As someone diagnosed with ADHD, I connect with this video on a deep level. Your emphasis on accurate diagnosis, professional help, and practical strategies like setting measurable goals, and utilizing productivity tools provided valuable guidance for managing ADHD. Thank you for creating such an informative and impactful video. You're a big inspo!

I've never been diagnosed with any kind of mental thing. Hey I'm Indian, mental stuff that doesn't exist, it's all in ur head. When Ruri described ADHD at first I was like wait I feel like I've been understood and felt good that my issues and inabilities are being addressed. Thank You very much for the video Ruri. Same here, ADHD with Asperger and formerly panic attacks, which I surpassed over the years. I agree that even a small thing like starting a day is a huge struggle... Not to mention being productive. I'm 35, and very recently, I found out that I have a thing for writing and making short movies, and I'm easily entering hyperfocus while I'm doing these things; that is what kicked me out of my bed and did something useful instead of watching anime or movies the whole day :) I hope you'll find what you are passionate about, keep trying! :) Oh, and white noise in the background the whole day is a great support for me :)

When you feel exhaustion setting in, it is time to withdraw and restore yourself. If you feel demoralized, it is best to pause and recenter instead of acting from a place of depletion. If you can find time to unplug, do it. Reconnect with yourself in a big way if you can. And if you can’t, you can still recenter through tiny steps. Reclaim your first mountain here by committing to hydration, rest, nutrition, and movement, even in the tiniest amounts. Keep at it, and a natural rebalancing will begin.😮

I have been diagnosed in 4th grade and I had actually forgotten about it until I got into high school and struggled so hard with it to a point where people sort of diagnosed me with ADHD. That’s when it hit me that I got diagnosed years ago and I looked more into it, realizing that most of the things I struggled with in middle school and at that point in life came from my ADHD. It’s all connected. I just finished high school this year and I had honestly kind of stopped caring about my ADHD again because although I struggle a lot with it at times, I’m too lazy to do anything like therapy or medication. Now I’m watching this and it shows me again how ADHD is controlling my whole life. I’m just halfway through the video but especially the part about connecting to others hit hard, as I’ve never heard of this in relation to ADHD. I literally depend on being able to play video games with my online friends every single day. I mean I can take a break one or two days but if someone told me I had to stop ultimately, I would not survive. I currently watch all these videos about quitting social media or even technology and it’s all nice until they hit me with “quit videogames”. Of course it’s not productive but it makes me more than just happy. It makes me feel connected to people in a fun environment. I even force myself to play games I don’t love, because the “pain” of playing that game is a lot less than the pleasure of connecting with my friends, so it’s 100% worth every second of it. I’m so happy this finally makes me sound less like an insane person. Especially at times where I couldn’t understand how someone could tell me they don’t feel like playing tonight because the game is no fun. For me, this game doesn’t matter, the connection is everything. Now I finally know it is different for me than for “regular people”. I feel appreciated by this video and the information it gave me made it easier to love myself more and criticize myself less. Thank you ❤️

So, I'm 36 in August and I was diagnosed with ADHD 30 years ago. I never did any of the things mentioned in the video; unfortunately, I was diagnosed at a time where it was seen as a nonsense condition, and nobody really knew how to deal with it, particularly in someone so young, so I was told that I should just get over it, stop being so difficult, and grow up. You don't outgrow it. It doesn't go away, and I never had professional help or the support base to deal with it effectively; I just had to get on with life the best way I could, which is probably why I'm unemployed and still living with my parents at my age. Don't get me wrong, it's not been all bad. I've developed skills and mental attitudes to help me focus even on things that don't interest me, which is how I'm getting through the course work for my degree, but it's not easy and I've found that, in addition to mental effort, it takes considerable physical effort for me to stay focused, the net result is that I'm mentally and physically exhausted after a long day of studying. I've been looking into ways to promote quality sleep, which is crucial for productive studying, and I'll be trying some of the tips out in this video out. I'd love to let you know how it goes.

Hi Ruri! I find that I can set goals and maintain longer-term visions of up to 1 to 2 x years. However I was raised in a disciplinarian environment via Air Force Cadets and I was raised this way due to high functioning Aspergers. In general, I find that I tend to struggle to track goals and progress. Focusing mostly on outcomes like KPIs even though life isn't a business. But life isn't linear which requires some elements of spontaniety to react to. Sending out the love from down under. So I'm gonna be real with you, as someone with ADHD I can tell you that unless you are medicated you will not be able to carry out any coping or management of life for your goals long term. You can be told to do things to create structure but without medication giving your brain the proper chemicals you wont be able to execute on them when the time comes. If you cant get adhd meds or SSRI's at least you are screwed. Life is just hard for you. Id love to see a video about the secret answer to this hopeless reality. That some people wont be able to get medication or take it for one reason or another preventing them from moving forward. ADHD is a spectrum which means everyone has different severities of the diagnosis in different areas not just inatentiveness or hyperactivity. This just means yours might be different than mine. but I personally with my own diagnosis have found that i just cant. Burnout hurts. And if you cant do medication therapy seems to be kind of a cycle of admitting how uncapable you are. Ok comment over.
@ciriaeth

Thanks for this comment. I got my diagnosis last year (alongside some others) and have been unable to work for two years now due to not being capable to do anything productive and being overwhelmed easily. My doctor said I'd need medication but I'm so scared of it and in addition always see content of people (also medical professionals) saying medication is not necessary and that you'd just need to establish some routines. Which... I just can't and feel even more useless and stupid 😂 It's frustrating.

Meditate for 15 minutes helps as well. I’ve learn that with one of my mentors Sam Ovens he do have a video about that subject. The simple fact to do it put my productivity out of the roof. Just sit on a confortable place with no noise and no sound, close your eyes stay in silence, move as little as possible and breathe through your nose. You’ll have some thoughts who comes everytime (irrelevants thoughts as she said), you need to deflect them and that is it. I can tell you you’ll feel different at the end of 15 minutes and focus on your tasks. @Ruri I discover your channel less than a week and I can tell you I love each and every video you’ve done. Your level of wisdom is huge and the way that you keep me on a super focus mode when I watch your videos (did my lesson lol) amaze me everytime. Not confident enough in self diagnosis to say I have adhd, but I do seem to check more than a few boxes... From a personal perspective, I've found what I would call "frustration management" - setbacks impede or completely stop the flow state. One thing I've found helps with this is kind of... short term mental planning ahead for steps in the event of such a setback, because that allows the brain to smoothly flow forwards towards a goal instead of getting stuck on an obstacle and "hanging up" as it were. Not sure if I'm quite making sense, but to try and summarise... when trying to focus, keep in mind what could go wrong, and it becomes easier to adapt when something does go wrong. But, and this is important, don't go turning yourself into an anxious mess by wondering and worrying about scary things too much.

Selam Ruri, thanks for the positive and motivating videos and congratuliations on 1mil :3 . I just wanted to say that i very much liked the new podcasty setup but id like to give you an advide on microphone setup, your plosives are kinda noticible and for that id suggest the other big foam in the box of sm7b but that would kinda block your face so other way is to prevent plosives is that you can turn your mic 45 degrees left or right (the goal here is to not blow air directly into mic so you can try any other off center approach) so that you wouldn be speaking direcktly to the mic and last way is that you can train your plosives to be more silent but i think the second way would be enough. Thats all and take care (Türkiyeden sevgileeeeer).

I've started multiple colleges, but I didn't drop any because I disliked them, but because I thought I'd enjoy the next one even more. I've never managed to start a musical instrument, because I could never decide between violin, piano, transverse flute, or guitar. I've specialized in photography (during the era of photography, I studied everything there was to study), drawing, and I've earned money with design (I studied brand consulting) even though I am an engineer, leader or a procurement team, I also spend time creating and formatting academic papers for others. At work, I create complex robots to perform repetitive tasks because if I need to pull a simple report every day, I would often fail, while I set up the entire data strategy, something super complex, in the company, as it involves creativity and assembling this huge puzzle. I have infinite hobbies, and when I become obsessed with something, I don't stop studying it, until I feel I've exhausted it and move on to something else. I can't decide which Hogwarts house I'd belong to, because I love them all and see the good side of each of them, just as I can't choose a class in D&D, because I love all of them. I procrastinate, but with loud classical music, I enter a state of intense focus. I create innovations to avoid routine, because it defeats me every time, and finally, even though exhausted, I hate sleeping, it makes me feel really bad.

Another great. I'd be interested in seeing you do a video on high functioning autism. It can be a curse and a blessing.
