ABOUT ME: Hallo, Servus, and welcome to my channel! My name is Felicia (Feli), I'm 26, and I'm a German living in the USA! I was born and raised in Munich, Germany but have been living in Cincinnati, Ohio off and on since 2016. I first came here for an exchange semester during my undergrad at LMU Munich, then I returned for an internship, and then I got my master's degree in Cincinnati. I was lucky enough to win the Green Card lottery and have been a permanent resident since 2019! In my videos, I talk about cultural differences between America and Germany, things I like and dislike about living here, and other experiences that I have made during my time in the States. Let me know what YOU would like to hear about in the comments below. DANKE :)

CORRECTIONS: Churches are actually exempt from paying taxes in Germany and the Neo-Nazi party is called NPD of course, and not NDP like I said in the video. I didn't notice I had the letters switched because I never use this word in English but thank you guys for pointing it out! Also, the US census is not voluntary which I'm aware of. This was phrased poorly. What I meant was that a lot of people don't get counted in the end and people submit their own information regarding name, date of birth, ethnic identity etc. which means they could submit wrong information too. I'm always open for corrections and thankful for any kind of feedback! :)

He said Nazis are still around, that "some Germans are still Nazis". As she said, there are Nazis all over. It's a fact. You won't find slave owners in the US (there's some human trafficking just like any other country, but these people aren't out in the street making themselves known) so... your comparison is very much twisting the truth and twisting what was said.

Briggs nr. 10: Crime/Murders rose when all those immigrants entered Germany (implying they are responsible). Briggs nr. 1: Nazis attacked immigrants in 2015, some with molotov cocktails - so... could it be that the risen crime rate in 2015 also includes crimes against immigrants? @JulieT..
@JulieT.. 4 года назад
Well, most places it is a short time that it is uncomfortable but you won't die from this. Air conditioning is rare because it is not really necessary. His points were lame as hell on reasons why you should not live in Germany. Says an american who has probably never been outside his own village. If he wants to pick at negative things I guarantee america would outweigh Germany by a landslide. He failed to mention the great quality of life, the health care system, the entertainment, the education system. Those are things to consider when you want to live somewhere along with cost of living etc not if the Oktoberfest is awesome or if you have to shop on another day other than sunday or that it might be too cold one day and you might have to look at some graffiti on your way down the street which by the way most is art.

@@kaldo_kaldo When its so hot, we have closed windows during the day (or partly open) and open completly during the night. The big difference is that our buildings (thick brick walls) got much more thermal capacity than typical US wooden house so it stays cool even during the day. Nowadays when wooden houses are more and more common, the AC is becoming a thing. Of course in the office buildings made out of steel/concrere and glass, the AC is a must and is actually everywhere. (Writing from Czechia, almost the same climate as Bavaria in south Germany)
@tiedeman39
@tiedeman39 4 года назад
How are windows going to help when it's 33°C outside? Lmao
@JackyCola92
@JackyCola92 4 года назад
@@tiedeman39 it's called cooling draught. It actually helps a lot. But also generally all our houses are way better insulated than the average house in America. It's way over 25/28°C outside for the last weeks and my house has had a stable temperature of 19/21° and it's only going to go slightly up. Well, except for the attic, but noone lives there so it's not a problem. Also what helps a lot is that almost every house has a basement. The basement is always very cool, a) because it is built into the ground so it is cooled from the surrounding soil and b) because warm air always flows to the top. So this generates a cooling draught when the air can go outside at the top. The first floor is usually very cool as well thanks to the basement and only the upper floors are hotter, but if you live in a house the effect from the cooling draught is usually more than enough to get a comfortable temperature throughout the house.

Henry Staggs It’s actually not that way. You pay the maximum tax of 45% only if you make over 250000€ annually and also for the amount that is over 250000. The rest of your tax is calculated with individual tax bracket, so you always pay way less than 45% on most of your income, at least if you’re not making like 1000000 a year. We have a lot of hate groups that identify with Nazi's as well. Our weather? Of course, that depends on where you live. Upstate New York easily gets down to -20 and -30 degrees Fahrenheit; Arizona and New Mexico can get to 110-114 degrees Fahrenheit! On the East Coast, taxes aren't so bad; but if you go all the Way to the West Coast (California and Washington) taxes are the highest! Winters in Germany sound mild compared to Québec, Canada winters. Our winters here in Québec are very cold. In the minus' always and often in the minus 20. Snow covers the ground usually by November and only starts to leave in March. We often have huge snowstorms in March and sometimes in April, but they soon melt away. It's the storms with the enormous snowflakes and they are so beautiful. They are our last storms before spring comes.

Hi Feli! Your english and german are very good, bi-lingual is awesome! I lived in Germany, well West Germany from May 1985 till May 1987. I was assigned to Ramstein Air Base near Kaiserslautern. The entire time I was there with my Air-Force friends we never had a negative encounter with a German resident. When we went off base to Landstuhl and Kaiserslautern the shop owners helped us buying items like clothes, hobby items, car parts etc. One week-end we drove about 60 kilometers to a Miami Beach styled discoteque. On the way home my VW beetle (Kafer) ran out of gas (benzine). A car full of teenagers helped us with some gasoline to get back to Ramstein. The German law says you have to help stranded motorists, but it's not like they were ordered too. They gladly helped us and were very kind to us, you don't forget stuff like that. A few months later we helped out a German that had crashed his car into highway intersection "island" His engine was still running, he was very drunk, and had minor injuries. We turned off the engine and rendered first aid to his cuts. We went to the nearest house (haus) to call for the ambulance (krankenhausauto? I think). The Polizei did arrive though and gave him a ticket or fine. We found a small farming village; Hermesberg, one week-end just driving around the country side. They had a small discoteque there called Paradies. We would go there almost every week-end. The townspeople adopted us after awhile and invited us to visit their homes during Fasching and Oktoberfest. My friends and I will be going back to Germany mid June 2024 for 18 days! As far as that other youtuber his facts and stats are misleading.

As a European I can confirm, I hate air-conditioning, All it has ever done for me Is give me a cold because of the extreme temperature differences I had to be in. The thing with this is, If it's too hot where you are working, You picked the wrong spot to work. Sure not everything is mobile, But you don't have to sit at your desk to read a file, Just take it into the break room, Or outside if that doesn't work for you. In the summer it's too hot and in the winter it's too cold, Yet I used my heater for a whopping 7 days in the last year And I don't own any form of cooling system. Granted in the winter I spend most of my time in the workspace, Where an active PC might heat things up a bit, But surely the USA houses have those too.

I have spent more than a year in Germany in total since my first trip in 1967 with the USAF. I have been visiting about 2 weeks every year since 2005. Sundays as "quiet days" is something I embrace. It was like that here in New York, when I was younger. I have lived for 78 years and still try to not do any loud work on Sundays to respect everyone's peace. 2015 in Kaiserslautern it was over 100F and while visiting my son, I purchased a portable A/C for his home since it was so unbearable. Just returned from Oktoberfest in Muenchen for about the 12th time. Cannot wait to return. The rail and bus system is phenomenal. Prices are comparable to NY state. Weather was in the mid to upper 70s from Amsterdam south to Paris and about mid 60s in Muenchen this Sept 19-29. I've visited in December for the Christmas Markets and there was zero snow and warmer than NY state at the time. The weather in Germany is primarily a maritime climate in the northern and central portions , with colder, drier air in the Alps and Bavaria. In the Eifel (near Luxembourg) region, the winters were damp and dreary, and rarely below, say 25 F. Lots of fog meant we ran very high numbers of radar controlled approaches into the air base. So, no question it is much more mild than the upper Midwest where I'm from. I only experienced one good thunderstorm in 3 years, which, oddly, I had missed. Temps rarely exceeded 80F in the summer.

Just to take it a little further (to the sentence Anon was correcting), "men" is the plural of "man." Most plural possessives in English are formed with an "s" suffix followed by an apostrophe (as in, "his sons' hats were left on the floor" = the hats belonging to his (multiple) sons were left on the floor) but in the case of irregular plurals like "man/men", the plural possessive is formed the same way as the singular possessive, so, "men's" (as in, "he went to a men's store to buy a suit" = he went to a store for men to buy a suit) My qualifications: native American English speaker with a BA in English language & literature, a minor in Latin, an MA in history, and an MLS in library science. There are also some places that are used to 0 F actual temps and the wind chills are easily -20 or -30 F. German winters sound more like our spring or autumn.
