One of the most original (and still relatively unknown) radical and unique bands who have become better respected due to others who now cite them as an influence. Amon Duul 2 took improvising to a new level with one of the least hyped lead vocalists and some of the grungiest proto grunge riffs (Soap Shop Rock/Chewinggum Telegram/Wolf City) . Thank you to the Duul 2 crew for being a major part of my musical education.
I listen to all sorts of music. I listen to different types of music. I like different types/genres of music. Amon Düül II will always be my favourite. There are people who have heard of Düül and hate them. There are people who hear them for the first time and hate them. I actually understand this. I want to hear the track "Phallus Dei" as I die. They just do it for me.
Great, epic, legendary band...AD2 forever!!! Old beautiful memories...Yeti, Phallus Dei, Made in Germany, Carnival in Babylon, Wolf city, Lemmings.......and much others, all fantastic works!!! Always loved this phenomenal band!!! Tks. Enzo57Italy
I guess after doing a one and a half hour feature special on Amon Duul II and have played numberous songs (around 20) on our Hawaii radio station, I might even qualify as a 'groupie'. I scoured wherever I could for information on the band (pre-internet) serving up my own interpretations of their music where I could not find any reference. I always felt like their music was incredible with their unique combination and the lyrics were a German metaphor to that of early Floyd/Syd Barrett. I would love to have seen footage of when they were in the commune together. I also have an extreme affection for "Carnival in Babylon" and "Wolf City" and love the music and lyrics on both those albums psychedelically speaking.
Ultra-wichtiges Interview!!! Gibt ja so gut wie nichts derartiges im Netz! Bitter nötig!! - Ich glaube, ich hab noch nie Falk "normal" reden gehört! :-D Und schön auch den späten Peter zu sehen! Danke fürs Einstellen!
Intro "All The Years Round" taken from the album Carnival In Babylon (1972). OMG! 50 years ago now when I bought this album. This interview was recorded Sept 1st, 1995. 26:00
It was so great to hear these people tell the story. But so painful, horrific, ultra-exasperating to suffer the horrific destruction of the footage. Why did you destroy it? It is a total disgrace. ADII are truly one of the greatest bands of all time, how could you do this? It wasn't enough to destroy Popol Vuh's music on 'Future Sound Experience'? What the fuck is wrong with you? Do you hate these people or what drives you to destroy their words and music?
I wish Amon Dull would come to the Northen part of the Bay area .as far as I know theyve never even played S.F. let alone Santa Rosa. ca .... .Correct me if im wrong ..Not much space rock or prog out here?..On occasion we get ian anderson ,king crimson,Hawkwind not much else ( Hawkwind & amon Dull Tour now that would be A Double Billl!)
