suuzq35 It really is. She’s trying too hard to belt it out. There’s no nuance there at all. And she has all those dopey expressions on her face. She;s like the winner of some middle school talent show.
my mom is very good friends with may pang (john lennon's ex-girlfriend) they used to hang out together back in the 60's before may became john lennon's secretary. i went to may pang's house on labor day 2013 and i met geri. she was such a sweetheart!
Well...not exactly. Barry Williams has had a long and successful career, recording several albums and touring with a number of Broadway musicals...even if he never achieved the stature that he had playing Greg Brady from 1969-1974 Maureen McCormick had quite a lovely voice as well; her only solo album was a country album that was widely panned by critics...BUT her vocals weren't too bad. She also played Rizzo in Grease on Broadway, and acquitted herself admirably on "There Are Worse Things I Could Do"...a LOT better than Rosie O'Donnell, that's for sure....😒

This brings back memories. Geri was a very good, but underrated singer. Thanks for posting this! (It's also interesting how history has a way of repeating itself. When my son was disappointed that Molly Ephraim was replaced by Molly McCook as Mandy Baxter on "Last Man Standing," I told him of my own experience with Jan Brady when Eve Plumb was replaced by Geri Reischl . . . .)
She has perfect pitch, which I like a lot, it's a pet peeve of mine with singers nowadays.I get what people are saying about the vibrato, but that wasn't uncommon back then, people respected the songwriter's melody and didn't take liberties with it. She sang in a very similar style to Florence, broadway musical type singing. The Ed Sullivan show, Donny and Marie, the Mandrell sisters, you would see this type of singing on those shows.What sucks is that she has a bunch of us cousins in Wisconsin, and I don't think any of us even knew there was a Reischl on television, before the show was cancelled, or we'd have been watching every week. I was born in 1967, so I'm old enough to remember this, but I don't, and the plug got pulled pretty fast on this show, probably due to Robert Reed problems and poor ratings. And of course she's gorgeous, all the female Reischls are, it reminds me that God has a peculiar sense of humor.
This show desperatley needed her, becasuse her and Florence are the only ones who could REALLY sing. Barry and Maureen could carry a tune, but they were high school talent show level singers. And then you had the issue with them always trying to perform 70's pop music, and Florence's voice not being suited for such material. Shirley Jones had the same problem, although "The Whale Song" is gorgeous, and I wish they had Shirley sing more on the Partridge Family. Geri's vibrato is quite pronounced, and somewhat reminiscent of Tanya Tucker.
Although she will always be known as “fake jan” of “the bunch” she has a good voice. I listened to some of her more recent stuff and she re-does this song quite differently and much better. 👍🏼
she was 16-17 yrs old when she stepped up to replace a face that everyone would know wasn't hers --She's far better than any "American Idol" or the like, today!!

Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our TRESPASSES as we forgive those who TRESPASS against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. "in earth" vs "on earth" BIG difference. Idk it's imperative to fill our lamps w the oil of 👑Truth while we still can. 🙏
Vibrato a little much for my tastes, but still she was a good singer. Good strong voice and great pitch. I think people would've been more accepting of her if they knew Eve flat out rejected the role. They probably had some concept she somehow stole this role from Eve, and maybe the producers fired her. No it was all Eve.
I hear that she was originally supposed to play Blair on the Facts of Life but she was a bit older 20 at the time so they went with a younger Lisa Whelchel
I've read that too...I'm a big BB guy (and Facts of Life too...) but can't seem to find any confirmation of it anywhere. She would definitely have been a bit too old for the part, and VERY different. I think Whelchel nailed it.
It's sad to see Fake Jan replacing Marcia. Marcia was always the female lead vocalist and she did a fantastic job at it too. It was probably due to all the drugs Marcia was consuming at the time of the show, I felt really sorry for her. I can't imagine what she was going through. And they all could tell at the time. But I'm proud that she's so open about it to help influence people how bad and life-ruining drugs are. I have nothing against fake Jan, I think her voice is amazing.
Only KID on the show with talent. However, Florence Henderson was extremely talented. I don't recall that they ever had Florence or Robert Reed do much on that show. It was always Greg and Marcia Marcia MARCIA!
This girl is pretty, and can sing. They should've said that Jan was away at school and this was cousin Jenny, or something, instead of trying to pass her off as Jan.
