Germany, once the driving force of Europe’s economy, is now facing an unprecedented crisis. In this in-depth analysis, we explore the shocking closure of Volkswagen, the nation’s largest employer, and the cascading effects this is having on the country. As industries collapse, unemployment rises, and economic growth plummets, Germany’s economy is spiraling into freefall.
We dive into the key factors behind this economic downturn. First, we examine Volkswagen’s shutdown and what led one of the world’s most iconic automakers to halt operations in its home country. We also explore the wider energy crisis that has crippled Germany’s industrial base, as the loss of affordable Russian gas has led to skyrocketing energy costs and production slowdowns across key sectors.
The auto industry, long the pride of German manufacturing, is in steep decline. Competition from China’s electric vehicle market, supply chain disruptions, and high production costs are contributing to the collapse. Meanwhile, China’s economic retaliation to EU tariffs is further hurting Germany, as the nation’s largest trading partner pulls back, leaving German exports in steep decline.
Additionally, we uncover the demographic time bomb ticking at the heart of the crisis. Germany’s aging population and labor shortages are severely limiting its ability to rebound, with a shrinking workforce and growing pension liabilities dragging down long-term growth. As Germany’s collapse accelerates, we also explore the potential wider implications for the European Union, as Europe’s largest economy falters and threatens to pull the entire continent into a recession.
Packed with data, expert opinions, and real-time analysis, this video breaks down how Germany’s economic freefall could reshape the future of Europe-and what it could mean for the global economy.

Well what do you expect. When you no longer import Russian Gas because the US says so, your country will suffer..

Russia did stop gas deliveries to Germany via Nordstream 1 pipelines. Nordstream 2 was not finished then. That was part of Putins blackmail strategy. EU decided later to stop gas imports from Russia - with still some exceptions.

The US did not tell them no. The US bombed their gas pipeline without informing them and crippled them big time.

The reality is the EU needs the gas more than Russia needs the money… It has been well documented Russia is selling elsewhere, like China, Norway, Turkey, India and others…

@@TheHuski Die EU can get gas from other countries. The cost of selling gas to China is much higher, the prices China pays much lower. China has just refused a Russian plan to build a new pipeline. Claiming that Russia is selling gas to Norway is simply ridiculous, Norway is exporting its own natural gas to Europe. By the way: Gazprom is now making billions of losses - each year!

@@TheHuski Are you saying that Russia is selling gas to Norway??!! If you have been somewhat intelligent, you would have known that Norway is now the greatest supplier of gas to the EU and Europe in general. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about

An excellent fact-based analysis, fine script and production. In 2023, Zoltan Pozsar observed that $2 trillion of German manufacturing was based on $200 million of Russian gas, leverage of 10:1. On the one hand, it’s clear that German politicians are fully in alignment with the de-industrialization of the country, and welcome the hollowing out of companies to the US and China. However, the auto industry shows that it is seriously underinvested in research and its cost structure is uncompetitive. These structural problems are deep seated and will not be solved quickly - particularly if the country follows the advice of the US.

Still the EV lie is being repeated over and over here. Where they are loosing is mainly in the general car market. They are too expensive and since there is no real demand for EVs they can't push those either.
