German was a killer, he had the Mexican boxer ballz. He was America's only serious hope for an elite world contendor in distance since Prefontaine. Poor kid was never healthy, I remember even in highschool he was always injured, one time he randomly showed up at a meet coming off months injured and ran a sub 9 minute two mile. It was like watching a god. He didn't even need to train, just pure gifts. He was Ingebrigsten before there was a Ingebrigsten.

Distance running sorely needs another Fernandez. It's a shame injury precluded German from winning gold medals and besting world records in the sport. I'm confident this would have been on the itinerary had he been able to consistently train for longer periods of time. Still, he will always be my favorite runner. I can think of no other competitor alive who holds a candle to him in respect to the form and tempo inherent in his racing. The ultimate phenom, he was.

Alex Goldberg only ran once cross country not track but I never knew human could run that fast 1 minute a head of everyone some tried to follow him in the start but I don’t think ppl understand how fast he was for a kid also

Our family is ready to pack to England as well just to see German make history!! We are huge fans of him since we saw him running for the first time last year at the State finals in Cerritos, CA. He is such a humble , down-to earth, fine person...We are so proud he is representing the USA Latino community in such a formidable manner. Congratulations German! way to go!.this is just the beginning. Animo y Chiquitibum a la bim bom ba!!! Si se puede!!

@@kiraofthesky5561 yes unfortunate but it happens so frequently. I remember a couple guys back in my day who were among the fastest runners in the state as freshmen and sophomores go down with injuries and never make it back. Except in German's case we don't get to see the runners who were right on the cusp.

MACNAMARA WAS DETERMING POINTS FOR THE NCAA TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP. If he had scored points Oregon could've possibly won the meet. He was unbelievably critical to the entire meet, that's why they were focusing on him.

i actually thought the woman broadcaster did an excellent job. if you watch her throughout the 2 hour-long broadcast, she really understands the dynamics of a race. that aside, earlier in the season german ran a 3:55.02 in the indoor mile, which means his outdoor mile should be slightly faster than that. now if his outdoor 3:39 1500 converts to, at best, a 3:55 or 3:56 mile...what do you think he could have pulled off in the 1500 given a faster field?

Sunglasses = a form of protective eyewear designed primarily to prevent bright sunlight and high-energy visible light from damaging or discomforting the eyes. They can sometimes also function as a visual aid, as variously termed spectacles or glasses exist, featuring lenses that are colored, polarised or darkened.

I really hate how the announcers keep talking about Oregon. The announcers themselves were annoying to listen to. Just focus on the race, don't even pan the camera back to the 2nd half of the pack, especially if it is one person and they are in last place.

so yeah i really do think that they over commentate on oregon...its kinda annoying, even IF oregon only need those points, but seriously it was sooo annoying, more than half the race is about the last place person rather than German Fernandez. they really need to treat german more professionally. and of course german can definitely run faster than 3:42. his mile (1609.344m) split was faster than 3:39 indoors.. if you listen to the womens comments, theyre very annoying..
