This is my take on the EDC/Get home back.
A big objective of this setup was create a setup that would serve the bare minimum.

In college I started to EDC carry a "man bag" everywhere. The dopamine hit of whipping out something useful in the perfect moment kept me addicted. Now I work in IT so I upgraded my man bag to an Unbox Therapy pacsafe messenger laptop bag. I have probably more than half of the stuff you show in the video, so you have validated me. And you gave me some great ideas. Thanks Brass Facts.

Bought a tac messenger bag 6 years ago in college because I wanted to downsize from my backpack, but still be able to hold my laptop, some notebooks, phone charger etc and loved it ever since. Now that I'm into firearms and work in an office, sometimes it's just not comfortable to wear work pants and conceal, which brought me back to my tac bag. Looks inconspicuous, but I actually have a full sized, 4 mags and a brace kit 🤣 Looking to throw in a medkit in there too

A good load-out kit. A couple suggestions for small, lite, versatile items that might be added: a lighter (with or without 12-18"of duct tape spooled around it); and a toothbrush and small travel-sized tube of toothpaste. I have had multiple planes cancelled, and a 3 hour layover that turned into almost three days spent in an airport once, when a national strike was declared in the country that I was transiting through. But, I can imagine other travel challenges, and more difficult situations. Being able to brush your teeth after a long, difficult day is a small thing that makes a big difference.

“BrassFacts’ Primary Do-All EDC Urban RECCE Get Home SPR Checkpoint Wonderbag”
@bradsimpson8724
@bradsimpson8724 2 года назад
23:40 - I'd say that for a commuter travelling through a populated area less than 20 miles from home(the bulk of America), you have all you need and then some. A lot of people get confused with a GHB and forget the "get home" part, and then start adding silly things like fishing kits and snares for small animals and flyweight sleep systems, and end up spending way too much on a bag that they won't carry around because it's too bulky and too heavy. And praise you for leaving a good amount of empty space for the mail, a grocery bag, a work lunch, etc.; it makes me crazy when people don't think about that! A couple minor additions I'd consider: a Silcock key, a multi-bit screwdriver and small adjustable wrench, and a BreachPen.
@BrassFacts
@BrassFacts 2 года назад
breachpen actually looks really interesting. Thanks for turning me onto it.
@echofoxtrotwhiskey1595
@echofoxtrotwhiskey1595 11 месяцев назад
Breach Pens are the opposite of discreet though.
@bradsimpson8724
@bradsimpson8724 11 месяцев назад
@@echofoxtrotwhiskey1595 99% of the time, the BreachPen is way more discrete - and practical - than carrying around bolt cutters and a crowbar. And in the event that you need it, it's probably an urgent situation where discretion is a luxury. If I need to get through a locked door to hunker down from a tornado/hurricane/severe storm, or avoid a mob of violent protestors/looters, or get a vehicle through a chained gate in a hurry, or any number of other scenarios, I'm less concerned with going unnoticed. And the few situations where I might be are not enough for me to want to deal with the weight and bulk of other tools. For 95% of people in 95% of situations, the BreachPen is the right tool. If your situation requires something different, or if it makes you feel better to have something else, power to you. But to carry on your person on a daily basis, the BreachPen is a pretty solid default.
@MrCalicious
@MrCalicious 2 года назад
I totally forgot about Nutnfancy. I watched so many of his 70 hour long review videos. Great get home bag. Some really small items that I suggest adding are: a Sawyer Squeeze - because purification tablets taste like trash, a Foretrex - because relying on a phone for GPS is sketch, a headlamp - because handhold flashlights are annoying, a white or red mini keychain LED to your shoulder strap - because they are crazy convenient. All of that could be added to your current setup without any noticeable difference in capacity or weight. TBH for only a little bit less capacity you could add a lightweight tarp like the DD Hammocks Superlight, and small saw like the Silky Gomboy and this would be a super capable long term survival kit and not just a get home bag.
@protectpersevere2030
@protectpersevere2030 2 года назад
Tbh i’ve been debating the whole edc vs get home, capability vs practicality setups and i think your approach is more along the lines of what i’m thinking. I don’t think having a large “ruck” that u could survive off indefinitely is a bad idea at all just like having a fighting rifle always nearby, however the other 99% of time such as going to work/hanging with friends orFam/ to even taking a short walk in the park is what the lol “mission” is. So a smaller bag/gear that gives u SOME capabilities is more optimal. Great stuff once again and i’m working on dropping a similar setup soon!
@BrassFacts
@BrassFacts 2 года назад
that was my logic when I came up with this roughly in 2017. I never brought my gethome bag with me, and neither did my friends. So I sorta had a moment where I realized something like this was needed.

I keep a rectangle felt lined table cloth in my bag. It's waterproof to lay on, can make a tent, and could also be a blanket. It folds super flat and it's lightweight. About $4.00 anywhere. Beef jerky, dried fruit, bread bags to put on my feet to keep dry, other obviously important things listed in this thread, this list is just a few extra things.

Some things I’d add are a good mask (not just for the flu, fires, debris, smoke, or even just stench), spare keys (the most likely emergency for me at least is being locked out), sunblock and bug spray depending on your location, and lastly copies of important documents. This is not the major ones. I wouldn’t have a pic of my social security number, but having a list of phone numbers, emergency contact, or whatever stuff you’d normally carry in a wallet that may come in handy should it get stolen.

I recently invested in a few DefendTek "AR Holsters" It's a Molle receptacle with an end plate for your lower receiver with a knuckle on it. I've got one on the side of my get home bag, and one on the front of my plate carrier. It takes up almost no space, gives a QD port for a sling, and makes stowing your rifle with or without a sling super easy. I keep one on a 10.5" ultralight 5.56 build, and one on my 16" general purpose rifle. If I'm rucking, I'll keep the 10.5" stowed on my pack, fully collapsed with a bungee cord holding it tighter to the bag so it doesn't swing. It takes me about 5 seconds to unsnap the bungee, and pull it out of the Holster system.

Three comments. 1. What battery charging cable is that? 2. Love the idea of the clips on the exterior of the bag. I currently use little stainless steel Nite-Ize carabiner clips, but they let whichever pouches I attach (can attach 2 to the flap, and 1 to the bottom) flop around too much. I have three, situational dependent, pouches that I can attach; an empty general use pouch (that stays wadded up in the bottom of the pack to increase my edc bag’s capacity), med pouch (that stays in the pack), and an ammo pouch w 3 loaded rifle mags and some boxed ammo (that stays in the vehicle, not on/in the bag, attaches to the bottom of the bag). Will be looking at incorporating those clips. 3. That 1L light will also run off of AA and AAA batteries, so three battery types, both rechargeable and non. So 6 different battery options.

Why did you write numbers on the pistol mags (e.g., I see #4 in one)?
