Welcome to BabyMetal's metalverse.🦊🤘 First of all happy birthday 🥳🎉🎈 You're really a BM fan coming only to react to this song after your last reaction to DA - Shingeki. So far many others reactors are preferring DA - Shingeki over this new single but trust me, once you know the probably hidden meaning behind this song you'll hear this in a different way and will grown on you. After almost a month of released their new single "Divine Attack - Shingeki" marking the long time waited return, they just released another great new single "Monochrome" and is a song that expresses a fleeting hope during Ragnarok, which means "doomsday" in Norse mythology, that the starry skies will be wrapped in rainbow colors, all of this under the question which color were the monochrome fireworks lighting up in the night sky, from a children's eyes. They're making us sure that this song belongs to another world out of 10 in total of their metalverse. This time the theme runs around the Norse mythology and the Ragnarök event, we can also see an artwork which apparently show "Yggdrasil", the Norse tree of life, there's a lot more interesting things related to this tree but in general is representing the life and rebirth of the humankind after a moment of death and chaos, BM fans know that this a recurrent theme on BM lore and is always exciting. After hearing the lyrics a little bit and watching the umbrellas falling theme It could also be related to an historical sad moment we all know happened in Hiroshima which is also SuMetal birthplace. I also noticed since a very long time ago they were using the _"Myth"_ title before every different title itself, so that could mean another hint over the concept of this album using different mythologies and their stories represented in each one of their songs, i heard another snippets sets and I can totally see that. In this case they're going with the Norse mythology which is very popular nowadays thanks to videogames like God Of War Ragnarok recently released, or even Attack On Titan (Shingeki No Kyojin) anime series, without giving so much details, which is also a theme many BM fans are relating to the world of "Divine Attack - Shingeki", their first single released. The sound on this song reminds a little bit of good old hard rock ballad mixed with a touch of heavy metal and some complex drums always in contrast with beautiful SuMetal's vocals, i can also see the hands of Yuyoyuppe on this, he's the songwriter/composer/arranger behind songs like Megitsune, Rondo Of Nightmare, Karate and Kagerou. After watching the credits now there's no doubt is him behind this song, and he knows his business and totally rocks. I like how at the end the lyrics said "Just Smile" and then the colors are back.🙂🌈 Hope you have a great day full of gifts besides this new BM single. Kitsune up and see you next time 🦊🤘🔥 Here's the official lyrics translated: *Monochrome* Lyrics : MK-METAL Music & Arrangement : YUPPEMETAL The sky decorated in a spectrum of dreams I wanted to look at it forever Even the bright star that was shining yesterday _I don't know what to say._ _I don't know what to say._ is fading away That monochrome firework what color can we imagine the night sky? Being drenched by the rain and freezing in the night I wanted to be by your side even just for a little while The warmth I want to feel until tomorrow _You don’t have to say it._ _You don’t have to say it._ will vanish eventually That monochrome firework we will imagine the night sky in rainbow colors During the dusk of Ragnarok, what are we to see No matter how long the night the morning will arrive That monochrome firework we will illuminate the world in rainbow colors Just smile :)

excellent content dude, word in the Metalverse is that, color tree is very similar to the tree that survived the Hiroshima 1945 and Su-Metal is from Hiroshima.

I do like this new song on first listen which wasn't the case with a lot of their tracks so it will be interesting to see how "Monochrome" will fare in a few weeks/months time. I totally can understand your point for "Divine Attack", it' starting to wear off its initial fascination after several dozen listens for me as well (but I still like it very much). I also hope that the album will have more sonic variation - the term "concept album" might be a hint that it will be less "all over the place"/less ecclectic than we're used to by their earlier stuff. Only time will tell I guess. 🙂

Great reaction, thanks! This one is growing on me more and more as I listen to it again and again. "Divine Attack" is more appealing to me musically but I believe this one has a deeper meaning hidden on the lyrics. I'm not comfortable exposing my theory yet but I believe the visuals are telling us something really important. Anyway, very beautiful song with really interesting instrumental details and beautifully sad vocals by Su. Nonetheless, I'm taking away the positivity of the last lines: "We will illuminate the world in rainbow colors. Just smile." Until next time!

They are telling the story of the ten worlds they visited in the Metalverse that is where they have been since they departed from the staircase, at least that is how I am reading it, but there is most definitely a story.

The distorted explosion happens as the nuke goes off in the video (monochrome firework, turns everything black and grey). I thought my equalizer was clipping the very first time I heard it, but quickly realized it goes with the theme of the song and video. It adds quite a dramatic effect, I actually like it.

I see you use HiFiMAN Sundara, those have planar drivers and that *might* be why the distorted effect is a bit jarring. I noticed the effect is more pronounced on my planar Shuoer S12 than with the ordinary dynamic drivers in my Sennheiser headphones.

@@schneider1112 I have the Hifiman Sundara V2, I get the same distortion on them but also all my 5 other headphones... All different brands but standard drivers on them, equally as bad just less clear. So it's just part of the song unfortunately. It's not too jaring and I can kinda see why they've done it, but I think it needs fixing as it's not a pleasant sound ... Unless it's just the RU-vid version that suffers ?

I think it's a dark and sad tone too. Also, the kanji and Japanese in the video are hard to read, lol. But what does 'Ragnarok' mean? I will just reserch it. The theme is a bomb and a black rain? But I am not sure, but got into it! I prefer it to Devine Attack

Ragnarok is the Norse myth of the end of the world. The tree appears to be Yggdrasil. The imagery depicts the end of the world with the atmosphere being blown away, the umbrellas and rain representing the black rain, and then there's the destroyed landscape. The black rain imagery gives a very distinct meaning to the lyric that talks about being drenched in the rain.

@minamihideki7123 Год назад
@@allegorical Thank you for the infomation. I also understood on the surface that the primary theme of this song is Norse mythology. By the way, the 'black rain' I mentioned, is the rain of terror, the rain of death, that falls after an atomic bomb. Well, it still takes some kind of like courage to make the atomic bombings a theme. Especially in Japan. However, I know that Su- is from Hiroshima and that she had mentioned the bomb at her days of Sakura Gakuin. But I probably won't like songs that just are angry and against the atomic bombs like other normal metal. And now, I feel that we have no need to think of this song as being about the atomic bomb forcedly. However I believe we can have any numbers of interpretations for the song.. It is good we can just enjoy it

@@minamihideki7123 There's lots of little details throughout the video. You can see the raindrops hitting the puddle and they look like bombs with the smoke, and you can see the ash in the sky when the firework hits. The song itself is all about longing about what once was and the suffering of the situation. The song heavily hints to the world being in nuclear winter as well.
