One of the greatest seasons by a pitcher ever. I’ve looked at the pitching stats for both Astros aces. JV and Cole are neck and neck in every single stat. Never said this before but they should literally be co-Cy Youngs. It’s only fair. If Verlander wins it will be because of his no-hitter, 3000 K, and 300 K season. Also whip is insane. If Cole wins it will because of the K’s and him not losing at all after May. I thought 2015’s Cy Young was close with Greinke and Arrieta but this one is crazy close.
Dude just paints the edges and has legit gas on that high heater.... pair that with a mind for analytics and it's not a surprise most hitters look like clowns at the plate against this guy.
im a yankee fan and im not saying cole is a bad pitcher, mans was still in the cy young voting even after the sticky stuff was being outed by the league, but he was def using it
With his contract he will literally be making 1.3 million dollars per start for the next 9 seasons. Imagine the criticism he will get if he has an outing of giving up 5 runs in 3 innings lol.
Lol the only reason why the Astros traded for this guy who was solid nor cheating was because they could make him better with this spider tack made with pine tar mixed with other sticky stuff like melted chocolate and stuff and he’s brought it to the Yankees He would of never been this good in Pittsburg
NYG Forever I doubt Houston has the $ for it long term. Verlander and Greinke already eating up payroll. Correa, Bregman, etc are eventually gonna cost them bank. They also don’t need Cole, especially cause their division is meh atm. They can get by and add at the deadline next year like this year. It’s too bad they don’t have 2 more years of him. Him and Verlander fed off each other like cannibals.
MVPFLF I agree, Houston just doesn’t have enough to keep him. Cole would need to take a team friendly discount to stay, but he’s earned the cash. It comes down to what matters more to him: money or a championship. Money usually prevails. But him and Verlander were quite a duo.
Jmoney I understand where you’re coming from but Houston would have a great chance at winning it all again if he stays, plus they get McCullers back too
