After testing my Yamaha Tenere 1VJ from 1987 with my luggage strapped on it, it turned out that the weight of my luggage pushed against the plastics, causing it to melt to the exhaust.. I need reinforcements! Luckily, Hannes (Moritz' son) and Robert are incredibly talented (their company is called Herbst Freitag) and they designed and manufactured something special for my bike..
Looking for a headlight protector the guys from Herbst Freitag made for me? Find them here:

DAMN! You have stolen my comment! The only obstacle for Yamaha, or another manufacturer, would be the carburetor. An exemption to emissions regulations might be possible.......I ride a KLR 650 to avoid the damn computer......My carb has no secrets..... Not everything has to climb trees and chase squirrels at 200 MPH to be marketable!

I mean... or you could buy the T700 and make some minor upgrades and be worlds better than this bike. pouring a ton of effort into an old bike is lovely and all. but the flip side to that coin is. it melted on basic test run. begs the question how the bike will hold up on a world adventure.

I had an old XT 600 which I rebuilt everything completely. Very reliable and easy to service. I highly recommend Race Tech Emulators for the forks. The Emulators are a huge improvement that made the ancient forks competitive with modern forks. This will help your confidence in rough terrain.

Your so blessed Noraly, the bike looks amazing (I’ve been riding bikes for 60 years, still do) The modifications have put this on another planet, thanks to Moritz and the crew, Alaska and the Himalayan served you well but this is in completely different league, God speed and keep you safe. 😊👍

Hi Noraly, I have followed your channel for a couple of years now and when I heard about your idea of changing to a Teneré from the eighties i immediately thought it was a great idea. I´ve got an big camparvan and i had a few months ago the same idea but with an Yamaha XT500. Low height and lightwheight so it fits in mi Van. I am delighted that everything went well with you and I hope to continue enjoying your trips. Thank you so much. 😘😘

I love your bike and how you customized it to meet your needs. I have a soft spot for 1970s-80s Yamaha bikes - my first bike was a '70s Yamaha Enduro - 125cc's that I restored with my dad (rebuilt carburetor, fixed damaged gas tank & painted bike, and replaced forks) in the 1980s. I rode it to school when I was 17 - light weight and fun to ride.

It looks like you got yourself a masterpiece. I am sure Moritz will be watching your next adventure with pride. Excellent work done by the team. I simply love that almost everything is the good old tried and tested mechanical technology for a change. Bikes these days has evolved so much to a point it’s we don’t get to marvel on human skills anymore. Everything is so electronically managed that only robots can fix them when there are any problems. With carburetor system, you can even do your own tuning when needed on the go. Fantastic!!! 👏👏👏

Watching these new episodes of your show have made me very nostalgic, I am 58 years old and have owned Yamahas throughout my life. I started with an IT 175, then the IT 200, an IT 495 and finally the YZ 490, (Which was an absolute beast!). I think I am really going to enjoy watching your future episodes featuring "Frankie". I wish you safe travels and good fortune with your awesome new bike!
