Totally understand taking a break from Vic 3. I haven't played it in ages, and every time I see a new video on it, there's always a "Oh my army glitched and threw the entire war gg" moment. Idk how you guys can keep going after getting fucked like that!
honestly, i have started to make me unironically believe that if germany had flipped to communism they could have instated that disney land communism that marx described in his book "working on a monday morning is a crime against humanity" so maybe victoria 3 is not as unrealistic as it might seem especially when units teleport from india all the way back to the uk randomely
My current belief is that the only revolutions that work in creating a society for people that's not a brutal authoritarian dictatorship are national separatist revolutions, such as the 1776 U.S. War of Independence, or the 1821 Greek War of Independence. In every other case, if the revolution is done to change the order of society, authoritarian thugs are going to corrupt and derail the revolution. We saw that with Robespierre and the French Terror; we saw that with Lenin and the Bolsheviks. I doubt Luxembourg and Liebknecht would have prevented a slip into strongman purity spiraling and purges of "anti-revolutionary elements".

Gotta agree that Vicky3 is indeed a house without windows...or Doors...or any carpets to replace (especially for new players in singleplayer) I tried to play it myself after i saw this disastrous Prussia and thought "i can do better" 6 Runs later i lost to denmark twice after britan supported them. Then lost to Austria once directly (because they had a better Army than Prussia!?) and indirectly through destroying my economy. After that i was kinda tilted but tried again... BAD MISTAKE I lost to France after my whole army didnt have ANY MEN in it... (Apperantly it is hard to pool reserves for a war when you are a militaristic Nation!?) And then i tried for my last time and formed Germany by 1890 but was so strong that i formed SUPER GERMANY by ACCIDENT.... (I tried to play as historical as possible to LARP) Summarized i had 20 painful hours of trying to understand why AI does diplo like its damn 2003 Iraq, trying to work out how to run a functioning economy while also having an army that can rival AUSTRIA, coping with many wars that were just 1917 simulator and AI just agressively colonizing Cameroon (France, Spain, UK and ME raced for it) and also trying (and failing) to have a nice germany without ruining the game by annexing my German Brother into a failing Nation.... Anywayyy.... GREAT VIDEO!
I FEEL THIS ON A SPIRITUAL LEVEL. Like, this attitude of: "I can do better." just to be straight up humbled into crippling debt and coalition wars where Great Britain always tried to keep me down... It was a horrible experience and I still hate that I had to watch multiple guides to understand certain features, since you can get lost quite easily in this games UI. Should have supported netherlands as a buffer state vs france as the french have tons of claims against you and netherlands, also the french had a lot of power to gain by taking the french low countries, wallonia, and flanders which are all highly industrial states that would be best if you kept out of their hands.

@@guyfromcollege thanks for the reply. The warfare system is indeed annoying, but I find it more irritating than a core issue, personally. Maybe that's why I find HOI4 pretty boring to play; I find the actual warfare part a lot less interesting the economic and diplomatic stuff. To each his own, for sure. And you're not wrong to be frustrated with random front splitting and such.

I have a question. Since the devs have announced that the new update, 1.8, will not include any major changes/updates to the warfare system, I'm kinda curious... does anyone here have any ideas on how to fix Victoria 3's warfare system?
