Gerbing Heated Gloves | Honest Review
I hate getting cold hands while I ride, and I've tried every measure to keep my digits warm in the winter months. So far, this is the best thing I've found to combat the winter chill. If I had the inclination or road in the cold more often I'd probably get the vest as well, but for now just having something on the bike that is heated is enough.

A few years ago, after trying a variation of heated grips, heated handlebar muffs and the like I bought a pair of Gerbing XR12.heated gloves. I believe these have now been replaced by the XR Xtreme, the ones being tested in this video. I am happy to report that the gloves are still going strong and the leather & stitching is all good after many thousands of miles. They are far superior to aforementioned heated grips and I have never suffered from even slightly cold hands with these gloves. The reviewer is correct in stating that the warmth is not like holding your hands by a fire to warm them up but that is not the point. They just, work keeping your hands warm all day long in the most severe of conditions. Personally I avoided the battery operated option due to cost, faffing about charging batteries and the limited time allowed riding. Also I was concerned about overall battery life. Once the wiring harness is in place it is a matter of seconds to hook up and ride away, all day if you want, without worrying about running out of charge. You don't have to connect to an ignition source straight to the bike battery is fine because it is impossible to leave the gloves on when you walk away from the bike.

I have just invested in a Keis long sleeve jacket, with heat controller from sportsbikeshop. It has transformed my winter riding. Normally only need Medium or Low heat. I plug it into the bikes battery. Keis do an adapter that plugs into a SAE battery tender cable, so easy to fit. Now I look forward to those colder rides. I find the jacket as it heats my core temp, the hands are slightly warmer than normal. Good review, thanks 👍

Very good review. I've just bought a pair of these gloves and agree with all of your obesrvations. I have an old BMW airhead with no heated grips or hand protectors so the gloves seemed a good option. I decided not to buy the batteries and go for the wired option. It was a chew on routing the cables through my jacket but once I had it just right it is very easy to hookit all up. I got the optimate adapter which has added about 10 inches to the cable and made them just the right length to easily connect it to the bike. If I was to go down the battery route I would be tempted to buy 2 sets of the 2Ah (being slightly smaller and lighter) and rig up a charger to work on the bike to charge the seccond pair of batteries which could be stored under the seat. This would stop the need to be wired up and with the batteries you can wear them off the bike to warm up quickly when you stop.

I thought about getting a battery operated pair but the wired gloves are a great add on to any rider your journey can be as long as you need

Just wired up my pair of XR this morning, went on a 30 min run on dual carriage way (so at speed). At first I felt a little disappointed that my hands didn't get really hot on the highest setting.. however I have read this in some other reviews, and the thing is my hands were not cold in the slightest. Got mine new for £100 off ebay

Nice honest review. I have no experience with heated gloves, but find the heated grips and handguard combo very warm at zero on my Suzuki, and the heated grips and big pair of gauntlets work well on my ZRS. As a vlogger, the thought of charging something else is not appealing, but...like you say, they are more versatile than grips as they can come with you! Cheers.

That does sound like a good option, I really should try hand guards at some point.

Riding all year round means my cables live in my jackets/Jeans - the answer to the faff problem is I 3d printed some clips to keep the plug at the end of the sleeve and jacket so it doesnt dissapear up the sleeve - they're also weak enough that if I have an off theyll just snap without worry of them stabbing me!

I have the old XR (about 7 years old now) on 100% setting and -5C they burn my skin. Another thing if you like rinding off-road, you stand up or you plan to 'leave' :| the bike in a haste. Trust me that easily disconecting feature is a blessing.

RST Paragon gloves, best thing I've ever done for winter riding, the highest setting basically sets your hands on fire! I tried some Gerbings and they were awful in comparison, the only thing you can't do is plug them in to your bike.

I wouldn’t waste my time or money on Gerbing. Anything that “attaches” me to the bike is bullshit. Rechargeable gloves can last up to six hours on a low to medium setting. That’s more than enough heat for any ride.

Do they actually heat any part of your fingers? Because my handpalm isnt usually the problem, it's my fingertips that are freezing off.
@RarefiedRoad
@RarefiedRoad 4 года назад
Yeah the benefit to the gloves is the heating goes all the way along the back of the hand to the finger tips so it keeps your whole hand warm enough.
@robbikebob
@robbikebob 4 года назад
I'd worry more about girth than length. As in does the battery make it too bulky to go inside a jacket yet not forgiving enough to stretch over a bulky winter jacket? I once bought a cheap (as in very) pair of 'heated' gloves but they near enough went straight in the bin! Every winter I consider heated gloves or grips, but for the 4 or 5 days that I could really do with them I really can't justify the ££££ it would cost me. If I had to commute, I'd definitely get something heated!
@RarefiedRoad
@RarefiedRoad 4 года назад
Yeah they're actually a pretty decent fit. They fit easily over the cuff so it never feels like it interferes. But it is very expensive if someone only used their bike for pleasure then it would be a waste of time because you're unlikely to be out when it's cold enough to need them. They make me happy though.

The heated element is pointless in these. I know when my heated grip's are on, but these things.... Never know if they're on, or not. The new model they've made are supposed to be hotter, but you have to hold the button for 10 seconds to change it to the hottest setting!!! I do like the actual glove, but not worth buying for the heated element.

I have had Girbing heated gloves for over 20 years. I suffer from White Finger so heated grips i tried were no good but be warned the lifetime garrantee requires the original reciept from an approved retailer. I am on my 5th pair which i am returning as the left hand glove has failed again, it's always the left hand

I’ve tested the newest Gerbing and Keis and they offer no heat while riding. The Gerbing have a over sized thumb the only brand I’ve found to be like this. A thick winter glove is better than either. The RST on the other hand are warm without turning them on and when they are on even at lowest setting it’s heat you can feel unlike the Gerbing or Keis. A shame because they are nice gloves.

Might check the RST Gloves out... Thank you. Found the heated element in the Gerbing pointless (as you said). Making "heated" gloves that aren't warm?????

I think they've 'softened them off' so to speak over the years. Really nice gloves, I'll plug them in for a trip no doubt, batteries don't cut it on anything over 2 hours riding.

Hi I’ve just had my second pair of xxxl the first pair arrived and a phone call and 1 day later my xxxl gloves were back in the post heading back to the shop I purchased them from , 3 weeks later and numerous calls to them I have my second pair and apparently they say go for the next size up which I have to xxxl they should be a roomy fit, the Gerbing sizing chart says the measurements of my hands I need a large, if xxxl are a snug fit with no room I’d hate to have purchased a pair of large, can I ask you please inside your gloves the we white label sizing on my gloves say xxxl /10.5 now if you type in on google Gerbing glove sizing it says xxxl should be 11-11.5, mind says xxxl/10.5

Hey broskie, big fan of the channel here. I’ll have to watch this again if I am interested for the gloves...it begun so but then I noticed the logo on the wall behind you and then your earring. It got me thinking because I saw a Poirot film once where he explained to Hastings that when one looks into the mirror and raises his right hand, his idol in the mirror raises his left arm. So I applied the same logic here but it seems that the camera does not work quite like a mirror because for the earring to be on your right ear it means that you inverted the logo behind you. So either the earring is on your left ear or, more consistent with you mate, you have inverted your logo so as to fuck up with our heads. This might sound strange but I am curious as to how a camera works...primitive thinking...I know....yabadabadu
@RarefiedRoad
@RarefiedRoad 4 года назад
Interesting train of thought. But no, the logo is the right way round to the best of my knowledge and the earing (which is now distracting me too) is in my left ear.
