I dig it. This all feels inspired by the book “going home” by A. American. How are you staying warm at night in the off season? A hammock, poncho, and a spare t-shirt doesn’t seem like it’ll cut it.

Swap out the large kitchen can opener for the military P38 or P51 can opener add it to a survival keychain with mini flashlight cpr mask whistle mini chem light. Get a real CAT North American Rescue tourniquet. The imitation versions like the rhino brand you have are known to fail or break. Add a roll 1'' x30' gorilla tape. For the electronics use a dry bag. Swap out the off brand compass you have for a Suunto A10 compass.

I went through all my stuff from before and transferred all the non essential items in my get home bag to my big out bag/camping 72hr bag. Because of the suggestion and feedback from everyone it worked out great! Yes I have a little survival tent and fire kit but that’s if I’m far away from my house that I know if I can’t make it home i have to camp it over night. Brother listen to your subscribers and listen to what they have to say. some do give great advise

You might want to put your electronics pouch in a Ziploc bag or mylar pouch.

There are smaller and lighter can openers. Just sayin'.

I like it but there are things to this bag that make it unnecessarily heavy and it could stand to lose several pounds.

Amazing set up bro!! You have an arsenal of necessary items that all fit into 1 pack, that’s a great set up. Reminded me to add some things to mine for sure. I particularly like the poncho & hammock theory as opposed to a shelter half or tent/ tarp. Condensed MRE is friggin brilliant too, there so much cardboard and wasted space in MREs. Had some old timers in the Army & USMC tell me that back in Vietnam they started using the cardboard from the entrees & side dish to send post cards and notes home for free via USPS. Never tried it when I was deployed bc all we had to do was drop the envelope off and it was sent for free. Anyway, LETS GOOO bro, keep these bangers coming!! Just Survive Somehow!!

Very good straight forward educational video. I watched the remainder of it and compared it to my bag contents. I’ll note the differences only: I have a USB rechargeable flashlight, with an extra battery. Instead of binoculars I have a monocular. Write-in-the-Rain notebook. Along with the poncho, I have a pair of Gortex rain pants. I keep some “snacks” in a small pouch on shoulder strap that can be reached without removing the pack I use generic wipes 2-20 packs (alcohol free), (unscented), so as to not attract bugs or people. Package is 4” X 3” Cream Sunscreen 30-55 SPF (unscented) Along with Charging Bricks, I also have small solar panel to charge them. P-51 can opener, but you can open it without, if you can find a road or concrete surface or flat stone. Window breaker is for laminated glass or tempered glass found in commercial doors. Not really needed for most windows. I carry one Flameless Ration Heater per stripped MRE meal, I do not intend to start any fires unless necessary. I’ll also use chemical and mechanical water purification if possible instead of boiling. I also carry an Esbit stove and 5-6 fuel tabs for morning coffee water. My fire kit is 25% the size of yours: Basically looking at 3 or 4 small fires if needed. 25 UCO matches in a UCO container. 1X3 in tire inner tube and small packets of hand sanitizer. I also don’t carry all the fire making material in one pouch, they are spread around. I carry a Buck knife along with a Swiss pocket knife and a backup folding knife. All knife sheaths have Ferro Rods.

You actually tested your bag so you are constantly improving your system. My 2 small suggestions are one replace the heavy can opener with a p38. Second put your electronics in a zip lock it’s water resistant and lighter. Good job either way.

Your the first i believe that can make it for a long distance of walking.

Buddy of mine was offroading in the mountains. Road fell out from under him wheel got stuck bad. His winch couldn't pull him out. His radio couldn't reach anyone and had no cell service. Sun was going down and the 60 degree day turned to 20's pretty quickly. Him and his wife hiked 3 miles to get cell service they were pretty far. They both got frostbite on the tips of their toes and fingers. He had a bag of preps that included a knife and some other stuff. But he did not have a fire source. I told him to keep a couple 4 hour candles in the car, just having a candle going can help warm the car, throw a blanket over and you'll warm up really fast. He had never heard of emergency candles. You never know when you're going to be caught in that situation. And when you do you're hoping you prepped for all your needs. People think it's silly to have but it's absolutely not

Dade, it is good to see how you fine-tuned your bag based upon your experience in actually walking home. I have the same organization in using a separate fire kit, electronics, and tool pouch. This has greatly simplified my ability in locating items in the same size pack as you. My tool pouch is actually my EDC pouch (Maxpedition EDC) that I would grab from the driver's side of the car to put in my bag. I would re-assess the big can opener for the likelihood of using it vs. carrying that weight - for me, I would substitute it for a P-38 can opener. I have come across loss of electrical tape adhesion that is stored in the heat of summer and would substitute it for a roll of 1" Gorilla tape. The center punch is a one trick pony and I would probably substitute it for a Tactical Pen (Fisher ink cartridge) that has the window breaker tip. Great bag, and I appreciate your explanation of some of your equipment choices as they relate to your personal experience and location.

Its very easy to open a can on concrete in an emergency, a rock could be used in the same fashion if it is big enough. That being said just have a can opener 🤣 everyone needs an emergency bag close at hand these days.

The guy is trying. But it is very obvious that all his gear has never been used, and you can just tell he has got all of his information from watching RU-vid videos. This guy has never spent a night out in the open, or done a single mile walking with his gear on his back, and has no training in any kind of survival. But good luck to him.

These bags are a bunch of bs. Not sure who the first person was to come up with them but theyre pointless. Nobody has ever gone for a long walk before?? People run 30 mile marathons and they dont need zip ties or can openers or window breakers. I get everyone likes gear and putting themselves in movie situations but cmon. If u practice basic survival u dont need a bag full of junk. Not sure if u have a family or not but they are priority number 1. That means light and fast. Im not stopping to make a fire and cook or sleep. I get it im not like the majority of people who watch these vids but im a realist
