@@tooltalk Use some brains: Since last year, China has been the BIGGEST car manufacturer and exporter in the world, (overtaking Germany and Japan,) and Chinese cars are EV. That means other countries must have been buying and importing Chinese EV for China to become number one. We know America is not buying or importing Chinese EV -- Chinese EV is banned in the US and Canada. Europe is not really buying or importing Chinese EV. BYD sold only about 9,000 EV to EU since last year, while Germany sold 4.5 MILLION cars to China... so who's "overcapacity"? If Germany can't consume that many cars themselves and have to export MILLIONS of cars, then it seems like it's Germany that has been overproduced and "overcapacity". So far Australia certainly has not been buying or importing Chinese EV. So, where do you think China has been selling its EV to have become the world's number-one biggest car exporters? Some other countries had to have been buying and importing Chinese EV for China to become the number-one car exporter in the world, right? Since it's not America, Canada, EU or Australia -- i.e., the "developed world" that have been buying Chinese EV, then logically the buyers and customers must have been "OUTSIDE the developed world". THINK.

@@ktchong5800 oh no, another low-IQ angry panda. Firstly, Russia is the largest importer of China's auto exports, mostly ICEs. Second, the German gov't doesn't subsidize "overcapacity." China does. @PhiloSurfer

Simple when it is the west, it is free market. When it is China, it is over-capacity. When Boeing was the virtual monopoly and selling commercial planes to the whole world - no over capacity. When the duopoly Boeing and Airbus cornered the world market - again no over capacity. When European and US ICE cars flooded the world market - no over capacity. But when Chinese EV has a small fraction of the EU market and almost zero in the US - suddenly there is over capacity.

This is covered under REGULATION (EU) 2022/2560 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 14 December 2022 on foreign subsidies distorting the internal market: ... Foreign subsidies in markets characterised by overcapacity or leading to overcapacity by sustaining uneconomic assets or by encouraging investment in capacity expansions that would otherwise not have been built are likely to cause distortions. A foreign subsidy to a beneficiary that shows a low degree of activity in the internal market, measured for instance in terms of turnover achieved in the Union, is less likely to cause distortions than a foreign subsidy to a beneficiary that has a more significant level of activity in the internal market. ..

If the world wants a multi-polar world order ie. all countries are treated as EQUAL and with respect and is allowed to do trading with any country (be it large or small country) then these countries should SUPPORT China EVs. Otherwise the west will continue with their hegemonic world order that is, only they choose who to trade with and spam nations they felt it is a threat to them with sanctions. Supporting China EVs also address the climate change problem as the west think that their own interest is more important then the climate global warming problem.
