First I have to say, I love German food. But there are some shocking moments when it comes to food for a Chinese when I first came to Germany. There are many "what?"s and "why?"s and "how can they eat that?" and of course "I'll never eat that!"
But of course, Chinese food for foreigners can definitely also be suprising, shocking and unbelievable. What are your strange food experiences?

French eating snail and also chinese food is often pretty crazy, i was there and ate ant larvae i thought it was rice.

Oh no. Mettbrötchen is soooo so good. Really. If you ever find one in a Bakery or Café you should jump over your Shadow and try one. But on the other hand I can understand if not. There's always food you just can't bring yourself to eat regardless of all the people telling you that it's good. My worst nightmare is the swedish Surströmming. But many Swedes will tell you that it's a delicatesse. 😅

You're missing out. Mettbrötchen is one of the tastiest things ever. I was worried eating raw meat at first - then I tried it and stopped worrying. Life without Mett doesn't make sense anyway. ;)

I spotted one error when mocking the Germans eating raw food: Germans eat with a closed mouth. Anything else, or even making chewing noises, is considered as very uneducated.

I totally get it. Taste and revulsion are mainly aquired and learned. Somtimes curiosity winns, but to me it is often not worth the effort. So I will never experience the delight of maggot cheese from Corsica, Italy, mite covered cheese from somwhere in southern Germany, or fried Tarantula. Why fighting my disgust, when there is a World of unproblematic food out there.
