In Oxygen Not Included you’ll find that scarcities of oxygen, warmth and sustenance are constant threats to your colony's survival. Guide colonists through the perils of subterranean asteroid living and watch as their population grows until they're not simply surviving, but thriving...
Just make sure you don't forget to breathe.
Build Extensive Bases and Discover What it Takes to Survive:
Everything in your space colony is under your control, from excavation and resource allocation right down to plumbing and power systems. Resources will begin depleting with your first breath, however, so be sure to dig fast if you want to live.
It’s Mind Over Matter with Stress Simulations:
Keep the psychological impact of survival at bay with fun leisure activities, great accommodations and even better food for your colony. Duplicants each have different and potentially destructive ways of reacting to stress, so be sure to always keep them happy. Whatever the cost.
Avoid Boiling with Thermodynamics:
Temperature control is a constant concern in space; too cold and you'll freeze, too hot and you'll fry. Keep tabs on ambient environmental temperatures and your colony's heat production to maintain a nice, cozy atmosphere for your colonists.
Enhance Efficiency through Complex Gas and Liquid Simulations:
Create interlocking pipe systems to swiftly deliver fuel and liquid to critical areas of your base. Plan well and be rewarded as your colony transforms into an imperishable, well-oiled machine.
Take Charge with Power Grid Simulations:
Choose from a multitude of power sources including coal, hydrogen, natural gas or just plain old elbow grease. Manage power runoff, circuit overloads and meltdowns to keep your colony running smoothly.
Always Keep Yourself Breathing:
Enter the Oxygen Overlay and watch air moving through your base in real-time. Monitor carbon dioxide accumulation and oversee oxygen generation processes to mold your colony into a veritable deep-space oasis.
Waste Nothing through Extreme Recycling:
Make use of every last resource for a base that truly exemplifies efficiency. Recycle waste into precious fuel, process unbreathable gas into air, or harness the natural bodily processes of wild creatures for food. If you’re clever, you might even be able to run a base off colonist farts.
Explore Diverse, Procedurally Generated New Worlds:
Summon new worlds with a push of a button. Experience tons of untamed space rocks, then suffocate to death in them!
-------------------
Spaced Out DLC:
The Duplicants are back again, and this time they're ready to rebuild their colonies from the mysterious remains of a planet torn asunder!
In Oxygen Not Included: Spaced Out! you'll spearhead space missions to new and undiscovered Planetoids, transport resources between bases, and manage multiple worlds on the fly to build a megacolony that not only survives but hopefully, thrives.
New Multi-World Gameplay
Put your colony management skills to the test by juggling the needs of Duplicants in multiple colonies simultaneously. Switch between planets in real-time and secure rare resources on other worlds to supply your home base.
Expanded Rocketry
Customize new modular rockets to your liking, then explore the expanse of space with the newly overhauled Starmap. Huge expansions to the Research Tree provide new mid-game Rocketry options, giving your Duplicants an edge in the asteroid space-race.
New Critters
Get acquainted with some new fuzzy friends - if you're nice, they might help you out around the colony!

A one way door that the dups can't enter should prevent them from picking up the dirt, while allowing you to change the direction to let them in when you want.

Nathan, I haven't watched your newest video just yet so maybe this has become irrelevant - but what you shold be integrating into your automation request setups is a memory toggle in combination with a buffer and a filter gate, in a similar manner as it is used to automate mechanical doors in a classical magma volcano tamer. You want the rail sensor to permanently send a green signal into the memory toggle for as long as the materials have not backed up. The toggle forwards a short signal but only once over a period of time, which is defined by the travel time your materials need to reach the farm, the memory toggle deactivates, if they do not, a new short signal is sent. This way you can percisely adjust for each farm how much material per request is loaded on the rails, and the intervals between requests depending on how fast materials are consumed

Love the series as aver. I think a much simpler automation for the item request/send system could be achieved with a memory toggle as a rising edge detector. To start with everything is red. The remote station needs an item so sends a green signal (no timer is required - it can just stay green) turning the memory toggle green. The storage sends a packet of items and flips the toggle back to red. Note that now because it's a memory toggle it won't go green again until the signal from the remote side goes red and then turns back to green (this is the rising edge). The remote side receives a packet and turns red. If it still doesn't have enough it sends green again and the storage will send another packet etc.

lol, dupes are always so eager to do the job you don't want them doing, but when gossman's stuck in the wall, suddenly they find everything else needs their attention.

Awesome video! Thanks for figuring out the item automation with the element sensors, I was looking forward to seeing how that would work. Also I love watching you figure stuff out as you go, it helps me learn how it works better than just following a perfect version from the start (it makes the videos more entertaining too)

Next time it might be worth having a power spline on both sides of the planetoid, would make powering stuff easier!

I like to put a wild pokeshell with the water sieve. It will take care of the polluted dirt and give u back some sand. U can eliminate a hole bunch of trails that way, its great.

That automation is pretty clever, but if you find it too non-intuitive, you can achieve a similar affect using a memory toggle and timer sensor. The idea is once every X second, send a quick pulse from timer sensor to reset the memory toggle which clears that signal. That pulse is also fed into a buffer gate, which gets connected to the input from the material senskr by an AND gates to set the value of the memory toggle back to true if materials are needed. Basic premise is that during the timer pulse, you reset memory, and then you have a short buffer after that pulse to then set the memory if you still need new materials. I use this in my industrial sauna so I also have refined metals on hand, same could be applied here if you think it is more intuitive/easier to follow.

I have to admit something that's rough for me, given how long I've been playing with this game, and how many hours I've played, mostly at max speed with brief "oh damn, PAUSE!" and the short "I have to watch this project closely 'normal speed' " I have not had a single colony, to date, that I have advanced to cycle 1,000. I get all this inspiration from a few people such as Nathan. But I don't seem to ever have the follow through, probably because I keep seeing a new "shiny" and get distracted from what I was doing, then I can't remember what I intended to do with the colony. But things like using a door instead of a liquid shutoff is a perfect example of things I would've missed using. I've done liquid shutoff with timer or cycle sensors to restrict the flow but that always leads to a. some water is in a pipe and doesn't get cleaned, requiring extra reservoirs to be sure, or a germ sensor cutoff to loop things back, not to mention the power for all those shutoffs. I hadn't thought about using the open door allowing delivery but not distribution, which opens up several ideas I'm going to have to take to me "test lab" now.

The water sieve is gonna overheat in the cleaning room. Fortunately some simple automation can let it take a break to cool down. Just hook it up to the first liquid resovoir. Whenever the door closes to release its water, it will disable the sieve. The incoming polluted water can cool down the sieve. I also used an and gate and hooked up the second condition to the notifier at the bottom of the p.water tank, in case I start running out of polluted water.

Why don't you just exchange some pipes with radiant pipes and constantly cool down the sieve without automation?
@SoulCrushing
@SoulCrushing 2 года назад
@@Nathans-Sandbox It’s heating up faster than the water is cooling it down. I tried that and added temp shift plates behind it as well. I think chlorine doesn’t transfer the heat very well.

meep at 1:43 wondering what you're doing lol also, i somehow ended up with dirty air in my big tanks too...but only after expanding with the purification room. weirdness is that my levels of water and how much chlorine i packed in originally (while empty) say there shoul dbe no off-gassing at all. even with all 5 door open, that would still result in a pressure of 2400g/tile average, yet i now have 50g of dirty AHHHH i think the dupes actually run the game's engine and they like to play mind games ;) it seems like pairing an element sensor with a conveyor meter, could be much more fine tuned if you math out how much of a given element is needed per # or utilizations possible per cycle for the production contraption where it is being sent. either being installed close enough to the storage, or near the contraption within a Known buffer amount would prevent bottlenecks or gridlock, no? i havent gotten advanced enough for any field trials myself just yet :P

maybe i noticed it wrong but the transit tube connections are meant to be build over walls. that is why you are loosing so much cold from your temp. sleet wheat farm.
