I had never heard of the Abwehrflammenwerfer 42 until you mentioned it as a static defense for this area, it must have been a terrible weapon. This whole area is another example of the German defenses and I am never ceased to be amazed at the amount of expense and effort for these locations. That complete bunker oven was nice to see as so often they are gone! That gun from WW1 looked in good shape for its age! Thanks for the tour!

that weapon is pretty rare to read about but we have actually found such 5 times out there on our explores. Loved the ovens and loved the explore. Thanks Donald :)

I'm sure there's some around but as part of the surrender the allies conscripted the German soldiers into (among other things) mine sweeping. And yes many died from it unfortunately.

Another great video HH. The Krupp weapon was in good shape considering the time and location. I think that bunker oven was moved there the bolts looked new and it was in the way of the gun port. But it still should be in a museum. Can't wait for the other parts. Stay safe and well out there.

@@WW2HistoryHunterThanks for the response. I'm from Australia; father was Polish; mother British. When you make future videos can you state the country you're in filming; show a map with where you are on it filming & state the direction you're pointing your camera? For viewers not from Europe it'll put your videos in context in terms of the entire battlefield. The music at the beginning of your latest videos; fantastic. Love... it!

Ah, coastal artillery sites. You might recall how much I love coastal artillery sites. Fantastic that there was still a bunker oven in there but I agree, needs to be in a museum where it can be protected and restored. Hate to see it slowly rusting away. Fantastic they still have a gun there at the site! Shame parts of it are rusting though it looks like they're doing their best to maintain it. Will be looking forward to the next parts of this site!

The hills did look very peaceful. Hard to imagine the WW2 historical events that took shape there. Having been a sub base, MG positions, flame throwers, 3 1/2 thousand mines, barrak , FLAK 20 mm anti-aircraft guns, MG Tobruk, etc. The Wartburg 621 bunker was very interesting. A shame the complete bunker oven wasn't put in a war museum. The 15 cm gun maybe wasn't there, but we got to see the SK C/32 naval cannon. Hans and Wilhelm would have had to put n many hours to perfect their skills. Interested in part 2 & part 3. Thank you HH and EE. 💕

When I saw the name Fried Krupp on the canon it reminded me of a story. I used to work with some Elevator engineers from a company named Thysenkrupp in Australia They told me that years ago some colleagues of theirs would be attacked by war veterans when they attended jobs in age care homes and Service men and women’s clubs because of the company name being displayed on their work uniforms. Apparently Thysenkrupp made ammo during the war and the old timers remembered seeing it on the shell casings that killed their friends

If there were any chance of a mine still being there it seems they would put up warning signs. Didn’t you find one of those flame throwers in one of your other videos? That was a huge electrical cable connected to the bottom of the cannon that was there. Did it have motors to adjust the gun with? It was strange to see the bunker oven right in front of the shutter. A soldier could burn their butt shooting out that shutter lol. As always, a nice video.
@WW2HistoryHunter

Well they say it is all clear now and i think it really is. we think the guns could be fired electronically at the same time. Oven is not placed correct in the i think. Thanks Anthony and be safe out there :) Part 2 coming up soon.

So cool to see a bunker open to the public without graffiti all over the walls. But seeing that bunker oven just sitting there, was definitely a surprise. The site's curators must keep a careful eye on that one, and the name "Wartburg" might hold a clue to the original occupants origins, as Wartburg is the name of a castle near Eisenach in Thuringia, Germany. It's nice that they have a 15cm gun still there, to show visitors what the site was all about. Too many times you can visit a place, and see the concrete and steel, but come away without knowing what it was really all about. I love the "concrete graffiti" that you found. Possibly a name and a date? Would love to know for sure. The ferry crossing across the bay really gives you a clear idea of why the Germans set up the guns there! Thank you guys for sharing this fascinating place with us! Looking forward to seeing the next parts of this explore, and what amazing things you found! Stay Safe! Stay Well!
