Hi, Axel. I'm currently binging on your videos and I would like to thank you for all the contents so far. I have another question: Can you elaborate what does the "salary cap" in this context mean? For example, what will happen to the health insurance contribution if the gross salary is less than the cap? And how about the public pension contribution if the gross more than the cap?
@PerFinEx
@PerFinEx 3 года назад
Hi Ric, thank you so much. Hopefully our videos help you improve your financial future. Salary cap means that gross salary up to the cap is subject to x (health insurance, public pension, etc). Example: Salary cap for public pension is 85.200€ in 2021. Meaning up to 85.200€ you have to pay 18,6% in public pension. Any gross salary from 85.201€ upwards is free of public pension.

@@PerFinEx Thanks again! By the way, is it possible to get refunded from (some) social security contributions if I leave Germany? I tried looking through your videos but I didn't see anything about this. Please tell me if you already did and what is the title of the video.

So far there is no video about that. It‘s on the list tho. Especially your options with the public pension when leaving Germany.

I have a deduction with the name "ZV-Uml. Regelentg." what is this? Is it mandatory to pay it? If not can I opt not to pay?

Tough to say just from these abbreviated words. Might be some form of company pension. Your HR department can help you with what it is & if you can stop paying it. 👍

When you say you quit the social security system, does it mean the 5 pillars?
@PerFinEx
@PerFinEx 3 года назад
Exactly. - Health Insurance was replaced with a private version - Public pension was replaced with a private version - Unemployment insurance was quit completely - Logn-term care insurance was replaced with a private version - Accidient insurance was quit completely

@@PerFinEx But you do this as a freelancer, right? Or everybody can do it? Or just people earning 60k (because of the health insurance)?
@PerFinEx
@PerFinEx 3 года назад
All employees are forced to pay into social security. Employees earning +64.350€ gross next year are free to choose between public or private health insurance (+long-term care insurance).

@@PerFinEx But how were you able to quit accident and unemployment insurance completely? Is this something only self-employed and business owners can do?
@PerFinEx
@PerFinEx 3 года назад
Exactly. Self-employed people can quit social security. They only have to have health insurance (public or private).

In uk it’s free because we not forced to pay health insurance unlike in Germany
@PerFinEx
@PerFinEx 2 года назад
"Free" as the NHS is mainly funded from general taxation supplemented by National Insurance contributions (NICs).

So is Germany but difference is uk taxpayers only pay income tax whereas Germans must pay income tax plus health insurance. I felt Germany really need to reform its tax system it’s so outdated n cruel.

Income tax, Health insurance, Church tax, Public pension, Unemployment insurance, Solidarity tax, Long-term care insurance, and so much more. Here's a video that shows you how much Germans really have to pay: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GpwOlrhmdd0.html

@@PerFinEx haha 😂 church tax, reunification, unemployment insurance, care insurance and higher taxes is something uk don’t have. Yay definately Germany need fix up it’s tax reform I was even more shock that a low income German pays more taxes than low income brit. Brits start paying income tax when they earn 13,000 euros and in Germany 9,000 euros no wonder low intake british citizens they would rather live in Spain which is more affordable. It’s a shame really Germany such lovely country and quality of life is good but the cost of living is so expensive along with higher taxes.
@iggymach
@iggymach 2 года назад
@@tariqbahoussain1442 Well, Germany could as well impose "only" income tax, but in that case it would go up to over 40%, as the distribution would be probably the same behind the scenes. Ultimately representing pretty much the same net salary for you monthly or yearly.
