Great attachments! We have added a spear to the 3 point on the rear of the tractor. 2 bales at a time= fewer trips and it balances out the weight. Haying season is upon us too! Congrats on your yield!
First off, Thanks to Hustler Equipment for giving you an opportunity to test some new equipment and being able to provide some feed back to them. Very happy to see the rain/snow you received this past winter has produced some great hay this year. If you continue to get some great numbers in the other fields, you may have enough to sell to some of the other farmers who weren't so lucky with their crops this year. Another way to possibly make money for the ranch. Thanks to Jeff for being there another year giving his precious time to help out on the ranch. God Bless you all and continue to be safe.
I use a round bale squeeze for plastic wrapped marshmallow bales. I also use the 4 spear attachment to pick up dry rounds from the field but my round baler has the option to drop bales in pairs which is handy and fast.
I'm so happy that your haying has increased so much! I can't imagine the relief you and Erin must feel after this. Jeff you are just such a pro with that tractor although I would have dearly loved to see you chasing after those rolling bales.... 🤣🤣😂 Congrats to the whole team because I know each of you wants to see the farm be successful and you try your best.
Thankful you are getting big numbers on the hay. I was praying you would have a bumper yield on the hay this year. Soft hands for Jeff. It did look like it was even fast to get and drop off. Time saver. Keep on haying guys. Thanks for sharing
WOOHOOO look at that yield!!! Amazing what rain and clover can do! So happy for the ranch with this result in this one field. Looking forward to the results of the next fields you harvest!! Congrats!
I too like that Soft Hands equipment. It doesn't tear up the bales. Incredible difference between this year and last year's yield. Wow! Your other fields are probably going to produce more as well. Be Blessed!
Great comparison, I like it. I use a two fork on a 94 hp tractor and I like how that one works. We use a three fork on our small JD tractor and that one works good to. We do 4x5 rounds and that does make a difference. I have seen the soft hands used before and while I think they work great for silage hay, for net wrap and plastic twine wrap, I still prefer the forks first, easy to pick and to unload for my situation. Enjoyed watching, as always. I hope you all have a great evening!
Hi Mike, first time commenting. As a farm kid myself 40 years ago, we did square's and filled the hay mound by hand. Now , round bales are the ticket. We use the 3 tine speer ourselves, but like the Hustler soft hands type. Good choice without poking the bale, especially if its plastic wrapped. Although, if Hustler could adapt a bolt on alligator type rail with 2" teeth in several spots on the clamp arms, that would prevent rolling out as such as going downhill like Jeff commented on. It would hurt the bale, but stablize it in the clamp. Any plastic wrapped bale obviously wouldn't use them. I love innovation and mechanics as im a mechanic myself in industry. Good choice and good luck. Always watching.
Awesome hay yield this year, Mike! It's so cool to see your hard work paying off, along with a little help from Mother Nature's luck. Keep rocking it! 🌾👍
My dad had a homemade bale squeeze when i was a kid in the 60s,we used to put up about 75 lb. Small square bales so we dragged a skid behind the bailer we stacked cris cross 12 bales on a skid pile and the squeeze would pick up and stack the skid piles into a huge square stack as high as the tractor loader arms could reach the bale squeeze attached where the loader bucket did
Wonderful hay yield this year. Nice to be able to field try different equipment to really see what works for your place. So glad to see such a wonderful hay crop this year. ❤🐂 🐄 🐖 🐐 🐔 🐇 🐱 🐕 🇺🇸 🇺🇸😊
I think the soft hands with a not spear, but weld on some hill looking metal pattern on both sides of the squeeze arms would help it from the bale wanting to fall off
Hay Mike and Jeff! Thank You for another great video! The Soft Hands attachment seems to work great for moving those round bales! It will be interesting to see how they work for loading the hay trailer and moving the round bales to the hay yard! 70 bales compared to 20 last year is totally AWESOME! Can't wait to see how the other fields yield! I do believe it's going to be a good haying season for OWL! Great drone shots Mike! Until your next video ~~~ Stay safe, healthy and happy! 🐄🐃🐃🐃🐃
I am so happy for you and your Family. You got lots more hay this year. It is such a Blessings for you. Thank you for sharing. Lots of Love and Blessings to you all. ❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏Doris, Penrith 🇦🇺🦘
The smoke is quite heavy today & the cool weather has been really nice for haying! As a child I drove the tactor for the bucking of hay then 'drove' the derrick back & forth with my father who used "rigging signals" to direct me. I loved it but had to stand up to drive as I was short for a 5 year old & up as I grew. Used a John Deere 70 back then.
We bought 6 big square bales from the neighbor and he brought the soft hands., lifted the to second story and pushed them in one after the other. We put our hay in half an hour. Awesome!
I hope you get hustler to make a fodder feeding system for pre fab container grow systems, when Hustler gets the outfield engineering needs you get a demo to own. Micro Greens and also sell fodder as feed. Fodder non gmo finished category for safe food buyers.
So happy for ya'll having a successful Haying Year...ya'll damn sure deserve it. Really like the new tool for moving the Hay...sounds like Jeff really likes it!!
"Soft hands", give your bales a gentle hug. Lol kind of like a straight jacket to humans. Give yourself a hug 24/7. I do like the soft hands better. I've never seen the marshmallow bales. My grandparents (both sets) used to live in Indiana. Used too as I'm 48yrs old now. Round bales are common in Indiana. I watch Sandi Brock who lives in Canada. She's a sheep farmer. She uses square bales and silage for her sheep. But she puts her silage in a long tube of plastic. So marshmallow bale's is a new one for me.
Glad you are out of the drought this year and that you have a good hay yield! In my opinion the most efficient piece of equipment for picking up round bales is made by Morris. They make a 8 bale and a 14 bale hayhiker wagon that you pull with a tractor and self loads. You only need one tractor and you only handle the bales once. When you push the bales off they are left in 2 rows that are tight end to end to keep rain / snow out. You should never stack round bales when storing them outside, they get water between them and.your spoilage goes way up, plus they freeze together and you rip all the twine off when you have to rip them out of the stack.
So happy to see all that HAY‼️‼️. I remember last year you were fighting to get hay. Hope it last this season. I think Ranch hand Jekk needs a cowboy hat 🤠 😂😂❤
A BIG HALLELUJAH ON 70 BALES. So cool. Last year there was the worry if you were going to have to buy extra and now. That worry is gone. That is some answer to prayer!
It is now 30 years this month since the Softhands Baling Equipment first rolled out of the factory in Hastings , New Zealand to farmers all over the World
I’m glad the field ad such a high yield this year that’s awesome! Will you send some of the hay to get tested to see the nutritional make up? I hope you have the same success on your other fields!
We stack end on end like a two coke cans stacked on top of eack other and lift them with a clamp grab. One tractor in the paddock making a stacks to suit the truck and dog and one tractor at the shed unloading and stacking the shed. 1250 bales in 2 days is a good run. 🇦🇺🇦🇺 not bad for 3 people
Need that attachment for bailer where after you make a bail. That the bailer will kick it out and move it to the side while making another bail. You can then drop all your nails in a close area. Sonne Farms use one, it helps especially with a hay crop like yours. Gonna be a great year for hay. Probably could sell some of you guys decided too
Great video. A $10 improvement you could make to your current single spear is attach an old fashion bike flag or something to it so Jeff can tell if it’s level.
What is needed is the pick up and hauler seen one that actually function like an orchard bin pick up and drop off hauling 15 ? bales and side dump all at the same time the trailer bed tilts to unload but you most likely need to actually be in the haying business commercially for it to pay for its self
A thought, why not separate the bales when stacking and run the trailer down the middle and load from both sides? As I remember you do put them 2 wide. With 2 tractors you could load both side . Just a thought, great to see a great hay season.
I think it is an individual preference and what kind of set up people have on their farm. Plus the size of tractor you have. Thank you for show us the different spear setups. God Bless
The equipment with the four tines are used for square bales of hay. I hauled many a load of square bales from the west to the east loaded with that equipment.
I live in a part of Central Texas where we have a huge harvest of coastal hay in a normal year. Last year was so dry, yields were way down but this year with the rain we had thank goodness yields are much better (unless the grass died out due to drought) That will bring the price down some.
You guys sould try a Vermeer or new holland power rake so you won’t leave as much hay in your feild that’s not raked up seems like for wheel rake is leaving a lot behind
Good stuff! I wasn't impressed with those other two either - the single spear is what I am used to so maybe biased. The four tine may work for hauling small squares or large squares though. Clover does make a difference and the funny part is that next year it may not be there.
ok whos white dog is running around behind the cows? I saw it last night but I was watching you on tv. im glad you got more bales out of the field then last year. Good Job ! thanks for sharing this with us
With all the tractor and equipment work, I would be interested in a video on how you get, store and use fuel on a farm that large. Is that possible in the future?
If you have the correct impliment, you can add a spear on the rear as well. This can cut down on trips across the field as well as it acts as a counter weight.. Nice yeilds this year.😅
