I love how you mentioned Zineels ceiling challenges. I also see those plays as him applying good pressure while not losing his position. Without those he would have been scored on every time. The skill is truly incredible. Good stuff man
I can't wait to see a video about your rank up push, even if it is something you've indicated will be the twilight of your rocket league career. You've given us all so much. Leave it all out on the field, coach
Squishy saves and reverse squishy saves (where you jump to the back of your goal and ride down it to gain momentum) is something ive seen used in 1 v 1s to build momentum for a proper challenge in certain defensive situations, and something im working on incorporating into my game fluidly :)
Hey Spook. I want to share a tip for your boot camp and I feel like many people have probably mentioned this. Please be transparent on pricing. I get its a business and there are many people involved so it can be pricey but going in excited and then being hit with a huge paywall is disheartening. I was in one of your older seasons and I unfortunately could only afford to make half the payments before being financially affected by bad circumstances. I would love to rejoin at some point but I also need to know what to shoot for. For reference, I joined the season right before you introduced king ranny as a coach. Transparency seriously goes a long way for consumer trust, speaking from a business perspective. What I did learn really helped but I ended up dropping the game for a while after being kicked out due to my inability to pay. I have been back now and hoping to improve. Also, I am glad you've changed the approach to a more one on one coaching style. The mass coaching system wasn't really great as only a few of the participants would be helped/noticed.
Squishy saves is the mechanic a lot of GC1 players are constantly trying for no reason and consistently failing because none of them actually understand WHEN to use it. If there is a "do not learn" mechanic before SSL it should be that one!
It's so situational that no one should be training it at all. Squishy are essentially a recover method that conserves the flip and momentum. If you understand that, you WILL DO it when the time comes.
@@tobiasschulze8117yea I’m calling cap on that. I was in diamond for a while and didn’t see a single squishy save attempt. Now I’m champ and still haven’t seen it lmao. Diamonds hardly know how to save the ball or what post to be at in general let alone squishy saving
@@AlissonAlvesDeAraujoI agree bro! If it's not muscle memory you haven't trained it enough! This is a BIG problem with plat-champs. They do things they CANT DO without thinking about it. Super inconsistent which holds them back. I know this because I was stuck in diamond and now I'm just high Champ almost GC. But that's the biggest problem probably is trying too much while training too little. If you don't have the basics like rotating, kick offs, speed flips, accuracy, power, ball control, etc. It's going to be impossible or nearly to do all the things they're trying. The eyes are on the wrong prize.
Being able to contol the strength of each bounce and how long to hold powerslide during cuts takes good knowledge and grasp of the games mechanics. Don't get fooled that he used no mechanics to ssl, he used the simplest and most lethal 1v1 mechanics and just waited for 1v1 opportunities in his 2s and 3s games.
Flakes has like the highest amount of gamesense from any player, he can read most players like a book and perfectly counter them, no matter their playstyle or mechanical prowess. That's how he CLAPPED Dark(?).
I didn't give less value to your tips on notions, but even before this video, what I like to do most and what I do most in the game, is training mechanics😅, the new mechanic I'm about to learn is the powerslide cut. In fact, make a video explaining it.
Hey Luke do you think you could do a tutorial on how to position when shadow defending, i find it really hard to position properly against dribbling and bounce dribbling opponents
Your positioning should be Mirroring your opponent towards net and you should be close enough to challenge but not close enough to get the ball hit over you or airdribbled ober
He already talked about it, he also mentioned that the best strategy is to force the opponents play to the corner as much as possible. Even if you have no boost, you have to observe his distance of you and its velocity. Does he have full control of the ball? If you insta challenge, is the ball going towards your net or it's going corner side? You have a teammate im position to help you? All of those things you need to consider before challenging. That's not a easy answer to how or when to challenge but keep all of those things in mind and you will make the save easy.
Okay actual squishy saving i woild agree to not train However that motion is very important for recoveries and can regain possession and this has helped me a lot as a diamond and continues to help in champ
Ive started forcing myself to get comfortable with ceiling challenges and squishy net recovery/saves in my diamond lobbies and holy shit the difference was immediate.
I am a gold and have all the basic mechanics down, not that I’m saying I want to rank up, I dont play comp AT ALL, and I mean AT ALL, it’s usually just private matches with diamond and champ friends
redirects don't only train y our redirects it also trains aerials and defense too, it helps with overall car control and learning when air roll is needed and when it isn't, i'd say learn it in diamond yea but theres no shame trying it out for yourself.
Also can you tell me what is the best controls to use because I tried to do my way but using my controls doesn't work for me because, well you know I can't do it
So this video is basically for pc players is there anyone out there that just focuses on console ir am I just wasting my time playing on xbox since 2016?
I have an idea.......I am close to your rank.........and I am looking for players to train with and play both Competitive to rank up and 3v3 and 2v2 tournaments....Seems like it takes almost an entire game to figure out what my teammates are going to do and training and playing together, would only makes us both much better...................HolyStedenko
@@108MCruz Know any champs that would play with a Silver?..Plus, I'm old for rocket league player so this stuff is still foreign to me....as far as finding teammates....
hit the ball with intent in freeplay, practice power shots, accuracy from all parts of the field and like just focus on hitting it consistently and trying not to whiff as much cuz golds whiff like crazy. dont say you can do all of this cuz you CANT! its easy to get out of gold just do these things
Is this a cheat sheet channel😂❤(Our Creator and Jesus are waiting on us to come to them just build a relationship with him he loves you very much turn to him)
I'd say for a more beginner thing to learn. Is the car itself and the angles it'll be at to hit the ball. Car control itself is a great thing to learn. Makes learning stuff like dribbles and other things alike easier to learn once you make the step to learn them.
stop using the word hardstuck. Stuck is just fine. You don't need a special word for how long you have been stuck. You seem to be hardstuck taking money from people and not delivering.
Luke, would you be willing to do some of the defense training packs in a video? I'm rotating in and out of G3/P1 and heavily focused on making my defense as tight as possible. Only issue I'm running into while running those defensive packs is choosing what to do to block the shot. I'd like to see what you choose to do for each shot to give me a better idea how to defend better.
Play into the corner. Every single save you should make should go into the corner unless you are making an play available for your teammate, or just cannot possibly put it into the corner. You're basically redirecting the ball away from your net and into the corner. If you cant, get better. Hope this helps.
As a gc2 I didnt know that pros are celling challenging that often. Definetily will do more celling challenges now. And just practice consistency and improve my decision making bec. i think thats the difference between a pro and gc-ssl
Fully I’m gc2 from last season, the difference in speed , recovery’s and consistency from players from gc2 onwards and the skill Gap from gc2 to ssl or even gc3 is mega
@@JAmplify02 Im more of a fast mechanical player and I think what holds me back is decision making and confidence otherwise yeah there are lots of difference between the ranks
I stopped playing rank when I dropped to diamond and still couldn't hold that rank, so I've been in casual for the last three years getting my mechanics and game sense perfect, I'm close but when I que rank now I either get a bronze or SSL type players. im hardstuck.
who else is in diamond that is tryna hit champ in 2s? I'm D1/D2 and just struggling with all the different types of players you get as teammates w/ all their different playstyles (I'm not hating lol I just need a consistent teammate(s) for chemistry). but I've played enough diamond and fluctuated through the ranks enough to know I'm ready to push champ. if anyone else feels ready to make the push lemme know and we can get that done this month!
I like diamond 💎 moving up from that is just greasy. I don't have time for toxic humans I play to have fun. But this is true players are getting better.
I was 1v1ing my ssl mate, and he told me ceiling challenges were "meta", and it's important for you to hold the flip as more of a threat or when challenging in the air.
1 Q, I got to D1-2 using game sense and specifically being a good patient defender and i’m thinking to keep improving my defensive skills using the defensive tips u gave here, is that a legit idea? Or it’s better i work on growing my offensive muscle in parallel? (So far power clears and counter attacks r my main way of offense)
As a average solo queuer i was c3 last season but dropped to c1 its good to see i do the ceiling challenges like zeenil does i thought i was the only one who did that when anyone went up the wall
