YESS!! My neighbor put out a free box of assorted peppers- take what you want. So, I did. As I used the peppers I saved the seeds. (All varieties). I sprinkled saved seeds into several pots, no idea what would take. I had a huge success! I think every one of them came up! At least 20 plants per pot. I didn't thin them, bc I like the big bushy look and when they bloomed it was prolific! It was like overcrowding was no such thing. Tons of peppers, every kind, you name it. In the fall I brought one pot in for overwintering, put it in a sunny window, did not prune back. Kept it watered. Still full of peppers + blooms. I was still picking peppers into February, which is when I pruned, (leaves were kind of sparse) The plant started regrowing leaves immediately after pruning. I had peppers in June last year. I'm in Nebraska.
Thanks for sharing! I actually took seeds from crushed red pepper flakes that i bought in the store, in the dried seasoning section and was able to germinate them and get them to grow! It was probably about a 70% germination rate, i put like 3 in each cell, so, it worked out fine. Now, i grow my own peppers and make my own crushed pepper flakes. Which, my fiance loves on everything!. I also grow cayenne peppers to make my own powder to mix in stuff. Just gotta be careful when grinding it down lol, that stuff will burn your eyes and lungs if your not careful, but, its soooo good. Im gonna try to make my own homeade taco sauce this year also, and we want it to feel like fire 🔥😅😂. So, hopefully that goes well.
I really DID enjoy this video... you're so right! out of sight = out of mind. I had to move my hydroponic lettuce to somewhere I could see it so I could actually remember to eat it! Google timers are my life!
I'm about to find out if my overwintered peppers survived. I'm also in zone 6 and it was getting too cold in the walkout basement so they went up to a colder room and now in indirect light. I'm pretty sure 1 out of 7 is alive and 1 is dead. The rest are questionable. I, too, ripped every leaf off. I succeeded in watering them but I think they needed more light and maybe I left them in the cold too long.
Water and light and pray them suckers survived lol i have a few that I water regularly even more so than regular to hopefully Jumpstart the plant but it may take some time. I'm thinking if after a month nothing happens then they're dead
