" yeah, okay, granted. but i mean, he did say in multiple interviews this would be more influenced by britpop. not to mention mcr was a BAND, meaning all the members contributed to the music's sound and feel. this is purely Gee. I mean, you can hate it all you want, but don't try to make others hate it just because you're mad the band ended. Gerard said that MCR was never meant to be a forever deal, and it sucks, it makes me sad, but even if i didn't enjoy his new stuff (which i positively do), i would respect his artistic abilities and just go "meh, not my thing". there's no need to fight about it. Gerard said he doesn't want to fight about his music, which is why he doesn't really anymore. He's just doing his own thing. You do yours. No need to be rude.

We met up with Zero Zero and Juarez, We were gonna see that movie, the one called Action Cat. After the movie, we went and got some Drugstore Perfume, and some concert tickets to a band we didn't even know. They ended up being No Shows, not surprising, but, that's How's it Going to Be.
When I first started listening to this, I sat there in confusion, paused the video, then closed it. A few months later, I tried listening to it again and damn, it became my favourite album of 2014/15.
brother and no shows (and millions) are my personal favorites, im so proud of gerard. im still a huge fan of mcr, and i'm very happy gerard has been able to move on along with frank and mikey, i cant wait to hear more!

Gerard would have been a lot more comfortable within the 80's/90's where he could have truly been himself and expressed himself musically to his desire. I think he got caught up in a popular fabricated scene which spawned from a respectable beginning. I truly upsets me how everything for the past 10 years keeps getting recycled and artists aren't aloud to move past their roots without being ridiculed. There will always be listeners open to new stuff. You might not sell as much as the flavor of the week but you'll still have you integrity as an artist.
Darren Brown To be honest, I really love this new stuff. I loved that he is influenced by these genres and has gone and made an album in the midst of a musical crisis where everyone *has* to like what all the popular artists are releasing, which is all the same thing. It's really good.

I miss MCR as a band, yes. But hey! Gee's making music! And he's happy. I will listen to anything he puts out solo, and love it. It's just because he's better. This does have some darker elements of Gerard's older works, but the style of Danger Days and some new elements. I don't understand why fans are dropping. It's not my favorite from him, but I do enjoy it.

This whole album is such a piece of art! Drugstore Perfume is my favorite, but all these songs are amazing! What bugs me is when people say "I don't like it, Gerard, can you please go back to MCR style?" or whatever... It's a completely different style of music. People change and sometimes have to move on. The band split for good reasons, even if it is sad. I get that. I'm a MCR fan too. But we have to be happy that they're still friends and they're all still making music - and doing really well with it! Because this is some pretty awesome music!

I mean, I constantly think of what will happen to me when he dies... I'll probably be depressed and die from it. But anyways, back to the butthurt people. News flash: many people like different genres of music, and many people like to SING difference genres of music. Maybe you like mcr but not this, and that's okay. That's your style. I don't understand how people don't like this. MCR is my favorite band so I was a little nervous about Gerard doing a solo project, but I am so blown away! Idk about other people, but I lost some hope after hearing "No Shows". Honestly not a fan of that song. But after hearing the rest of the album I've regained hope. But that being said, MCR and Gerard way are very very different sounds. This is more laid back where as MCR was more loud, rock out and in your face. So it's perfectly understandable to me...

Christopher Wallace I don't think it's really that alternative/emo got played out, it's still a big thing, just morphed. I think it's just Gerard himself has moved past that time in his life, and this new style of music is representative of him now. I personally am not that into it, but maybe in a couple of years, I'll be in that stage, who knows.
