In this video I will show you my concept around preparing for a dirty bomb attack while away from home. Enjoy! RAD Triage model 50 Dosimeter: amzn.to/415gfPR
Great gear and it's not out of the ordinary in this day and age to have a kit like this. But in a nuclear attack just let it be known that your vehicle may not run due to the EMP created by the blast- so good foot wear and a bicycle may be good items to add , and more food because you may have to stay put for as many as two weeks or slightly more before you can safely travel back to your home or any where for that manner.
One thing that I think people over look alot is that. People should also have Binoculars. It can be a cheap one. Just enough to make you see a great distance because you never know how far an enemy or a wild animal might be comming to your direction.
I'd add the following, folding shovel, toilet paper, activated charcoal, anti-diarhrea meds, pectin, tyvek suit with hood. Depending on how close you are, you may experience intense and uncontrollable vomiting and defecating. Just breathing will be difficult. You may begin bleeding from your mouth, nose, anus. At which point, you have very little time left to clean yourself and change clothes.
I have some of the exact same gear. Hopefully itll end up being family heirlooms instead of needed to survive. Week men make for hard times and America is full of blue haired week men.
Being aware of your surroundings is key. As a trucker, I never know where the nuclear power plants are unless I research the area where I stop. I want to get some of those items in your kit like the rad meter. My employer should provide them but they don't care perceive a hazard. Being a prepared person is self-responsibility.
i keep a Tyvek suit with booties &hood in my kit also!! duct tape to tape off the rubber gloves & top of your boots!! every little bit helps!! great video!!
Great video. I’m in an urban area. I think if you live in Idaho, you’ve already ‘bugged out’!!! In all seriousness, nice setup. I keep a legit dosimeter (pricy) in a faraday bag along with IOSAT tabs. Also keep an AM/FM radio, garmin gps unit, flashlight, and chem lights all in one nice package. Everything is in the faraday. Goal is to judge whether to bunker down or get out.
I miss being in Northern Idaho. Too bad too many people live there now. Where I'm from there, all the asshole people that bought alot of properties build houses on them causing the water table to be at its lowest in many years. A guy bought property up there near a orchid owners land who also had other crops. Well the guy who bought property built a 5 or six home mini community and because of that, it sucked all the water out of the orchid owners well causing him to lose all his crops. Idaho was beautiful 15 yrs ago...unfortunately not anymore unless you own 50+ or more acres. Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread here. Just miss my home up there when it was still alot of open land, so many new homes going up near Sandpoint and Priest River...😢😢 Great video though, I've been setting up my Tundra as well. I don't have a HAM License yet but I keep both a CB Radio and two GMRS Radios...one a base and the other a handheld.
I agree with everything you said.. it is definitely getting way too crowded here, especially from a viable prepping location standpoint.. not sure how much longer the family and I will stay in the area we are in.. fortunately there is still a lot of other areas in Idaho that haven’t succumbed to overpopulation. The water table issue you mentioned is definitely a concern depending on where you are located. Thanks for watching!
Nice ideas, my suggestion would be that you don’t need so much of a cook/mess kit… your trying to get home quickly, not wash your cookware/utensils and have a full meal.. unless you work far away from home of course
Important correction: Iodine Tablets Do NOT help you anymore after you have been exposed to particles! You have to take them before you get exposed otherwhise theyre for the Trashcan.
It makes sense to have a gas mask or respirator for gases, as far as a nuclear attack it makes no sense unless you have a full mop suit or a tyvek suit, because at that point your going to be exposed no matter what.
Question do not have shoes for your change of clothes? Any fallout will on ground and you will be walking through it then getting into your truck. Need to add shoes or maybe shoe covers. Good setup
Damn. Unless you live on another continent , a good pair of walking shoes and a change of clothes. A bottle of water and firearm will do the trick. This man's get home bag is more like a bug out bag.
Thanks for the video. You might want to add a work light and a flashlight in addition to your headlamp, and a package of zip ties and tape if you don't have them.
just got a shield plus with a micro red dot so far I like it gotta get some mags stocked up before I'll carry it and I'm 500 rounds into my 1000 test before I'll carry a gun
In your north idaho location these about zero chance of a "dirty bomb". The closest worry you have is Seattle/Bremerton/Tacoma area and nearby Spokane/Fairchild AFB. Truly the only safe option during an radiological event would be some type of below ground or tunnel bunker in a mountain that has fresh water and filtered air.
interesting video - I like the mess kit with the burner etc. Very smart set up. I applaud you for discussing nuclear attack/radiation exposure. I would suggest tho that in case of a nuclear situation/risk of radiation first ist to seek shelter!!!!! And when you found shelter then take all clothes off and put them in the wastebag, which you must then put in another room, as far away from where you shelter!!! Then you need to shower. Using whipes will not help, will just spread radiation over larger areas. The bottles of water will not help either (unless for drinking) cuz you need much more water to intensely shower yourself and get the radiation from your body, out of your hair etc. The boxes in your car are cool, but in case of a nuclear attack or radiation situation they are basically outside and as such exposed, thus unable to use them. Keep the gasmask etc at least in the car instead of in a box outside your car. The potassium-iodine tablets are to stop the thyroid from taking in certain radioactive isotopes. It is like 'filling up a glass to the top so no more fluid can get in the cup'. The radiation will however get to you through eyes, mouth, nose, ears, skin. You need more protection then just those pills. But every bit helps for the endresult you want, which is to stay as safe as possible. Worst problem in case of a nuclear attack is the nuclear winter that will come after the attack. It is extremely important to prep for those circumstances even more. Also, in case of an attack the EMP will immediately kill the car and all other electric equipment, so if you think you can bug out or drive away with that vehicle in such a situation you will fail cuz EMP is a final for anything electric. Finding prepper answers to nuclear threats are difficult and challenging. I recommend faraday bags and a real geigercounter; thet are the best things you can do to protect yourself. Good luck - Jason
Honestly I really hope we all don't have to worry about a nuclear war mostly anyone need more then ever is a fallout shelter and plenty of food stack up to last 100 years in my opinion including growing your food in the shelter but the supplies you shown really would come in handy no doubt
