I'm in recovery myself and can't even begin to tell you how helpful sober living is for addicts.. I am now a year into my sobriety and am looking to give back myself & hopefully make a profit while doing it. Is it possible to get started with no money or a house ?? Hello, my name is Veronica Mosquera. I have just received my vision of what I am made to do. I am going to start a transition home for BOP women in Texas. I also am about to go to spend 8 months to one year in a federal prison camp, for the second time. I thought about the halfway house that I had gone to before and decided that I will not be going there again. I would rather finish my time out at the FP camp. Then it hit me, that is what I want to do and a heck of a lot better. Much better! So I am starting this off in a Pre-K status in knowledge about this. I have a question: I live in New York, to open up a halfway house, who is paying for the beds in the halfway house? Is it Medicaid?

Erika that all depends on the population of people that you’re going to serve. Instance, if you are housing, mental health and substance abuse people and they get Medicare Medicaid the state would now pay you about $2000 a bed but there’s a limit on the amount of people, you could have them at one house. If you’re serving people that are transitioning from jail or prison, hence re-entry, then, there are programs that actually pay the rent, but as a rule of thumb, they normally pay themselves. Not to be perfectly honest the biggest mistake. Everybody makes is thinking that all your money is coming from rent. This is why my program is so unique because I experienced that and I didn’t get the help. I need it because the places I went to that only rented me a bed did not help me deal with a lot of post traumatic stress disorder and lifestyle choices that I made. I have a nonprofit Charity, and I have rentals in Ohio, can I work remotely from another state. What about if my for-profit company leases to my nonprofit for halfway housing purposes? great idea, sound very interesting.

What’s the difference between hal way houses and sober loving homes. I’m 20 years old and want to start a sober living home, the thing is i don’t have a credit so I’m going to do a 5 year plan once I start working.

Victor Garcia the difference is a sober living house is specific, for people that are in recovery. Halfway house is can also be recovery or re-entry for ex offenders coming out of jail.
