Interesting twist how the reason the guy was screaming "Get Out" wasn't to threaten the main character but actually to warn him because the real guy woke up for a moment.
When the officer asks Chris to see his license and Rose intervenes, she really does it because she doesn’t want any record of Chris in the police file so when she tried to kill him, there wouldn’t be any evidence of him in the police’s disposal
@@DeletedDevilDeletedAngel what scene? If the parent's plan works than to the outside world nothing should appear wrong. "Chris" would just go on living.
I can't stop shivering every since I found out that the "GET OUT!" Wasn't a threat, but a warning from the real guy who was actually the black guy. Only truly good plot lines mess me up like that
neoc03 No it’s just really annoying and repetitive when people have seem to found a revelation whenever either it was obvious or was already found in the movie and just post it even though there is already a ton of other comments that say the same thing
Rewatching this movie is so angering. You see all of the thing they're were throwing in your face but you still never saw the twist coming. Like the fact that Rose wanted him to stop smoking because she wants to keep his body healthy, Rose defends Chris against the cop because she doesnt want a paper trail of him going to that house, Georgina was standing in the window because she was admiring her new body, Rose's dad say they wanted to keep "a piece" of their parents with them, there are so many details that you never noticed and it just shows how brilliant Jordan Peele is.
“That’s one of the reasons why you should watch the movie for reals instead of kill counting it up like some of you guys do.” Come on man you didn’t have to call me out like that
@@thedude8457 or that, even though anybody could make a smart character, other movies just choose not to because its more interesting. However, this movie proves that you don't need a dumb actor to have a good movie
Good call on Jordan for giving us a win there. Sometimes a bleak ending is the nice cherry on top, but seeing someone go through all of this and make it out just leaves you feeling good.
Peele said in a Q&A that he loves the symbolism that everyone reads into Rose's snack but that he just tried to think up the most psychopathic food and he came up with milk and cereal separately
I KNEW IT!! When I watched it the first time I said “Jordan Peele was really just trying to come up with the most psychopathically white thing to eat he could think of”
bruh the amount of ppl talking about how dead meat is racist for emphasizing that he was picking the cotton are so annoying considering that the scene was literally meant to symbolize that
1:54 Little detail. Rose wanted to try and keep Chris's body as healthy as possible to allow Jim Hudson to have his brain transplanted into a healthy body. Pretty scary.
@@photography6931 Can you link an incident where a man was shot and killed with his hands up and posing no threat to the officers at the time. Not like the Daniel Shaver incident where it looks like they thought he was going to pull out something out of his waistband.
You missed something important. The scene where Missy tries to stab Chris with a letter opener is related to when a lady tried to stab Martin Luther King Jr. with a letter opener at some type of meeting.
@redscrunchie222 if you eat cereal this way, NOT with one of those cool bowls that does the separating, but in TWO DIFFERENT GLASSES, you are a psychopath and should...not do that anymore. 😂😂😂
I just realised that the grandpa didn't like deer and wanted all of them dead... then he got killed with a deer head. I don't think this is a coincidence.
I really like how Jim Hudson isn't racist he just wants Chris for his eyes. It kinda draws a parallel to people that are "color blind" they aren't out right racist, but are ingnorant to the harm they do by not considering cultural experiences.
I mean, the harm he in particular was doing had fuck all to do with race, it would've been just as bad to do it to a white person, and the wrongness of it had nothing to do with cultural experiences.
@@NoriMori1992 not what I mean, what I'm trying to say is that even though he wasn't racist he was still doing harm. The fact that he is blind is a metaphor for being "color blind" those people are ignorant to others cultures by ignoring race.
@@sirwatzhizface I get what ur saying but he’s complicit and taking part in a thing that targets and kills black people but he’s an interesting character who seems to have different motivations and doesn’t seem to be as racist as the rest of them. But him taking part in it makes me think he is
The attempted letter opener kill is a reference to the attempted murder of Martin Luther King Jr by a woman with a letter opener at one of his book signings
@@LegoEpicAnimator I would only hate it because alot of teachers would make us do useless reports and essays on it. Other than that I think it's an amazing movie.
One really cool thing that is NEVER mentioned is the detail of the plushie by their bedside. It stays flipped around when chris wakes up which immediately lets you know the night’s events were 100% real.
That ending almost drove me up the wall. I almost thought, just when he was finally free, all his progress came crumbling. So glad they stuck with it rather than the original idea.
@@dankfather2853 If I recall, he gets taken into custody. When his friend visits him, he asks for information regarding the Armitage family - but rather than say anything, Chris just insists that he stopped them and everything is fine now before leaving the visitation room, with the camera panning on him being taken back to his cell.
Fun fact: yeah, Hitler was pissed Jesse Owens won at the Olympics and didnt shake his hand but FDR also didnt shake his hand. Owens had to go to the winners ceremony at a hotel in a food elevator in the back and wasnt acknowledged.
I liked how the light in Logan's eyes just faded out right after Chris took the picture, basically turning them into black holes. Another genius little detail.
If the cop got his ID it would've left a trail for the Police to follow that's why she quickly stopped him, considering she was against him the whole time. Cause it would've been more known where his last location was. This movie is amazing with the subtle stuff.
And maybe the cop even knew about strange shit happening to brown people over there, and got his ID out of concern, instead of racism. Would've been another nice flip of character types.
Chris has had choices where he has to pick whether to let someone live or die. He chose to do nothing when his mother died. But this time he got to choose and decided not to strangle her.
@@Bratcyberspace tbh this feels like a reach, choosing not to strangle rose had no impact since she still died anyway. and i'm pretty sure he thought cops were there.
Idk if anyone else had pointed this out..but Chris’s photographs are all in black and white which shows the huge contrast between the two colours. Also when Walter runs at him, it shows how fast he is, since he lost out to go to the olympics.
He's in a new body, his speed would have very little to do with how fast he was in his old body. However it's true that he probably still enjoys running.
I love how the movie is called Get Out and Chris actually picks up on the red flags all around him that clearly say "Get the hell out!", although it takes him little bit to act on those signs
When this came out, I watched this with my family and we always made jokes on how much my uncle looked like the main character, Chris. My uncle passed away and I watch this movie to think of him. It’s a really good movie
That scene when they hit the deer was absolutely the most terrifying jumpscare not involving a killer or something. It didn't even look like a deer Looked like a giant potato with some tendrils coming from its stomach And it looked like it jumped onto the hood of the car and bounced off
young metro kid I like this movie a lot because of the kills how and how smart the main character is and that ending THAT OH SO AMAZING ENDING it really is awsome and I can't express how much I like that
Great Video! *I love how this film takes an issue like racism and makes it even more terrifying while also having the protagonist act like an actual human being and not like a walking cliche*
The bit in the beginning when the police stop them rose doesn’t help Chris by telling the police she doesn’t need to give him his ID she was only trying to make sure there was no record of them being together
I admire this movie for making the backstabber girlfriend of the main character actually smart and a good actor. Most of the time they portray these type of characters intentionally suspicious to the viewer while the characters in the movie don't notice the obvious. This makes the other characters look stupid and the overall film becomes unrealistic. But this movie nails it. The entire time i was unsure if the girl was actually one of the bad guys or not and i think that's a good sign.
Daleeny Yes the only thing which confused me is when he kept asking her for the keys even though he had seen all the photos with her and the black guys plus Georgina.
I actually watched the entire movie for my film class (since we’re learning about representations of both race and racism in movies), and watching this afterwards made me realize how there were a couple things I missed that honestly would help with some of the note-taking I have to do. Low key this has officially helped with my homework-
Aidan Carbonell, no he was referenceing the body’s of the “black people” in the basement. Because their minds are “molds” to create the perfect being. The more you know 👍🏻
Tyler Baldwin Funny thing, Jordan Peele actually said he had the cereal and milk scene just to show how crazy she was, and didn’t intend for anything racial out of that scene specifically. So I guess it’s just a massive coincidence.
There’s another alternate ending where Jim’s brain is successfully transplanted into Chris’s body and Rod goes to the house and sees Chris and calls him by name, only for Chris to respond with, “I don’t know who you’re talking about.”
Kalu Abay "They" being a pronoun to mean "everyone in the theater." Take some English lessons. Trust me, they will do good for you. "They" being the English lessons. Hahaha
Jordan peele’s movies are kinda fucked up and I like that about his movies. The perfect amount of scary, symbolisim, kills, add that all up and you got a perfect horror movie.
That reveal of Rose having the keys all along was something else. I remember watching it in theater and the whole audience gasped. Never heard a reaction like that
Omg it just occurred to me that the mother just wanted Chris to stop smoking so that his body would be healthy enough for the new inhabitant...every time I revisit this movie I figure out something new.
@@malickdiop1762 That isn't a good thing. Having a good ending just so people don't feel sad is stupid as hell. That's like changing the ending of Romeo and Juliet just because it's too sad they killed themselves when all Romeo had to do was wait for another 5 minutes. Sad endings are so much better because it shows that the heroes aren't under the divine protection of plot armor.
I think it'll be good with either ending. The other ending is dark, but also good in the same manner as The Mist's ending kind of dark (which Stephen King liked better than his own short story's ending). Frank Darabont (director of The Mist) quoted what Stephen King said, "He said that, once a generation, a movie should come along that just really pisses the audience off, and flips their expectations of a happy ending right on the head."
@@slipknotmetalrockful Because there is a historical precedent (historical as in daily occurrence in America) for cops shooting black men instead of arresting them.
I mean, at first I thought he was yelling to leave him alone! But, I think he really was warning him to go, to leave before it's time, and maybe each black characters lines mean something! Maybe, when she kept saying, no..no...no, she was trying to tell him no, I'm not okay, you are not ok
That’s literally how I feel. I saw the entire saw franchise and final destination franchise through James’ amazing narration in this channel because it made me feel safe
A spoiler I just realized in the movie The police officer asks for Christ's license due to how many black people go missing in the neighborhood, and Chris's girlfriend doesn't want his identify to be found or known. Edit: thank you for the likes! Also this is just a theory I just thought I recognize so please don't take it too seriously or personal
@@nat-oi2fh well we could take it or face value or attempt to dig Into it and find some underlying meaning by the scene but the good thing about this is that neither of us truly know the answer Edit: hope this doesn't seem like an attack not attempting to start any kind of argument
