I love this. As much as I want the US to win again, the fact that women's soccer or football is growing and gaining respect is incredible. The playing field is evening out across the world and the women are getting faster and stronger. Even though I'm Canadian, the USA and German teams are my favorites. Whomever wins, the sport is gaining new fans and more respect for women's sports as it should. Can't wait for the world cup!

More American people know about the German woman players because the American woman's team are world champs, German people know more about their men's teams because they are world champs. I don't know the players names of our (male) national volleyball team either. Why? Because I don't care about volleyball. I also don't care about womens football. Simple as that. Don't confuse a lack of intrerest with discrimination.

It's about demand not discrimination

This is not a case of discrimination against women. People neglect woman's sports simply because there is a better version of it, the men's sports. To establish this thought let's take the example of English Football, of men to be clear. The top tier is the Premier League consisting of 20 teams which is highly lucrative but nobody apart from the local fans care about the 2nd tier, the Championship. Why? Because there is a better version of it called the Premier League. It's a case of demand not discrimination.

Great ad. By the way, this has been an enjoyable world cup. I look forward to the next decade or so when the competition becomes even fiercer. When we hold any group back we hold back all of humanity.

You can't force people to support you

We in the Netherlands love the women's team. When the men's team performed all time low, around the same time the women became European Champs and the attention was born. True, the women are just a tath slower (not much) but they make up for that with perfect teamplay, flexibility, spirit and determination.

I've tried to get into women's football, but I just can't. It's slow and boring in the long run. All the players are completely done after the first 45 minutes, and the level of competitiveness is equivalent of U15 at best. I respect that they play, but not my cup of tea at all...

Why can’t we all agree that the women’s game can not come close to the revenue the men’s game make so they aren’t that famous and they don’t earn as much and I think it’s fair as men footballers are often way better than female footballers. Why don't I care much for women futbol, it's because it's not as the same level as watching Zlatan jump 3 feet in the air and make a bicycle kick from 40 yards and make the goal. I can't say a lot about this .Why are the stadiums empty in women's football matches .it's because the standard of their game is less than that of men or because not even women want to watch women's football. Definitely it's not because of men.

nobody is criticizing their ability to play football, hell these women would probably run around in circle with ease against male footballers as well, but these people still fail to understand why they arent as 'BIG' and 'HYPED' compare to the male counterpart, this problem also persist in the female NBA, if there is no demands, there is no sales, if there is no sale then there is no profit to be made, network television and merchandising will only come to you if there is demand, you can win trophies, awards, league titles, but if there is no demand, then there is no exposure coming into that direction. golf and tennis have strong male and female presence with huge financial backing because there is a demand for it, football is a hard area to break (even for all male team)

I like the fact that US people are so informed about women’s football but let’s face it American national (male) football team kinda sucks whereas their women team is doing great so it’s pretty understandable that they are more interested in that compared to other countries.. I don’t see that much gender inequality since there is plenty of sports where women are much appreciated and followed worldwide (eg. tennis, volleyball athletics etc.) only cause the athletes competing still manage to provide great performances and entertainment.. Football is a men’s sport, in terms of stamina and physical requirements and also partecipation (female football players are almost non existent in number compared to men)

I really like that ad! And to set things into the right perspective: If people are not interested in womans soccer, it's ok, just go and do whatever you prefer. Woman as well as men have the right to do what they like, whitout having to endure the misogyny of others. What weren't women told in history. We could not sit on a horse/bycicle or run long distances because it 'wouldn't suit us' or threaten our ablity to have children. Every nonsense was presented as a 'scientific fact', which was mostly anxiety and prejudice. Now we see that women are physically able, now the next complains are rising. Best to ignore it and just have fun with what you love to do. I for myself am looking forward to see the tournament. Sitting in a beergarden and follow a match is great!

Sure but there are many lower league teams around the world that most people don't know their names who play better football than the women. Not to take away from their achievements but this push that the women should be considered on the same level as men is as absurd as teenagers complaining they aren't paid as much as senior international footballers who play for top class clubs.
