@@steveperreira5850 Yes, like Stuka crews their pilots thought themselves part of an "Elite" and after a disasterous sortie over Kent in 1940 when a large number were shot down, ever after they just flew in defensive circles when challenged over enemy territory. Stukas after the similarly disasterous unescorted sortie on Portsmouth Harbour when 54 Squadron splashed fifteen Stukas they were not sent over without fighter protection again. 54 Squadron were said to have give "Dover Ack Ack" three of the kills.

You'll read numerous articles and watch other videos in order to fortify the knowledge you have. Still it's 10/10 cuz, limiting the length of that video in just a short duration will take some good skills, and you need to risk some details in order to make your video catchy and easy to understand.😊

While it is unfortunate and sad that millions of people were made to fight, they still fought for the horrible cause of the Nazi party. For example we wouldn't call kamikaze pilots legends after sinking an entire ship just because he was conscripted would we?

Planes with Schräge Musik would always engage at night as British bombers, their primary targets, always do night bombing. British bombers would be their primary targets since they had no ball gunner. US bombers on the other hand, always do bombings when the sun is still up. Even when US bombers do night bombing raids for some reason, I think Schräge Musik pilots were instructed to not engage bombers with ball gunners. If they insist on attacking bombers like B-17s, things would not end well for the German night bomber hunters.

I say unless the gunner was in the ball turret, the initial surprise attack still would've gone smoothly. My guess it would've cut the losses down to 4 or 5, mainly due to the combination of American Flak and the ball gunners deterring them from making a pass or two.

@@ZackaryWilliams77 The gunner was mostly always in the ball turret, except during take off and landing, as even with the ball turret retracted, landing with the gunner still inside was considered to be dangerous.

Keeping a POW in captivity for a year after the war is not 'fair' - not at all. When the war ends, prisoners are meant to be repatriated soon after, in accordance with international law.

It also isn't real, as no one on the Allied side knew who he was. WWII wasn't WWI where pilots were so few that the other side knew who they were. As much as Yarnhub makes good videos, they largely rely on whatever book they read on the topic, regardless of whether those books are fully accurate. The "Spook of St. Trond" was an embellishment made up by German writers who wrote "pulpy" pro-military magazines during the post-war period, which were heavy on sensationalism and light on fact. Unfortunately some of this stuff had great reach (German writer Franz Kurowski for example largely popularized the idea of "Panzer Aces" even though the concept didn't really didn't exist during WWII in the German army), and as a result the "Spook of St. Trond" has made it into mainstream books because authors never bothered to look into it. Peter Hinchliffe in his excellent Biography on Schnaufer goes into the fine details on the topic and shows where these myths came from. Schnaufer was an excellent and skilled pilot, but when you're the best of the best, invariably people tend to mythologize you, and there is a lot about Schnaufer out there that isn't true.

I respect and try to remember the sacrifice of the german soldiers who fought like lions during the second WW2 even while havily outnumbered the fought till the end. Respect and RIP. They gave it all with honor and loyalty till the bitter end.

So pretty much nothing you said in your comment is factually true, and it is probable that you read some lousy history stuff that told you this. The problem is a lot of the history on Schnaufer was written by post-war military "pulp" type magazines that were prevalent in Germany, often very right wing, which prioritized sensationalism over actual facts. The book "Schnaufer: Ace of Diamonds" by Peter Hinchliffe goes into this in a lot of detail and shows where the inaccurate stuff you are mentioning comes from, and why its all nonsense. The whole post-war German pulp type work on WWII is a fascinating topic in itself, but you need to realize there was a lot of money to be made writing sensationalist crap in Germany after WWII and it created a lot of myths that exist to this day. Very simply - the Allies had no idea who Schnaufer was. When they interrogated him after the war they didn't even believe his kill claims because they thought it was ludicrous someone could shoot down so many bombers. RAF Bomber Command itself never really had a solid idea during the war what percentage of their losses was due to fighters, as everything happened in the dark so it wasn't easy to tell what caused aircraft to be shot down. They certainly didn't believe one guy was responsible for so many of their aircraft. There was no nickname for him as the "spook of St. Trond", the German night fighter pilots were pretty much anonymous to RAF crews at the time, they were a faceless boogeyman they rarely ever saw. This wasn't WW1 where pilots had reputations on both sides. And there were no Mosquitoes tasked with shooting him down, nor any plots to lure him out with fake "master of ceremonies", none of that existed. RAF night fighters operated independently and simply shot down whatever German night fighters they detected on radar or radar detecting equipment. The "Master of Ceremonies" (actually called the Master Bomber) didn't lay flares for the whole raid. The Pathfinder force did, and they were dozens of aircraft largely operating interdependently using their electronic instruments to mark the target. They followed a plan, but once on the raid they operated on their own. Some marked the target, others backed up the original marking, it changed over time as different bombing aids came online. The Master Bomber was a later war tactic where one experienced officer coordinated the raid (hence Master of Ceremonies), often ordering pathfinder aircraft waiting as backups to remark accurate markers, or ordering the bombers to avoid bombing on certain markers because they were inaccurate. Sometimes they'd mark the target themselves. While "master of ceremonies" were occasionally shot down, there was no way for the Germans to home in on them. Problem was, the Master Bomber was often flying in a Mosquito which was safer. Schnaufer never shot down a Mosquito in the entire war, all his victims were 4 engine aircraft. Sometimes Master Bombers flew in 4-eingined aircraft, but there is no evidence any of the 4-engined aircraft he shot down had a master bomber. Plus the Master Bomber tended to fly at the front of the bomber stream, but the ME110 that Schnaufer flew was barely faster then the bombers he chased. While he could get into the Bomber stream and cause localized havoc at times, his aircraft didn't have any tools or the speed to actually get to where the Master Bomber tended to be located. Wherever Schnaufer ended up in the bomber stream was simply a matter of luck. Schnaufer was a very skilled and capable night fighter pilot, no doubt about it. But a lot of what you said was post-war sensationalism, not anything that was actually true about him.

Thankfully most normal people don't care to watch Nazi movies because at the end of the day they lost .

The literal translation of "schräge Musik" reveals a another reason behind the name of the gun. "schräg" can mean many things in English for example "skewed ,weird, trippy, oblique" but also "angled, diagonal, angular, tilted". So the term comes from the "weird" Jazz music, but the guns are actually at an angle, so when they fire they also play angled/weird music!
