These videos are so helpful. Can you make a new video talking about how to frame real estate shots, how high or low low the tripod should be and also how to edit the pictures?
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo 2 года назад
Thanks! Main advice I have right now is to have your tripod high enough to show more floor than ceiling (usually waist height for normal bedrooms) and high enough to see over things so you can imagine walking through the picture & see over counters / work spaces for kitchens (usually about 5’ for kitchens or rooms with high ceilings / large rooms) Check out some of my other videos for editing if you haven’t already :)

Try using the lens correction profile for the RF 24-240 and set distortion to about 130. That gets the raws from this lens at a bit better of a starting point for editing.

Hi Taylor, how do you decide what layer goes at the bottom or top? And also, when clicking on the eye you can drag it up or down to make it easier 😊
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo

Bottom layer is the one with the least done to it and anything on top of that is layers with brighter spots that will show up. What do you mean about the eye?

Is the 16mm f 2.8 RF good enough to start real estate photography. Even the 14-35 f4 is out of my budget right now
@picthishouse

Great video to show the technique. However, would you take this many shots for each room for a typical house shoot?
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo 2 года назад
Thanks ! Nope. Probably just 1-2 max for real estate & maybe more for architects or interior designers if it makes sense with the project / budget. I normally use 2 flashes to speed things up for shooting & editing for RE - Just wanted to show the possibilities with 1 :)

Just curious on how you found the 16mm looking for a real estate lens for my eos r, currently 35mm is my widest however I still use it some times for it, on a bit of a budget so would you recommend the 16mm and 35mm combo or going for the 16-35mm F4
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo 2 года назад
Hey! I would try renting it if you can, before buying anything (or rent both!) 16 2.8 definitely has a lot of distortion - for photos especially. Not sure if they have added profile correction for it yet on LR to make it easier to edit, but its a bit much if you are using it for architecture/interiors that need to look perfect. Hopefully doing a review on it soon! 16-35 f4 is great, especially for photos, and video if there is enough light. Super cheap to rent either on LensRentals.com - and with my link you can get a discount :) share.lensrentals.com/x/gmEABe

@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo I own the 16-35 f4 but shooting dark powder rooms seems impossible. Thinking I need a flash. How are you shooting these with the remote flash without being in the actual photo? I must be missing something LOL You're in some but not others.
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo 2 года назад
Hey! It’s definitely handy. Some I’m just out of frame and bouncing it off the ceiling corner usually. For the more creative stuff it’s easy to just edit out in Photoshop after basic adjustments in LR when combining the layers 👌👌 But for most cases a room only needs one fill flash shot and it’s good to go.
@SoChicLife

Hey! Yes, I used it for this whole video except some iPhone shots behind the camera. It seems pretty good, but distortion on some shots is pretty noticeable, and colors are a bit different to be honest. I’ll do a full review once I have done some more tests :)

Great video. DO you have any videos on how you do your editing at the end? Also I see your using the RF 16 mm 2.8. Im actually thinking of getting this for real estate. Do you recommend this lens for real estate or do you think i should get a zoom instead of a prime lens? I been searching videos of real estate using this lens and your video is the only one i have found so far.

Hey! Yes - just did another shoot& edit video recently that shows a pretty simple workflow similar to this one.
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo 2 года назад
Not totally sure if I recommend the 16rf yet, but maybe! It has a lot of distortion on RAW photos and I’m not sure if the calibration stuff in LR is up to date to fix it easier yet. Still testing it out but it’s a cool little lens. I’ve mostly been using it for vlog/BTS shots since it’s so tiny & light.
