Honestly, I have a feeling you can make ANY brush look like it's the best!!! You are THAT good!

Awww thank you Ashley 😊❤️❤️❤️ not really though - for some reason I struggle with squirrel mops! Something about brushes that are too soft throws me off - I think it’s because I am not used to loose Watercolor style. But your comment made my day 🌷💕

I really like the perla and barroco series, i found that the white toray of the perla is a bit more springy than the barroco. The price/quality/feel ratio of escoda brushes is really good; I ended up using a small and medium round perla for the details, a medium size round barroco for the big chunks and a number 12 ultimo mop for the first washes.

Thanks again, for a great review. Your way of showing each brush's options is just the best. I need this Ultimo now :) I look forward to your next youtube.

Thank you Britta! 💜 I try to show all the strokes so you’ll see exactly why they make different shapes (I used to be confused about all the shapes when I first started) One rigger to have in your collection is a great idea - doesn’t have to be this exact one , try smaller size / other brands - riggers are just so necessary for long thin lines ☺️

Thank you. Excellent. Could you say why different colour schemes were used for different sets?

The rigger looks nice. They don't sell the special shapes separately, do they? Also, to make it easier to put the cap back on: put as much of the bristles in as possible, tilt the brush end so it is at a small angle to the cap, and then rotate the brush end to get the rest of the bristles in. When the brush is dry, this method can help especially, because the bristles tend to flair out then. There is a video of Escoda brush makers doing this to get the bristles into the ferrule while making the brush.

They sell the Ultimo separately, although not necessarily in travel format for this rigger, though they do sell the ultimo 1526 round number 4 which is a travel but not as long a brush length as here, whilst their ultimo 1533 rigger looks a tiny bit longer but that could jus be camera angle. Look at Jackson’s for both.

They do - as Kyomi said below not always in travel format (Thank you Kyomi!:) In addition to Jaksons, you can find them on Amazon: amzn.to/2w2zH64

Very good review of these 4 sets from Escoda. My question is what would be the best 2 kits to get for land, sea and city scapes ? I was thinking to get the black and green ones. Or would you suggest another combination? Thanks for your expertise.

do you like the small ultimo in the set more than the perla dagger in the black set? or no? both of them you ranked very highly and for things like linework, so i'm wondering if they are on par or have any particular uniqueness between the two.
@AnnaBucciarelli
@AnnaBucciarelli 2 года назад
So sorry for the delay in my response - I think I would go with Perla because it’s more versatile (you can achieve thinner and thicker strokes as well as some interesting shapes) and it is softer / somehow more flexible (because it’s meant to mimic squirrel). Perla over Ultimo regardless of the shape - a year and a half after this video was done I found myself reaching for Perla much more often 😊 but new escoda Chronos is better - if you don’t mind 90% synthetic coupled with 10% real sable 👌

@@AnnaBucciarelli FANTASTIC ♥️✨ thank you!! I just ordered a cheap dagger off of Amazon to get a feel for the brush type. Before investing in the travel brushes (and because I’m impatient 🙂). That feedback really helps a lot because I might pick up one more Escoda set and wasn’t quite sure which one to angle for. The sale at Jackson’s is over but I got an Escoda set for a lot less than I ever have seen it. Been wanting it for a long time now. Couple years. If it was still running I would probably get the set with the pearl a dagger right away before even having time with these new brushes. Sad. What do they call it… Compulsive art supply hoarding? 🤣

Hello, can the Barroco brush be used for applying water for the wet on wet technique?
@AnnaBucciarelli
@AnnaBucciarelli 2 года назад
Yes of course! As any synthetic, It’s not as absorbent and more stiff compared to natural hair but works just fine for wet on wet. The best synthetics in my opinion are Escoda Versatil and new Escoda Chronos - I’ve been using Chronos for all my wet on wet recently 💜
