I'm surprised the guy you know in NYC with the 72 tooth chainring didn't instead have a 60 tooth chainring up front and 4 speed cogs in the rear. Seems more reasonable, ergonomic, efficient, just as fast on the straights, but easier for hill climbing. Am I wrong? _I'll be back._
Do you ever see Brompton getting a belt drive system? They seem to spend time on paint colours rather than embracing the future, looking at all the manufacturers each year more sales on belt drive systems.
@@SmallWheelWonder pretty sure the gentleman who invented it would of probably gone down the belt drive system many years back , instead they will probably be the last to go down that road,if you want to know what’s down the road , ask someone on their way back.
Belt drive doesn't work with the dérraileur system, so belt drives are always teamed with heavy internal hub gears. This leaves aside whether or not a carbon belt can be BENT BACK on itself, which the Brompton fold requires. Note: All folding bike design requires compromise. I trust Brompton, (acknowledged as the originator of the best folding bike design, ever) to continue to make the BEST ever engineering compomises
wrapping an under tension chain around that 9 teeth cog must be terribly inefficient. even 11 teeth isn't great when it comes to efficiency. you'll lose multiple percents of your output power. not worth it
