What a time that was. The indestructible NS1200 class, the then new plan V EMUs and the 1940 "Diesel-5" 5 car DMU in Amsterdam. And Germany had all forms of traction in those years, from steam, electric, both 1920s vintage class 104 to modern 125 mph class 103, diesel as class 218 and 212 and even a class 515 battery railcar with trailer. Those class 515 did run between Aachen and Maastricht close to where I live as well. The Rheine-Emden line was famous for the "Lange Heinrich" or Long Heinrich 4000t ore trains behind 2 class 44 or 41 steam engines, or combinations of the 2 classes.
A great time. The heavy DB-coal or ore trains (like the "Langer Heinrich") often were pulled by oil fired 042 or 043 ("Jumbo") in combination . Later there were used 1 or 2 Diesel hydraulic 221 (V200.1).
Thanks a lot for publishing this great film ! This is what made the railway desirable across countries, be it in the original or in the model. Not to be compared with today's monotonous railway, especially in Germany. Best regards from Schwabenland.
Diese Epoche habe ich leider knapp verpasst, die so beeindruckend vielfältig war. Umso dankbarer bin ich für solche Filme, da werden meine Spur N Modelle lebendig. Vielen Dank fürs Hochladen! 👍🏻
