Today's video features one of the USA's most popular and influential bandleaders of the 1920s and 30s : Nat Shilkret (1889-1982). Shilkret who was of Austrian descent was not only a clarinettist, pianist, conductor and composer but also an important A&R man as well as music director at several companies...
He made thousands of recordings and it is estimated he sold over 50 million records... Famous musicians such as Glenn Miller, Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman and George Gershwin all worked under his direction...
More information on Nat Shilkret can be found here

"Get out and get under the moon" was a popular tune from 1928 and Shilkret also recorded the song with singer/actress Helen Kane (1904-66- She inspired the Betty Boop cartoon character)...
Since this is a very happy and - in my opinion - sunny record, the video features images of beach life in the early 20th century...
