In 1949 the shunter situation in Germany had become a huge problem with the lack of modern and standardized machines. So the Deutsche Bundesbahn jumped head first into the development and construction of a new shunting locomotive in large numbers: The V 60! Will this one be finally the success, previous attempts were hoped to be? Enjoy!
All models in this video were created and rendered by myself using Blender.

I have a small correction to make at 07:16 and 09:24: The contrast colour for the orient red and traffic red paint schemes is not traffic white (RAL 9016) as stated in the video, but rather light grey (RAL 7035); traffic white is only used for the lettering. From afar, however, the difference is barely noticeable as both colours appear as slightly off-white. Thank you for your interest!

A reliable workhorse to be sure, amazing to think that these started service in the 1950s when they're still seeing use today.

I do agree, that is quite astonishing and speaks for their rugged construction!

same goes for some of the 4 locomotives of the electric "Einheitsreihe E10, E40, E41 und E50 (successor to the legendary E94)"

Similar to the Bri'ish Class 08 shunter. A (comparatively) heavy shunter from the 1950s, replaced all the smaller shunters as demand declined, and still in use today. No-one really made a replacement design.

The Victorian Railways in Australia also used these; they were called W class and they were all on the 1600 mm broad gauge.

Content is awesome. The detail you went into all the liveries and logos is the best video I have seen. Thank you for what must have been a ton of work to write, edit and produce. I like the traffic red and white.

Thank you so much! It was indeed quite a challenge fitting all this information into one video, without making it too lengthy. But I think it worked out just right in the end!

I have the Marklin Traffic Red and a Gray version of a private outfit ... both with Telex coupling...great shunters on my layout and occasionally I will have the red one pull the DB thunder boxes

It's quite nice to look at and shunters are generally brick on wheels.

Ah yes, a legendary vvehicle that is often overlooked to to it's small size and slow speeds. It's still my favourite. I prefer the ocean-blue variant with the new DB AG logo being a nice accent, although I can get why most people like the Bundesbahn version

Fun fact , the master key of this blends in near perfectly with the cab walls from the drivers seat , especially in the switched off position , tho i know this more from TSW than actual driving Aber trotzdem Ding läuft Ding schiebt Ding zieht Ding ist günstig Passt Achso und den passagierdienst hat die 628 ja gesnackt ;)

Interesting videos. If you want sothing off the regular tracks, try looking up the Swedish T43 diesel, ASEA Rapid (Ra) or the Nohab F 1200 steam.

Strangley enough I like these best in the livery they had in service with the NMBS/SNCB, Belgium's national railway. Here they were known as the class 80

Weird question, but I feel like I had this in both the blue livery *and* a Norwegian railway (NSB?) livery from Märklin. Was that likely this engine? If so, I’m very glad I now know its history!
@steelbridgemodels
@steelbridgemodels 5 месяцев назад
It most likely was this engine! After all, the NSB had some V 60s, too; they were painted in yellow with red cabs.

Thank you so much! Coincidentally I'm currently working on a model of the Schienenbus. Even though I can't say when, a video about it will come eventually! Best wishes to Argentina!

I saw a v60, number 1140 in lindau reutin in 2022. It was in the purple red livery with stripes. Do you think this a privatised example due to the color? I cant make out the logo on the cab side
@steelbridgemodels
@steelbridgemodels 4 месяца назад
Indeed, the V 60 1140 is privately owned by the Vulkan-Eifel-Bahn and their logo says VEB. And yes, there shouldn't be any purple red example left in the fleet of the DB, let alone with a V-number.

Another lovely shunter! But the V 60 East would need a complete video on its own.
