Hi, thanks for the video. I understand that it is meant for drysuit diving, but what about when diving in wetsuit? As there will be no pocket of air available in the wetsuit.
Caesar Wong Thanks for your very good question. There are 2 things you can do. 1: change your fins. A lot of divers who use rubber fins when diving a drysuit, and then travel to warmer water and use a wetsuit, the rubber fins can feal heavy. If this is the case look at fins that have the same shape but made from a lighter compound. There are many brands on the market. UTD Equipment has made some. But also OMS and Scubapro. Its not likely that divers in a wetsuit feel their feet are light. But if they do. Try with the standard heavier rubber fins. Try to avoid ankle weights as they are often too heavy
The second thing is keeping your fins up with finning techniques. You can make figure 8 movements with your fins to keep them up and away from the bottom. Have fun ! We also offer a propulsion mini course where all aspects of propulsion get covered and also the finchoice. You will learn 7 different finning techniques.
UTD Scuba Diving Thank you for your detailed replies. Ok, I’m gonna try with the finning technique. The reason why I’m concern with trimming is that I keep having a slight negative trim with my knees dropping lower from the level of my upper body when I’m holding still doing a trim check. I only dive in tropical waters, wearing 1.5mm wetsuits. As for my fins, I’m wearing UTD perfecto fins with 1mm thick blade. I have just replaced the steel straps with the bungees one and I hope that would help.
Oh I forgot to mention how I could managed to tell that I’m having a slight negative trim with my knees dropping slightly lower is that I dives in sidemount configuration, I can tell that my knees are not levelling with my tank’s trim levels when I’m doing trim check on myself.
@@Caesar.Aquanaut Equipment could be adjusted and would help a bit but try to look at you first. If there are any UTD instructors in your area give them a call and see if you can do an in-water session with them.
