bro. as a german, i must say it would take a LOT to break down the metaphors in english he is coming up in this song. example- 8:45 , the hobbit leg line: in german the word "beharrt" (tanslated : "to insist") sounds like "behaart" (translated: "hairy"), fine difference in the meaning, but sounds equal. the whole song is made out of that kinda stuff. its insane

Honestly, idk why RU-vid recommended your channel because I am not a fan of reaction content but I watched the other Vid because I saw "Kollegah" and now I am here. And I liked your opinion, honestly. But an honest opinion/history lesson about Kollegah: while his style and his flow is absolute fire, his lyrics piss me the fuck off these days. I listened to him between 2008 and 2015 and his punchlines were always awesome. He was with Selfmade Records back then and I loved that time. These balkan beats they made... just great. I was so mad when the concert ended in the middle of the first act, Montana Max and Shiml, because some gang tards pulled Montana Max off the stage. I honestly thought this was the worst day of my life back then. But I was only 18 as well. From that tour in 2009 I felt like everything is going downhill. Selfmade, eventually, split up I think in 2015. And Kollegah did his own thing. Very successful so! He always rapped about a tough time on the streets. Dealing drugs and being chased by the cops. He always was and still is a great rapper but his lyrics evolved from being that underground drug dealer who struggled to pay his bills to 'the boss', which was his Selfmade time and after that, after he started using Autotune excessivly in his ablum Bossaura (which had still some great songs in it), I started to drift away from him. He always was this pretty interlectual "street" rapper and after all this, when fame came, he went to an arrogant dick who throws money in the river. I mean this would actually be the next step after being "the boss" but still. He went in a direction I did not like and appreciate as rap music. But he adapted to German rap style in general. So I think he went the right way. Not only because of money. If he kept his style, he would have failed... So did his ex-friends, Like favorite. The others went the pop way, which is not mine as well. Maybe I am just getting too old. Anyway. I would like to see more of your reactions to rap and German rap. Nice work!

I said it since day first, Kolle (german short from his Fans for Kollegah) is the best german rapper regarding lyrics and wordplay. There is one rapper out there, Eminem, wich uses the same crazy wordplay (sry i dont know all the great black artists out there, i just grew up with Em and i could feel his lyrics when i was younger and in a diffrent place). Double or even triple meanings, depending on if you use the words that are written in the text or use the words you hear (many words in german he uses can sound like diffrent words when u pronouce them a little bit diffreent and therefore a totaly new meaning comes out of that specific phrase and Kollegah does that all the time). I used eminem for learning and understanding english and Kollegah for understanding and learning german (even as a native speaker). He sometimes raps about how his work (lyrics) is used in higher school/ university classes for german literature analysis and he is not joking with that, it is modern art. And the fact that you can feel his delivery even if u dont understand a word points out his class he has achieved over the years. He has also diffrent styles, you can see that troughout his work. One thing to the shoot where he, as you put it, wasted his money (where he throws it away). This has a very specific meaning, he rapps in german that "his creator should be pardon him since striving for material things is idol worship", and when he says idol worship you see this short shoot where he, like you put it, wasted his money. It just was put in to indicate that even he has all that money and uses it, deep down he knows its against what he believes in and that little act of throwing away the money should underline that. i just wanted to clarifiy that since it sounded to me that you thought he threw it away for fun. Kollegah is known for his pictures and shoots he uses to underline his lyrics and meaning, even if he raps one thing, the meaning of the shoot reagrding to his lyric is important, it could underline his lyric oder give it a whole new meaning. This dude is worth the struggle to learn german. keep up the great work, greetings from germany. Edit: the pronounciation of his name, where you thought it was wrong, was actually right. Its Ko-lle-gah (Ko (like Coal, the co) - lle (like leg without the g and a longer l (since its used double) - gah (like garfunkel, the ga part wich a light h behind that). hope that helps, peace.

In my opinion two of the best german rappers that are still attached to the roots of Hip Hop are Haze (listen to Haze - Für immer) and Cashmo (listen to Cashmo - M.O.B) but they don't get as much recognition as they deserve
