Gerber has been making multitools with out the front pliers for a very long time. I have had one for over 15 years and all I had to do was put some lock tight on the pliers so they wouldn't come apart.

Meh, I like Gerber. The tool I carry everyday is a Leatherman Charge tti, but I have no issues with my Gerber 600. I carried that for a long time. Alot of people have a hate on for Gerber but not me. I own many of their knives and tools and none but their Instant have ever let me down.

I have a very early edition of the Flik that's probably 15 years old or more that I still use every day. Sure, the knives are dull but that's to be expected. I'll probably pick up the newer iteration in the near future. These tools are better than Leatherman IMHO, based on one-handed operation.

Great review. I think Gerber has a great art deoartment. Lots of their stuff looks angular and fierce, but the products themselves are paper tigers, with either low grade materials or QC letting them down. That said, one of my favorite knives is the Bear Grylls paracord. Really solid, I would recommend it to everyone.

that tool is tough as hell and highly stain resistant. discontinnued because niche market and no one bought it. sad

Hey Krik! Now I know you are making a point about cost and the idea behind the gerber flick which I totally agree with... but knowing your love for Swiss Army knives go try the swisstool x...not the spirit x the bigger brother... it’s got everything you want from a tool on there with Victorinox build quality.. everything you love about the farmer and fieldmaster with healthy dose of the leatherman wave make it the best there is.... period

I have a Gerber mini Multitool in my compact bugout bag but I use a Leatherman Wave for everyday carry.

There should also be a hidden lanyard ring in the slot that has the bottle opener and flat head screw driver

The one i bought must have been a total lemon. It is not a one handed tool. The thing jams up 14/15 ttimes and will not work in a flik motion. It requires two hands and does not slide almosts needs to be forced up and down. I will be returning mine.

Gerber Diesel is made china, I never buy it. I sold my Gerber Flick cos it is also made china. my Gerber Dime which is made in china broke twice. they replace me with a new set. I m trying to sell it away.
