This is exactly why things like a single 1176 costs $2K now. Because people show off how good this stuff can sound, and people like you and Schepps use it, then the demand skyrockets. Great video!
Another Behringer SX3040 user here. Using it just like you use your 204’s. Amazing on kick and snare. I usually patch them in right after the SPL Transient Designers. Magic. 😎
Aphex discontinued the Channel mic preamp, I own couple and the compressor gate and BB/AX can shape drum sounds nicely as well…those are also hard to find online pre owned but if you can, buy it
@@MixingMusicAnalog it is. I’ve owned both. The Behringer is still in my rack. Unfortunately, my Aphex disappeared while on the road many years ago. The Behringer feels very plastic and not all that well made, but it works and very affordable.
Behringer makes a clone of the Apex unit for like $99 on sweetwater called the Behringer 3040 I think, it works the same. Also for used market alternatives there was a company called EXR that made exciters similar to the original Apex units that are really good.
@@MixingMusicAnalog It's pretty close to the Aphex. Behringer have the Aphex clone and also a BBE clone which is great on Snare and toms as well. I've been using exciters since the 90s for various reason but mostly to give drum toms more power when they are tracked with dynamic mics.
