I was 27 when this came out. The text blew my mind: I hoped that one day I would meet a guy who would love me as much as that. Today, I am 70 years old, and I am proud to say that I found that man! We regularly listen to this song together and thank Gerry Rafferty for bringing us together. 🥰
Gerry rafferty was the best singer I am from Scotland as he was and I remember him dying I listened to city to city over and over agian for 48 hours and just sat in bed I was the artist behind his albums all of them I was a close friend and I toured with him all over the world
Only recently “got back in touch” with Gerry’s music and everyday I’m finding new tracks that inspire and help me through life’s challenges - an artist sorely missed and gone far too soon😊😌
Love this song, Gerrys voice so smooth and pure joy when harmonies kick in. The guitars and bass along with organ just sooth me. Don't get me started on percussion wood blocks and metal sounds that begin and end each bar, hypnotic. Wonderful song by a giant talent.
I remember the first time I heard this amazing song, I was a young boy working in Hendersons the butchers on kirkcaldy High Street, best days of my life, listening to the Paisley boy. God Bless Gerry. X
you know I need your love, you got that hold over me as long as I got your love, you know that I'll never leave when I wanted you to share my life, I had no doubt in my mind and it's been you, woman, right down the line. i know how much I lean on you, only you can see the changes that I've been through have left their mark on me you've been as constant as the northern Star, the brightest light that shines it's been you, woman, right down the line. i just wanna say this is my way if telling you everything I could never say before yeah this is my way of telling you that everyday I'm loving you (so much more) cause you believed in me through my darkest night put something better inside of me, you brought me into the light threw away all those crazy dreams, i put them all behind and it was you, woman, right down the line. i just wanna say this is my way of telling you everything I could never say before yeah this is my way of telling you that everyday I'm loving you (so much more) if I should doubt myself, if I'm losing ground i won't turn to someone else, they'd only let me down when I wanted you to share my life, I had no doubt in my mind and it's been you, woman, right down the line
If you ever see this comment ~ Wendy ~ Losing your friendship Was the worst thing I ever did in my life .. I'd give my life for you ..if it meant that you would be happy forever .. God bless and know every time I hear this song I think of you ..Woman ~ right down the line ~ * I broke my own heart *
Nicely Done . . . I Have Loved This Song, And The Album City To City, Ever Since It Came Onto The FM Radio Stations Back In 1978 When I Was 16 Years Old, And I Have Loved It Ever Since . . . R.I.P Gerry Rafferty, And Thank You So Much For For All Of Your Beautiful, And Amazing Music . . . ;-)
The thumbnail on this video is a sketch of George Armstrong Custer, which is fine with me. This is my favorite song and Gen. Custer is my favorite Civil War general. He and his wife, Libbie, were very much in love and this song is perfect!
Who would have thought, back in those years, that the priceless footage of the band would be video of their old-school equipment. I am sure, that they never thought of a time when Marshall guitar amps were going to be retro old school.
Beautiful arrangement. What a well delivered piece of music. The more you listen and hear it the further it grows on you. Would be nice to replicate on a guitar. Fantastic.
Desde que tengo uso de razón pude encpntrar este gran tema y quien es el que lo canta francamente que alegría es por empezar el dia en estas primeras horas de la mañana

Romeo ! Finally .. finally we now know exactly who Romeo was. After all this time wondering what really had happened to the guy, for those with the better sense than believe the insane flamethrower on poetic 11 tear jerk tragedy account given by someone trying to sell books and create a new language at same time. And as we in the guitar playing community have long suspected, turns out in a last ditch attempt Romeo had decided, and yes, I’ve had a few, decided get busy writing a decent good enough love song for continued benefits. Well, took some time and briefly an unfortunate discovery seeing, Juliette had long moved on, but true to his own genuine uncompromising feelings, the song indeed lived up to his hopeful “decent good enough” at time, so much so he soon found out there were many other Juliette’s out there, and Julie’s, Victoria’s, Helga’s and boatloads of Susan, Margaret, Karen’s and whatnot just so moved by this song, he also then soon found himself in the curious absolute feel-good state, which mostly finding himself becoming forgetful about ole love squeeze Juliette. Then was going soon one day call the first ever tabloid author flair for the dramatic “Romeo and Juliette” to inform him of what really went down, esp given the sheer magnitude in contrast, with such fabulous morbidity by England’s acclaimed finest, drafting this twisty love fictional vs this Scotsman’s slight less windy less dramatic actual showdown as to the journey towards a blissful never ending Equally so, if not a wee more significant to those that maybe like myself have a tough time recalling the Romeo fictional, also but found out Romeo played an old Gretsch hallow through a Marshall.
