German half tracks are the most beautiful pieces of engineering ..the drive sprockets have multiple wheels on the circumference to ensure the track moves freely. Every link in the track comprises of a dozen components as opposed to a single link and pin tank track. All this was aimed at translating horse power to speed and endurance. They were expensive and complicated to manufacture seeing production cease 1942-43 in favour of simpler utility vehicles. Any that are left in existence should be jealously guarded as they represent what the soldiers wanted...a robust, reliable iconic vehicle that was only unpopular with wartime mechanics because of shortage of spare parts as the war progressed.
